1 John 2:28-3:10 - Why is it important to know who Christ is? Because that knowledge - a knowledge born out of our relationship with Him - calls us into whatever lies ahead…and, ultimately, to Heaven!
1 John 2:18-27 - John addresses one of the great deceptions taught by the Dosetics…and it sounds eerily familiar!
1 John 2:12-17 - John writes about purpose: his purpose in writing a Gospel, epistles, and a Revelation - and our purpose as the People…the Church of Jesus Christ in this broken world.

1 John 1:1-4 - John begins his Epistle (letter) in much the same language with which he opened his Gospel. He invites us to unity in the Truth!

Episode 229: Paul closes his letter to the Romans with a reminder of an ancient promise that will fire you up!
Romans 16:1-16 - Paul’s writings get used often to silence women in church and keep them from leadership roles. But that sure wasn’t how Paul felt!
Romans 15 - Paul calls us to remember that we received the faith from others; and that it is our legacy - even our obligation - to pass it along with the same kindness and grace with which it was given to us.
Romans Chapter 14 - Paul addresses our legalism - our tendency to judge others by our own standards. But, are we called…or even FIT to judge?
Romans 13:8-13 - Paul, once again, focus’s on love: God’s love for us, our love for God, and our love for each other. The commitment to love as Christ commands is going to put us in some hard ethical dilemmas.
Rom 13:1-7 - Do I really have to submit to a government run by fools? Does God expect me to obey my government, even if it’s immoral?
Rom 12:14-21: This section is dedicated to one idea - mercy. Whst power do you bring into this world when you show mercy? It’s tremendous!
Romans 12:9-13 - The keystone of this chapter is verse 9. The rest of the paragraph define what real love will look like in our lost world.
Romans 12:1-8 - Paul meddles in our shallow definitions of worship, and calls us to real sacrifice…of ourselves.
Romans 11:25-36 - Paul brings this entire discussion over the fate of Israel to a big ending..,so big, he even writes the final prayer! But, he’s not really done.
Roman’s 11:17-24 - A sober message to us who have been grafted into God’s grace and mercy. Act like it!
Romans 11:11-16 - Are the Jews lost beyond hope? Have they been replaced? No. God isn’t like that. So, what is God like?
Romans 11:1-6 - God didn’t reject Israel, but preserved the stiff-necked bunch. He won’t reject you.
Luke 2:41-52 - Jesus as a 12-year-old boy in the Temple. The last account that tells us Mary treasured in her heart.
Matthew 2 - The Visit of the Magi is told for a specific purpose, but what is it saying to us?
Romans 10:1-4 - Paul continues his discussion about the Jews, and points out the root of their faith issue….they know ABOUT God, but they don’t know HIM.
Romans 9 - Is Israel excluded now from God’s plan? Are the Jews no longer His people? Have Christians replaced Jews as God’s chosen…His children? Paul tackles the hard questions here.
Romans 831-39 - who can condemn you? No one. Who can judge you? No one. Who can harm you? No one. What can separate you from the love of God? Nothing.
Luke 2:22-40 - Mary and Joseph take Jesus to the Temple for the legally required ceremonies of cleansing and consecration. But, they find another affirmation of His true identity.
Romans 8:26-30 - one of the most misquoted and misunderstood five verses in the Bible! Let’s see what they say?
Luke 2:1-20 - it’s the old, old story…but might we still find a place in it where it calls us to be part?
Luke 2:8-20 - The Good News comes to the most unlikely folks, the shepherds. But, they come to see, and again Mary is left to ponder…
Luke 1:26-38 - The Angel Gabriel visits Mary. His words to her, and her reaction and response, give us the keys to understanding the very will of God, and the meaning of this season.
Romans 8:12-17 - Paul focuses on our adoption into the very family of God, and what that means in this lifetime.
Romans 8:5-11 - Paul gives us the best standard for assessing our own soul….Christlikeness.
Romans 8:1-4 - it seems almost too good to be true - that God sets me so free from sin that there isn’t any condemnation ever coming for me…but it’s really good…and really true!
Romans 7:7-25 - a part of scripture so often twisted to say exactly the opposite of what it says. Let’s make sense of it!
Romans 7:1-6 - Paul affirms that we’ve been cut free from the law that was bringing us death, so that we might willingly bind ourselves to Christ, who gives us life!
