The Raphael Letters: Recent Episodes

Gabriel Dantes by chance has stumbled across a series of letters, which he has called The Raphael Letters. These are letters addressed from the archangel Raphael to a guardian angel named Shariel who is protecting a young girl named Sarah. These letters are similar to C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters, insofar as they give us a glimpse into the spiritual battle that is all around us. But these letters, in contrast to The Screwtape Letters, give the reader the perspective of the side of good.

What is a struggle that I wish my guardian angel could help me more with? Guardian angel, can you help me more with this, please? Please pray for me on my behalf that God’s grace might be poured into me to aid me with this.
After looking at this letter, what behaviors might I have to change? Or what sins do I need to repent of?
Is there any hardness is my heart towards other people? Jesus, please harden this part of my heart and help me to see and love others as you see and love them.
Is there something particularly difficult going on in my life right now? Or are there little inconveniences that will arrive throughout my day? Do I see these as opportunities to pray for the souls of others? Jesus accept my sufferings as a sacrifice of love for this person.
Who is someone who has died who may be waiting on my prayers? Jesus I offer up this person to you, along with any sufferings of my day. Please bring this person in complete union with you.

Do I set aside time to listen to God in silence? Do I bring him my budget and ask him what He thinks I should do with His money? When is the next time I could do this?
What are the ways that God is calling me to be a witness to other people about hoping and trusting in God, while being diligent with what He has given to me? Jesus, please help me with this part of my life and guide me.

RENUNCIATION OF LIES
“In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie that this thing (name the lie) will make me happy.” “In the name of Jesus Christ, I accept the truth that only God can make me happy.”
“In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie that I am an idiot.” “In the name of Jesus Christ, I accept the truth that I have a brilliant and unique mind.”
“In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie that I am unattractive.” “In the name of Jesus Christ, I accept the truth that I am beautifully and wonderfully made.”
“In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie that I am unlovable.” “In the name of Jesus Christ, I accept the truth that I am known and desired by a God who loves me.”
Finally, I’d like to invite anyone to made the act of consecration to your guardian angel as constructed by the ministry Opus Angelorum Sanctorum. If you wish to be consecrated to your guardian angel, please read this consecration with me, which can be found on my website.
CONSECRATION TO GUARDIAN ANGEL
“O Holy Angels of God, here, in the presence of the Triune God and in the love of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer, I, [NAME], poor sinner, want to make a covenant with you, who are his servants, so that in union with you, I might work with humility and fortitude for the glory of God and the coming of his Kingdom. Therefore, I implore you to assist me, especially – in the adoration of God and of the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, – in the contemplation of the word and the salvific works of God, -in the imitation of Christ and in the love of his Cross in a spirit of expiation, – in the faithful fulfillment of my mission within the Church, serving humbly after the example of Mary, my heavenly Mother, your Queen. And you, my good guardian angel, who continually behold the face of our Father in heaven, God entrusted me to you from the very beginning of my life. I thank you with all my heart for your loving care. I commit myself to you and promise you my love and fidelity. I beg you: protect me against my own weakness and against the attacks of the wicked spirits; enlighten my mind and my heart so that I may always know and accomplish the will of God; and lead me to union with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

- Do I try to create time for worship weekly? Do I try to create time for worship daily? Do I recognize that when I enter into places of worship, I am joined by the angels? What is a good time and place for me to visit and worship with the angels?

- Do I believe that Christ is trying to weave for me the best plan for my life? What needs in my life are difficult for me to entrust to God? Do I believe that God can provide for this and wants to provide for this? Jesus, I believe that you want to provide for my needs. Please, help my unbelief.
- Who is someone who has passed on to the next life who may be praying for me now? My dear friend, thank you for praying for me before Christ.

Do I delight in music, dancing, and alcohol in a manner that is akin to what St Paul calls “carousing”? Music, dancing, and alcohol can be very good, but have I allowed myself to be taken by them in a manner that is impure? Lord Jesus, I renounce any such spirits that lead me away from you.
Do I ask for prayers from others when I know I am in need of prayers? Who is someone that I could reach out to help me carry this burden?
Do I invoke the power and authority and presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary in my life? Mary, my mother, you know my struggles. Please assist me in my difficulties and bring joy and peace to my life.

Are there circumstances of my life or my past that are hard to reconcile with? Do I trust in God’s plan for my life, submitting my entire life to his will? Jesus, please help me to conform my heart to the will of the Father. I cry as you did, “Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. But not my will, but your will be done.”
Is it difficult for me to be patient as I wait for God to fulfill the desires of my heart? Do I fight Him? Or do I choose to trust that He wants to bring me joy? Do I pursue Him as my heart’s greatest joy? Jesus, I trust you. I trust that you want to bring great joy to my heart. Please help me pursue your heart above all else.
What is something I wish God would change in my community? Homelessness, the offenses against the dignity of the human person, the lack of hospitality at my Church? Jesus, please help me to be the change that I wish to see in the world.
