For the first time in years, EJ's excited about the Emmy nominations! And he's depressed about the future of video games. But he's excited about the glories of Gail Daughtry, so this is a mostly positive episode.

We're talking about what major director had the best debut and the sheer lunacy of Crimewave, a movie that is not good but also I love with all my heart.
This week, we're sort of looking at the Super Bowl movie trailers. Also, some recent good TV and I'm surprised at how good Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie are. It's largely a positivity episode except for how that Mandalorian teaser was pretty weak.
This week, some things I've been enjoying recently. Ponies, Primal, The Pitt, and at least one other show that doesn't start with 'P'. Also, the Jason Statham Film Festival returns with Shelter and it's always a pleasure to talk about Sam Raimi.

This week, EJ watches his favorite new show of the year, Pluribus! Also, Roofman is surprisingly delightful and we wrap up the Predator franchise (for now) with Badlands, a movie that rules. It's all enthusiasm this week, baby!
This week's episode was hastily thrown together while I edit next week's episode. So we talk a little about Slow Horses, Chair Company, Down Cemetery Road and quite a lot about Predator: Killer of Killers. And then some existential, well, not dread exactly. More like some kind of malaise.
In a little bit of a catch-up episode, we make some Cranksgiving plans, and discuss the alphabetical order of James Bond movies. Plus, the Predator rewatch gets us to the awesome Prey and we compare Drive to the Transporter series. You might say I see things.... a little bit differently.

This week, we're looking at some recent TV shows that have thematic connections if you squint hard enough - Slow Horses, The Lowdown, and Task. Plus some thoughts on Peacemaker and the newly functional DC Universe and in the Franchise Report, we take on Predator and end up joining the Bill Duke Fan Club.
It's a crumbling nightmare world out there, so EJ's talking about the things that make him happy. The movies, games, podcasts, comics, and TV shows that put a smile on his face. Wizards, mysteries, revivals, radical empathy, and Superman. It's a no bummers episode! Except for the implied bummers of living in 2025.
We're getting back to the original premise of the show this week (EJ talks into a microphone to get away from crushing depression). There's a little bit of TV talk but mostly disappointment in the surprise sequel to one of the greatest comedies ever. The vibes are a little weird this week.
It's a media catch-up week with new seasons of Peacemaker and Only Murders in the Building, plus Alien: Earth and The Paper. And over on the movie side, the 50th anniversary re-release of Jaws makes it clear that Jaws is, in fact, a good movie. Who could have known?
Tim Kenny returns to the show to talk about Superman (2025). We both liked it and we have a lot to say! Too much? Possibly! We also talk about the Peacemaker season premiere and the transition from one continuity to another, along with some general DC excitement.
This week, EJ looks at some of the September and October releases that are on his radar, for good or for ill. (Spinal Tap 2 seems, if we're being honest, ill-advised.) Plus, some talk of Long Story Short and Nobody 2.
This week, EJ enjoyed a movie that was probably too scary for him and feels like he's missing important cultural context for Shin Godzilla. We also talk about the second seasons of Platonic and Twisted Metal and check in with the Monsterverse rewatch. There's a lot of monster talk this week!
We're talking about the revivals of The Naked Gun and King of the Hill. Is it OK for Liam Neeson to make a racial profiling joke? Is Dale Gribble still funny after paranoid conspiracy nuts ruined America? We'll talk about it!
Also, in the Franchise Report, we kick off a Monsterverse series with 2014's Godzilla, a movie that is too serious but not in the good way.

This week, EJ makes friends with animals both (very) big and small. Then, he hops on the Switch 2 train and reviews Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. He awkwardly discusses a thing in the Poker Face finale that made him uncomfortable, and then talks the new Jurassic World, Shaun of the Dead, and Annihilation. It's a real grab bag!
This was supposed to be a short episode because I lost my voice but it still seemed important to give my thoughts on Superman (2025) after devoting an entire episode to my enthusiasm. But then I talked for a regular length of time and it's all because I loved Superman so damn much.
We're celebrating 200 episodes (depending on how you count) with some pre-movie Superman talk. EJ talks about some favorite stories, scandalous behavior by comic writers, and actually tears up describing his favorite Superman moment. We wish we could say it's the first time he's cried on this show, but it's been 200 episodes. We've been down some roads.
This week, EJ worries about the fact that people didn't understand a Simpsons episode and now he has thoughts about media literacy. There's some talk about a great video game that he doesn't have time to play, and the Franchise Report takes it to the titular next level with the Jumanji sequel. Probably going to be all Superman talk for the next couple of weeks, so enjoy a variety of topics while you can!
EJ remembers a point he wanted to make about Ballerina, so we're talking about it two weeks in a row. Also, 28 Years Later and no more than 1/3 of Elio. We're talking about the premieres of The Bear and Ironheart, plus the Franchise Report is officially welcomed to the jungle.