Romans 6:15-23 - Paul follows up on his point from the first half of the chapter, but from a different angle. He says, clearly, that we must now become slaves of the righteousness that sets us free! And by the time he’s done…it actually makes sense!
Roman’s 6:1-14 - Paul speaks to us in literal terms of the stark differences between a life of sin, and a life under grace!
Romans 5:12-21 - Death came through Adam to us all…and ruled us. Life came to us all through Christ. Is there enough life and grace to overcome the rule of sin and death?
Romans 5:9-11 - Paul, afraid the Roman church might not be getting it…runs through the process one more time - sin forgiven, wrath removed…and this time he adds…relationship restored!
Romans 5:6-8 - Three short verses that tell us an immense amount about God and His live.
Romans 5:1-5 - when I’m justified by faith, am I saved? Do I have my fire insurance so I won’t go to hell? Is there more? How much more?
Romans 4:1-8 - Paul expands on this thought that God offers grace and mercy as FREE gifts. And as his witness to this New Testament kind of free grace…he calls the two greatest leaders in the Old Covenant!!
Romans 3:21-31 - having shown us that NO ONE will be saved by having the Law…or the Word…Paul finally shows us what WILL save us!
Romans 3:9-20 - Just in case someone thought still that they were good enough to stand before God, Paul just goes on to say, there’s no one good enough to stand before God. It’s dark! But…the gleaming Diamond of the Gospel is coming before Chapter 3 is over!
Romans 3:1-8 - if my frailty shows God’s strength…what harm is there in intentionally being frail? It’s not a new question…
Rom 2:17-29: Paul calls us to accounting…are we “Christian’-in-name-only,” or have our hearts been truly marked by Christ?
Romans 2:1-16 - the finger-pointing religious folks now get their turn to be chastised as just as wrong as those they’d judge. Paul is saying, “Saved or lost - we ALL need grace!”
Romans 1:18-32 - Here it is, the part of Romans that Christians always use to point fingers at the LGBT community. But, is that what this is really about? The answer will surprise you…especially if you read ahead just a few verses!
Rom 1:1-15 - Paul lays out his greeting, his recipient, and his purpose. He is writing to the church at Rome - and to us - to inspire and share GRACE!
John 21 - Almost as though it was an afterthought, John tells the immensely powerful story of the restoration of Peter…and us.
John 20:30-31 - John writes his first ending, describing his purpose in writing…and ours in living!
Jesus appears…apparently on for Thomas’ sake. But His words to Thomas are for all of us.
John 20:19-23 - Jesus appears to His disciples…and gives them power beyond belief…literally.
John 20:11-18: The men leave the tomb. Mary Magdalene lingers. And Jesus appears to the soft-hearted one who has no agenda.
John 20:1-10 - Mary tells the disciples that Jesus isn’t in the tomb. Peter and John run to see. But they come away with very different responses. How do we respond?
John 19:38-42 - Two men spend their own money and give their own time to claim and lay Jesus to rest. What are we willing to do, even if Jesus can do nothing for us in return?
John 19:31-37 - Jesus side is pierced, and from Him flow blood…and water. Instead of asking “Why?” Or “How?” We should ask, “What do they mean?” The answer might bless you!
John 19:16-30 - Jesus is crucified, and as quickly as John gives the account, there is yet very important ministry to our hearts within Jesus’ last few statements.
John 19:1-26 - Pilate continues to question Jesus, looking for any excuse to release him. The religious leaders get so emotional.,,that they scream out blasphemy.
John 18:28-40 - Pilate questions Jesus, and the answers Jesus give him should speak loudly to us.
John 18:19-27 - Jesus answers his first interrogator, and gets slapped. Outside, Peter is denying he even knows Jesus. How does Jesus handle our absolute failure?
John 18:15-18 - Peter and another disciple accompany Jesus in his arrest. But, thst other disciple is not who you think. He is KNOWN to the world that will kill Jesus.
John 18:1-11 - John’s account of Jesus’ arrest is very abbreviated, but it says something profound about how easy it is for a faithful person to be a coward.
John 17:6-12 - Jesus prays for his disciples. He prays that God will take over their protection. That should give us great comfort!
John 17:1-5 - Jesus prays for himself, reminding himself that everything he does happens with relationship with God…and happens to show US that relationship…and to bring us into it!
John 16:16-33 - Jesus tells His disciples…one more time…that He must go and then come back. But, this time, they suddenly understand! Maybe we can too!
