As an author, artist, entrepreneur and human and animal rights activist, Alex Henry Foster is a modern day renaissance man. Alex joins the show Zooming in from Tangier, Morocco to introduce us to his newest rescue Robert who was left at his door just a few weeks ago. Back in Virginia, Alex gives us the background on Louna and Leonard as they hold things down while he's overseas. We also pay our respects to his beloved dog MacKaye who crossed the rainbow bridge in late 2024 and Shadow who was his "first furry love". Punk rock stalwart and creative driver behind the band Smirk, Nick Vicario stops by the show to introduce us to his 3 year old Landseer Newfoundland named Jam who he and his wife adopted after having to rehome an Anatolian Shepherd that exhibited some aggressive tendencies. Nick also touches upon his childhood dogs that included a humongous black Schnauzer and larger than life Great Dane/Mastiff mix, the themes behind his songs Dog Years and Domestic Dog and the time he was "pantsed" by Jam. This week we welcome a true hero to shelter dogs in the form of Roadies & Rescues founder Paul Thomas. Paul is a long time live sound engineer who, when sidelined by the pandemic, pivoted to transporting at risk dogs from the California Central Valley to rescue organizations in the Pacific Northwest. His tireless efforts have saved literally hundreds of dogs and other shelter animals. Paul takes us through the inception of Roadies and Rescues, his own history with dogs and who some of the real rock stars are in the animal rescue community. Ben played guitar in The Roots in the early 2000's and bass in Incubus for 20 years before a health crisis forced him to recalibrate his life. We discuss how Ben, as a cat guy, came to add some dog energy into the home, the dogs of his New Jersey youth and how his animals comforted him while he recuperated from major surgery. Thrilled to share our interview with drummer Joe Russo who gives us the background on his 4 year old Golden Retriever Teddy who has become a fan favorite after making some cameo appearances onstage while Joe Russo's Almost Dead jams away. Joe tells us how Teddy came to join him on tour, the positive aspects having a dog on the road and the time when Teddy jumped into a festival crowd. I got an introduction to this week's guest on a Tuesday and recorded the show with him two days later. Love when things come together quickly and happy to share the infectious enthusiasm that Mitski drummer Bruno Esrubilski brings when talking about his 5 year old Miniature Schnauzer Hugo. We get to know Hugo and his grooming habits, whether he'd make his Schnauzer ancestors proud and how an unknown allergy to bees almost cost him the chance to be a big brother to Bruno's newborn son. This week we're throwing it back to the very beginning. Episode 1 premiered on June 21, 2022 and featured bassist Eva Gardner from P!nk. Eva introduced us to her then 16 year old Shepherd mix Willow who sadly crossed the rainbow bridge a couple weeks after the show posted. We also got to know Willow's soul sister Holly as well as her childhood dogs Nesty, Amber (both Rottweilers) and Boots (Husky). I'm forever grateful for Eva in helping to set this passion project in motion as we make our way towards our 200th episode this Summer.

This week we welcome to the pod the multi-talented Jordan Olds. Jordan is currently fronting the foreboding metal band Blood Vulture whose debut album, Die Close, came out last summer. Prior to that he struck YouTube gold as Gwarsenio Hall, the host of the twisted heavy metal themed talk show, Two Minutes to Late Night. In the dog world Kemble is an advocate, foster and rescuer of Bowie, a 9 year old Terrier mix and Frankie, a two year old suspected Hava-poo and Schnauzer traumatized by men and hats. Grammy®-nominated, BRIT Award-winning, Scottish singer songwriter KT Tunstall graces this week's podcast to introduce us to her growing pack of dogs. Her current dog family started with Mini, a 7 year old miniature Pinscher who famously introduced KT to her future husband Chris who was at a dog park with Nova, a 5 year old half Husky, half Eskimo dog. From there they got KT's dream dog Flow, a 2.5 year old Irish Wolfhound, Bran an 8 month old Wolfhound, and charming his way into the family from a neighbors is a Red Heeler appropriately named Otis Reddish. Vocalist/guitarist Alan Day of the band Four Year Strong joins the show today to talk about his trio of dogs Bandit, Kipper and Dasher. Sometimes the image of a perfect dog doesn't synch up with the reality of the dog you end up with. This was the case with this week's guest, Stephen Hunking of the band Dew Claw, whose "beautiful mess of a rescue dog" Mouse wasn't the dog he imagined adopting but soon became the dog he couldn't do without. It's a great story about providing a dog the compassion, patience and space to allow them to come into their own.

Through a generous introduction from a previous guest we are happy to welcome Dan & Shay drummer Andrew Cook to the show. Andrew grew up with Newfoundlands but found himself downsizing as an adult with his two current dogs Boogie, a 6 year old chihuahua mix, and Butters, a 6 year old Pomeranian/Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. This is an encore episode featuring our conversation with 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Peter Frampton.