EJ is back on the beat after a short vacation in which he helped both a lost dog and a drunk woman. He's got threatrical reports on From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, and a second viewing of The Final Reckoning. Also, the Daredevil Cinematic Universe continues with Spider-Man: No Way Home, easily the best movie in which Matt Murdock has dialogue!
On the verge of a birthday, EJ mostly just wants to talk about The Final Reckoning and Friendship (the Tim Robinson movie, not the abstract concept). Also, he talks up some favorite podcasts and stretches the boundaries of the Daredevil Cinematic Universe to the breaking point as an excuse to rewatch Into the SpiderVerse.
This week, EJ figures out which Jason Statham characters could have prevented the pandemic, checks in with some recent TV show recommendations (Four Seasons! Duster! Murderbot!) and continues the Daredevil Cinematic Universe with Elektra. It's a movie that dares to ask "What if ninja Jennifer Garner but boring?"
This week, EJ watches the trailers for Superman, Nobody 2, and Ironheart. He also talks about them, in case you were wondering how that affected you. He also talks about Chekhov's Helicopter Accident and the new season of Poker Face. And then we wrap up Mission Prep with a re-watch of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning and continue the Daredevil Cinematic Universe with the Director's Cut of the 2003 movie. You know who's good in that movie? Coolio.

This episode has it all! If by "all", you mean "Mission: Impossible trailer talk, some quick takes on recent TV, and a mental health check-in". In the M:I rewatch, we hit Rogue Nation and welcome Ilsa Faust back into our lives, and our trek through the Daredevil Cinematic Universe gets to the actual Daredevil movie. EJ has thoughts!
We wrap up the Jason Statham Film Festival with a brief look at A Working Man and conclude that watching 50 movies of wildly varying quality was a good use of time. Plus, there's some Severance Season 2 talk, the Mission: Impossible rewatch continues, and EJ begins the Daredevil Cinematic Universe with The Trial of the Incredible Hulk. What do we do next week without a Jason Statham movie? Who can say? It's a new world and we're not excited about it.
We're reaching the end of the Jason Statham Film Festival, so we're closing it out with our friend, and huge Statham fan, Gen to talk about The Beekeeper. Statham's biggest solo hit and an absolutely bonkers movie, we're geeking out over the movie and the man in general. We also try to fit the Beekeeper into the Mission: Impossible universe and you know how awesome that would be.

This week we talk about a couple of celebrity deaths and EJ commits to trying to watch Twin Peaks. He talks about seeing a TIm Heidecker show for free and the absolutely wild new origin for animated Spider-Man. The Jason Statham Film Festival speeds toward its conclusion with Meg 2: The Trench, a movie covered on this show in its initial release. That's right, we've talked about Meg 2 twice. We'll probably talk about it again sometime. Don't test us! We're not bluffing!
This week, EJ is excited about Severance and appalled by Saturday Night Live. He's also pretty darn pleased with Captain America: Brave New World and hates that so many nerds are right-wing. In the Franchise Report, John Wick 4 might be the best movie, and over at the Jason Statham Film Festival, find out where Fast X ranks in the overall Statham filmography. (Hint: Low. Think In the Name of the King and then go down several spots.)
Zach Dirksen (Fool's Gold Variety Hour) joins us to talk about 2023's overlooked Jason Statham movie Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre. It's a weird movie that nobody noticed, but it's super fun, even if you want it to just generally be better. We also talk about Daredevil and Blank Check more than you might expect. Or exactly as much as you'd expect, given how things usually go around here.
This week, we're dealing with Vin Diesel's absolutely bonkers social media post about how Fast X Part 2 will heal Los Angeles, and then the Jason Statham Film Festival takes a look at F9: The Fast Saga. This episode is largely about being disappointed in Vin Diesel.

Happy Holidays! In keeping with tradition, we have an original Christmas story that EJ sent to his friends a couple of years ago and hasn't looked at since. Will he enjoy jokes he made in the past? Will he be disappointed in the ending? And most important, can anybody solve The Murder at Christmas Manor?
It's our favorite annual tradition, as ADHD-DVD's Hayley Leier stops by to talk about the best TV of the year. And since TV spent most of the year getting back on track after last year's strikes, it was kind of a weird year without a clear consensus favorite. But we still had plenty of winners to talk about as we dig into Fargo, The Bear, Girls5Eva, Somebody Somewhere, Interior Chinatown, and so much more. For the second week in a row, there's an attempt to figure out how famous Eiza Gonzalez is, plenty of tangents, and some real talk with North America's most trusted culture critic.