John 16:4-15 - Jesus repeats several things He’s already said. But, he takes a moment to differentiate us from the world - and that IS all the difference!
John 15:26-16:4 - Jesus reminds us why He’s sending the Holy Spirit…but it may not be for the reasons you’ve thought!
John 15:18-25 - Having called us to LOVE, Jesus earns us that hatred is inevitable if we stand up for the truth.
John 15:1-17 - Jesus talks about the vine as the source of life to the branches. Then, calls us to draw our love from His life…our love from His Love.
John 14:18-31 - Jesus promises to return to envelop us in relationship with Him and the Father. Then, He promises us His peace.
John 14:31-38 - Jesus gets mysterious, telling the disciples they can’t come where he’s going. Then, He gives them His final command.
John 13:18-30 - Judas is revealed to be the betrayer…but there are 11 more around the table. Ultimately, they all…we all…fail. Is there hope after failure?
John 12:34-50 - Jesus tries to share His light with the people. Some believe, but everyone is afraid of the controlling class…so no one speaks up.
John 12:20-26 - This section begins with an odd request. Jesus’ answer appears to be even more idd, but is it?
John 12:12-19 - Jesus enters Jerusalem to the shouts of the crowd. But what will they be shouting in a few days?
John 12:1-11 - Jesus returns to the home of Lazarus, and we see a distinction between the carefree worshipper…and the selfish critic.
John 11:1-44 - The death and resurrection of Lazarus….and you…and me….and everyone else!
John 10:22-42 - Jesus answers a direct question from the Pharisees…but they sure do not like his answer!
John 10:1-21 - Jesus tries to help the Pharisees understand why people are being healed and deliver and following him….including themselves!
John 9 - The story of a man born blind, disciples who can’t even ask the right question, and church folks who don’t really want to deal with the supernatural - even when it happens right before…their eyes!
John 8:31-59 - The Pharisees continue to spit out accusations from the Devil. The contrast between lies and truth becomes clearer with each exchange.
John 8:21-30 - Jesus continues to try and help the Jewish leadership understand who he is…and who God is. But they don’t get it.
John 8:12–20 - Jesus takes on the title of Israel - “light of the world,” because they hadn’t fulfilled that calling.
John 7:53 - 8:11 - The woman caught in the act of adultery. They’ve laid the most air-tight trap for Jesus. What will He do?
John 7 - The opinions about Jesus are as varied as colors in the spectrum. They’re still they way!
John 6:41-59 - truly one of the hardest sayings of Jesus. But John already gave you the key in Chapter 1.
John 6:22-40 - Jesus hands a hard message to those who are chasing him around demanding signs.
John 5:17-47 - Jesus retorts to those who find fault in him for doing miracles on the Sabbath.
John 5:1-16 - Jesus heals a man by the Pool of Bethesda…the pool of loving kindness. The religious leaders respond…but not with Kobe…nor kindness.
John 4:43-54 - Jesus avoids the circus that people are demanding by healing a government official’s don from 16 miles away.
John 4:31-42 - The Samaritans flock out to see Jesus - looking for salvation. But, will his disciples set aside their old prejudice and biases to being in this harvest?
John 3:22-36 - John the Baptist’s final words about Jesus getting more famous…while John the Baptist fades from the stage. Do we too often make church into a battle for sheep?
John 3:1–21 - Jesus talks to Nicodemus…an expert in the Bible…but a person with absolutely no concept of the supernatural power of God. Perhaps Jesus U.S. speaking to us, as well?
John 2:23-25. - A little paragraph with a big message. It ties up the previous story, and gives you the keys to understand the next.
John 2:1-11 - Jesus and his disciples attend a wedding with his mother. She pulls him into solving a problem which she has no doubt he can solve.
John 1:29-42 - The faithfulness of John the Baptist, even to the point of giving away his own followers.
John 1:19-28 - John’s answers to the legal experts’ questions about why he was ministering, we’re short and simple. Maybe we’d be better off giving the same kinds of answers?
John 1:14-18 - John tells us WHY Christ came..and HOW He came to interact with us…in truth and grace.
John 1: 9-13 - Here is John’s presentation of the plan of salvation. Will you have Christ?
John 1:1-5 - The Gospel of John starts as does the first sentence in the Bible…and immediately sets the stage for the most amazing thoughts in scripture!
Matt 2 - the visit of the Magi causes quite a stir in Jerusalem. It might cause a stir in us, as well.
