In 1968, Yadubara was given a professional photography assignment to cover the Hare Krishna movement in New York City. A year or so later he was given another assignment to do the same in India. That resulted in his becoming a Hare Krishna devotee, and as the first filmmaker on the scene, he was in a prime position to document the spiritual revolution of ISKCON. He and his wife Vishakha traveled with Srila Prabhupada, filming and photographing him extensively. Thanks to them, we have film footage, movies, lectures and much more, illustrating the early days of ISKCON and providing everlasting images of Srila Prabhupada.

They have been the heads and hearts behind the cow protection department in Alachua ever since, beginning with Save the Cow, which cared for the retired cows on the farm until the cows and oxen passed away naturally. Kesihanta now heads up the Alachua Holy Cow Team that manages, trains and cares for the 3 cows and 3 oxen currently on the temple property. You'll see how an advanced education and professional services ultimately culminate in the highest service -- being a cowherd boy.

Jaya Gauri’s dasi Journey
From a young age, Jaya Gauri dreamt about finding a guru. Her father was the doctor to the president of Brazil and many influential members of the government. While attending university, she met Hare Krishna devotees in 1976, moved into the temple, took on a life of voluntary austerity, received first and second initiation from Srila Prabhupada, and then traveled with her husband, Mahavira, to open temples, farms and restaurants across Brazil, Florida and Canada. She assisted with the Portuguese translations of Bhagavad-gita and Srila Prabhupada Lilamrita. Since 1992, Jaya Gauri has lived in the Alachua Hare Krishna community, raised five children (now with several grandchildren), taught at the Vaishnava Academy for Girls, served in the deity sewing department, and currently teaches yoga, including Bhakti-yoga, to nurses, psychologists and doctors in Gainesville. Her message for the next generation is to maintain a service attitude, never give up chanting and to be kind to everyone.