We try to work out how we feel about the Rock these days, revel in some big stupid stunts, try to figure out if Eiza Gonzalez was already famous when she appeared in this movie, and also we talk about the Penguin. It's Cranksgiving! You know, the holiday when people watch both Crank movies. For our fourth annual Cranksgiving episode, it's the Cranksgiving Drinking Game. We'll talk about the rules in the episode, but EJ gets very drunk and more personal than you might expect. Also, Crank rules. Honestly, this is a messy episode. Maybe it's funny, but at the very least we take the stance that all other movies can eat a butt.
EJ is dealing with a lot of stuff after the election. He's maybe not smart or informed enough to just talk politics at length, but he needs this. But after a lot of rambling, he has a couple of delightful movies to discuss. We're all doing our best over here.
EJ has news of an important lifestyle change and then talks a lot about a TV show and a video game, both from 2019. Perpetual Grace, Ltd and Baba Is You are both great but only one of them has Ben Kingsley singing "When Doves Cry". And in the Jason Statham Film Festival, we finally meet The Meg.
Yes, there is some saucy talk but nothing that will require you to picture EJ doing anything disreputable or even fun. We've got thoughts on The Wild Robot, Agatha All Along, and Penguin. Plus Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is a tearjerker and the Jason Statham Film Festival looks at Fate of the Furious for some great action scenes and also some complete nonsense.
We're celebrating the 20th Anniversary of LOST with fan-favorite Hayley Leier (ADHD-DVD). Just having a great time talking about our favorite show: The episodes we keep rewatching, our theories that didn't pan out, our favorite characters and the love we still have for all those Lostaways. It was an absolute joy to record and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

We talk about Deckard Shaw, the sometimes moving and sometimes bizarre ways they handled Paul Walker's death during filming, the franchise as a whole, the absolute shocking presence of Djimon Hounsou, and whether or not the streets do, in fact, always win. Plus all the tangents you've come to expect from a guest episode! We had a lot of fun and you will to! And then you should check out Lenny's podcasts and just be awash in fun.
Returning Champion Hayley Leier (ADHD-DVD) is back to talk about 2015's Spy, an out-and-out comedy where our guy gets to be really funny. We discuss Melissa McCarthy's career, how much Wonder Woman 1984 does not exist, Walton Goggins (who is not in the movie), and we spend a lot of time talking about comedy podcasts. This was so much fun to record and you will enjoy it unless you're an absolute pill.
This week, EJ's avoiding the real world by watching The Bear and House of the Dragon. Plus, The Quick and the Dead absolutely rules, Ant-Man 3 remains delightful no matter what anybody says, and in the Jason Statham Film Festival, EJ turns out to be the number one fan of Wild Card. It's an occasionally thoughtful drama about a gambling addict who also has Bullseye powers and can kill you with a credit card.
True life stories of awkward interactions! Positive reviews of nerd TV shows that have made dummies angry for bad reasons! The Franchise Report brings us back to the days of the weird credits in Wakanda Forever, and the Jason Statham Film Festival gets into Expendables 3 and the appearance of Baby Glen Powell.
It's all movie talk this week as EJ goes to the theater for Inside Out 2, and then re-watches Arrival and experiences the actual madness of Clifford. In the Franchise Report, he finishes the Dirty Harry series after what feels like years, and the Jason Statham Film Festival brings us Homefront, a movie that seems like it's going to be bad but turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable. Mostly good movies this week!

It’s a fun discussion that occasionally works its way back to the movie!
This week, EJ has a trivia update and a depressing look inside his birthday celebration. The Acolyte and Hacks are good TV shows, and the Jason Statham Film Festival brings us Redemption (or as some people call it, Hummingbird), a movie that's surprisingly good and almost great.
EJ is pleased to report that he's enjoying the new season of Doctor Who. Also, he had a great time at Furiosa and doesn't care about the box office. In the Franchise Report, the Dirty Harry movies continue to be not nearly as good as he remembers. And the Jason Statham Film Festival brings us the underrated Parker. We're watching things!
One more episode of Ape Talk as EJ remembers when somebody got stabbed at his showing of King Kong (2005) and reflects on comics' greatest gorillas. In the franchise report, the third Dirty Harry movie is eminently forgettable and the Jason Statham Film Festival brings us the mixed bag that is Expendables 2.

This week, EJ remembers to talk about the new season of Fargo. Also, he doesn't spoil the wild thing that happens in Sugar but he does mention that a wild thing happens in Sugar. In movie news, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is good, Magnum Force is not, and in the Jason Statham Film Festival, he wanted to like safe more than he did. Plus, he hits 500 issues in his Daredevil reading project and he would like some credit for that.
This week, EJ talks more about a single picture of Superman than you would ever think possible. There's some TV talk and then we go to the movies and check out The Fall Guy. Plus, the franchise report looks at War for the Planet of the Apes and the Jason Statham Film Festival has more enthusiasm for Killer Elite than the movie probably warrants.
This week, EJ is feeling bleak but at least he watched Fallout and Baby Reindeer, among other things. He says at least one thing that he definitely should have cut from the episode before getting into movie talk, including Civil War and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Plus, the Franchise Report witnesses the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Blitz is one of the nicest surprises of the Jason Statham Film Festival.