How does a Christian in this age stand up for what’s right, and not just for what’s trendy? This podcast went long enough that I had to make it into two!
Matt 2:13-23 - Herod orders the “slaughter of the innocents,” hoping to wipe out the infant “king.” The world continues to do its worst to silence the witness of Christ today.
Luke 2:8 - The Angel appears to the shepherds - the lowest of all social classes - and the Gospel comes to people for the first time!
Matt 1:18 - in the middle of confusion and darkness, the Angel appears to Joseph….and to us.
Luke 1:26 -Gabriel appears to Mary and asks her to do something more important than God has ever asked of anyone ever. What would you say?
Luke 1 - Zechariah is the first to see an Angel in 500 years…and then doesn’t believe what the Angel tells him. We’ll see how that works out for Zechariah!
Isaiah 11;1-3 - the prophetic vision of what the Messiah, and those who follow him, will express in their nature.
Isaiah 9:6 - the Messiah is promised to be an everlasting father. With the spectrum of fatherly examples in this day, is that a good thing?
Isaiah 9:6 - the Messiah as Prince of Peace in a world where peace seems nearly impossible to find.
Advent #2 - Isaiah 6:9 promised that the Messiah will be called “Wonderful Counselor.” What does that mean?
Advent #1 - Numbers 24:17-19 a prophetic utterance through a pagan seer that introduces us to the thought of “already, but not yet.”
The Story of Job - #30 - Job Chapters 41 & 42. The Dragon of the Bible and Jobs restoration!
The Story of Job #29 - Chapter 40. God asks Job the most important question in the entire book!
The Story of Job - Job 39 - God continues his rant against Job…but his focus had changed.
The Story of Job - Job 38- God finally speaks into the situation. He calls Job to stand and answer God’s questions. Why do I feel this isn’t going to go quite the way Job had envisioned?
The Story of Job - Chapter 36 - Elihu the youth releases his grip on wisdom and dives into error deeper than any of the old guys ever did!
The Story of Job - Episode 25 - Job Chapter 25. Elohim begins to bring a more accurate picture of God into the conversation.

Chapter 1 - Job 1:1-22 The opening narrative and the key to understanding the Book of Job - and the nature of God.

Rev 22:14-21 The final blessing, the call to “Cone!” And the prayer that Jesus come, amen!
Rev 22:6-13 I am coming soon! The time is at hand! Worship God! The final admonitions for us.
Rev 22:1-5 John sees the River of Life, the Trees of Life…and the angel tells him what they’re for!
Rev 21:9-27 An Angel shows John the Bride of Christ…the New Jerusalem! It’s the church!
Rev 19:17-20:3 The final battle takes place the beast and false prophet are thrown into a lake of fire! The Devil is locked up to stay….but has he stayed locked up?
Rev 19:9-10 It’s only two verses, but the Angel tells John that it’s the most important thing he’s going to ever hear!
Rev 18:21-24 The final curse is spoken on Babylon the Great…empire of evil…and it is stark!
Rev 18:4-19 - As Babylon falls, God calls His people to come away from her. But will we?
Rev 18:1-3 - A mighty angel proclaims on Earth what was already known in Heaven…the system built on compromise has fallen.
Rev 17:1-18 Here’s the most important thing to bear in mind - the key to making sense of The Revelation! It’s all about the Empire that appears powerful versus the Kingdom in which is ALL power!
Rev 17 - If I look around and see that my church has been compromised by the world’s agenda…where do I look to find Christ?
Rev 17:1-18 An Angel Carrie’s John into a deeper spiritual vision. It is explicit…but what does it mean?
Rev 16:17-21 The seventh Angel throws his bowl into the air, and wrath rains down. Yet people only revile God more.
Rev 16:1-16 The angels begin to dispense God’s wrath…but it’s not all aimed where you might think!
Rev 15: 1-8 Before the final plagues are released, John sees worship in Heaven, and it is intense!
Rev 14:13-20 God speaks a blessing on those who die in Christ…then follows a depiction of two harvests. One is preserved, and the other is crushed.
Rev 14:6:12 Three angels deliver a command, an announcement, and a warning to the Earth. Do you hear them?
Rev 14:1-5 John sees the Lamb and 144,000 marked with His name and His Father’s name. Are they the same as the group in Rev 7?
Rev 13:11-15 A second beast appears…riding to power from the earth. He’s a deceiver. Maybe you recognize him.
In this episode, I lay out the Biblical and historical foundations of “The Rapture,” the greatest deception that the Devil has ever foisted on the church.
Rev 13:5-10 The Beast from the sea is granted what looks like power and authority. Most of the world worships these things. Can you see through them?
Rev 12:13-17 The Dragon awakens on Earth and hunts the woman. When God and creation protect her…the Devil comes after her other children - the church.
Rev 12:7-12 The Devil goes to war against God…that isn’t likely to turn out well for him! Then, the believers on Earth overcome him, as well!
Rev 12:1-6 John tells us of great signs in the Heavens! Do we know what they mean? We do.
Rev 11:15-19 The seventh trumpet sounds, but there’s no plague, no pestilence…but a proclamation!
Rev 11:3-14 For every pressure pushing against you, God brings the equal and opposite power…for every minute that you must fight.
Rev 11:1-2 To begin his prophecy, God calls John to measure the Temple, to count the faithful. He’s defining who’s “in” and who’s “out.” As we read this, we’re called to take inventory of ourselves.
Rev 10:5-11 The Angel tells John to eat the tiny scroll…but the instruction comes with a warning. Is the warning true, even to us?
Rev 10:1-4 An Angel comes directly from God with a message…but this one is just for John, and John may not be allowed to share with us!
Rev 9:13-21 The sixth Angel blows his trumpet and Hell is unleashed on the Earth…but is it all too familiar?
Rev 8:13 - 9:12 The Abyss is opened, and black smoke belches out, and from the smoke - horror descends on Earth.
Rev 8:6-12 God sends plagues upon the earth…but why? Perhaps He’s trying to send a warning, or just get your attention?
Rev 8:2-5 John sees the Angel who tends the prayers of God’s people before His throne. But the Angel takes hot coals from the altar and flings them to earth!
Rev 7:9-17 Having sealed His remnant on Earth, God shows John the millions of Redeemed in Heaven.
Revelation 7:1-8 God pauses the action before the seventh seal and puts off His wrath to mark His people for protection.
Rev 6:12-17 The Lamb breaks the sixth seal, there’s a theophany, God is coming near! Men call on the rocks to fall on them because God is going to judge them…but, do they know God?
Rev 6:9-11 The sixth seal is broken and reveals the martyrs who have died for the Word of God and for their testimony!
Rev 6:7-8 The fourth horse of the apocalypse is the color of death, his rider is Death, and a pagan Greek god rides along. What does it mean?
Rev 6:5-6 John sees a fiery red horse, and what does his rider hold? It’s not a weapon…but a balancing scale!
Rev 6:3-4 The so one seal is opened. War follows Conquest and the world decays a bit more.
Rev 5:1-14 The story is almost over before it begins! No one is worthy to bring us the message? There’s a lamb…
Rev 4-1-11 John is invited into the throne room of Heaven, and takes us with him. Here’s where all the power begins and ends.
Rev 3:19-22 Jesus would like to come visit with you. More than that, he’d like to take you into his family. Will you come?
Rev 3:17-18 Sometimes, we think we have everything we need. God reminds us that, at our wealthiest, there are still essentials that we lack.
Rev 3:14-16 Gods message to the church at Laodicea is grave. His message to the church of our time might be just as grave.
Revelation 3:10-13 God gives us a preview of some of the most important themes of Revelation!
Rev 3:8-9 God calls His people to a life of faithfulness so that when their greatest adversaries are in need, God’s people can be the light of His love to those sorry excus…I mean…dear people.
Rev 3:7 God knows when you feel powerless, so He’s opened the door to your future - and to Heaven - and propped it open so it cannot be shut!
Rev 3:1-6. Sometimes the fire of our faith dims from neglect…sometimes our fire starts to drown in all the stuff we’re trying to do for God! Either way, Christ calls us to revive our flame.
Revelation 2:18-28 Encouragement to those who have not compromised, and stark warning to those who have. Gods gift to those who keep the faith? Hope!
Rev 2:14-17 God calls us to a life of no compromise, but of wide boundaries and good choices.
Rev 2:12-13 God credits the church at Pergamum for keeping their faith in an evil and compromised world.
Rev 2: 8-11. Do you suffer hardship or lack of resources at times? The church at Smyrna certainly did! Does God see when we’re hurting?
God message to the church at Ephesus. Rev 2:1-7. It’s the blueprint for revival in a church and renewal in our hearts.
