If you're curious about the rise and now fall-ing of plant-based meats, you're not alone. Price, health, and taste all play a role in the decline. Personally, I believe in organic, whole foods whenever possible. Real food, without being processed, that are recognized and digested properly in the body. Finding sustainable foods with an environmental low impact is extremely important. These faux/plant based meats play a role and have a place. Today I compare two of the most popular ones out there. Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods. Can you guess which one I like better?

Impossible Foods launched its first meat in 2016. https://impossiblefoods.com/
Beyond Meat launched in the US in 2012 https://www.beyondmeat.com/en-US/

Dr. Chen followed her passion and obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She then went on to the world-renowned University of California, Davis, to finish her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, graduating in 2007. Dr. Chen completed an internship at an emergency and specialty animal hospital, and she has been in general practice caring for dogs and cats ever since. She practiced for many years in the West Hollywood area before moving to the Palos Verdes Peninsula with her family.

Dr. Chen completed additional training and became a certified veterinary acupuncturist in 2013. Amazed by the miraculous results in many of her patients in response to acupuncture, she continued her training in veterinary food therapy and veterinary Chinese herbal therapy. In more than a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Chen has found that traditional Chinese medicine complements and balances conventional medicine. Many chronic conditions and diseases can be successfully treated and managed with a more gentle and holistic approach. Treating the body as a whole promotes natural healing and better health.

The Integrative Pet Wellness Center is a storefront clinic where Dr Lily and her team will be living out their ‘unicorn-ness’ as they seek to grow and change the vet med profession a little bit, thinking outside the box and doing something exciting and different.

It’s not going to be a veterinary practice—rather, a veterinary experience—unlike anything you’ve seen. What does that mean exactly?

  • An integrative practice
  • Making pet care less stressful and more joyful
  • Combining conventional medicine with holistic medicine to tailor treatment to each individual patient
  • Preventive care, to promote holistic living rather than simply treating symptoms
  • Serving those who are seeking veterinary services that are more personalized, with a holistic emphasis
  • Having a true connection and building trust with clients
  • Listening, honoring, and supporting pet parents in their journey – offering options and guidance but never dictate tests or treatments

Connect with Dr. Judy Jasek on her website.

Dr Judy received her formal education at Colorado State University, including a bachelor’s
degree in Zoology in 1984, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1988.
Following graduation, she started her career in a rural, mixed-animal practice in Pocatello,
ID. She then relocated to the Salt Lake City, UT area before returning to Denver, CO in
2001. She purchased a practice in Englewood, Co in 2003, which she transitioned from a
conventional practice to one with a strong holistic foundation. She sold this practice in 2015
and now operates a practice out of her home in Littleton, Co.
Using the knowledge gained in her 30+ years of practicing, Dr Judy has developed a unique
whole-body approach to both treating and preventing disease. She looks at the whole
animal, and supports the natural healing ability of the body with proper nutrition,
detoxification, and eliminating the underlying causes of disease. She then uses tools such
as ozone, herbs, cbd, essential oils, and whole food supplements to optimize the health of
the body and help it to eliminate the disease.
She does not believe in a magic-bullet approach, whether it is using an herb or a
conventional pharmaceutical. The body is a biological system and needs to be supported in
many different aspects. Her wellness plans begin helping at a young age, addressing
nutrition and reducing the use of vaccines and pharmaceuticals to help the pet get off to a
great start with a strong immune system.
In her personal time, she has found that spending time in nature is both inspiring and
rejuvenating. She loves to spend time hiking, snowshoeing, and camping with her husband
Chris. When at home she enjoys reading, running, gardening, cooking, and is always
looking for new things to learn.
Her personal pet and teacher is Wylie, a Chihuahua mix, who is always in her shadow.

Marc Halprin discovered the miracle of CBD because of his Labrador and Co-Founder Coool. Marc was hands-on in the creation of his premier, full spectrum CBD hemp oil for pets. I was so impressed with his company; from the product to the customer service that was beyond helpful, to their website with a great lay out and easy to find information. I saw the benefits hands on with my Chihuahua and I wanted to share my experience. There are a gazillion CBD products out there, but many are not a quality product, so I don't want people to be deterred from CBD if the product they chose didn't work. In this talk you will learn so much about CBD and what you need to know and look out for.

We speak about what inspired her and how she was at the forefront of this movement and where we are now with so much being done to help curb our single-use plastic consumption.

For "Plastic Free July", I talked with Rob Greenfield. He's an environmental activist, humanitarian, writer, adventurer and friend. He chooses to take on extreme projects in an effort to inspire people to want to make a change. His latest project has been to wear all of his trash, by living like the average person, as he says "floating along in the breeze of consumerism". I spoke to him on the last day of wearing 30 days of his waste. Rob tells us all about the experience and the response he got. You might be surprised. We also chatted about how he started on this venture of living a more simple, sustainable life and his numerous extreme projects he's taken on over the years. I had the chance to see him literally grow over the 30 days while he was here in Los Angeles and watch his commitment and laser focus for this project he completed and why it's so important to him. Listen in to hear his sustainable story and why "sustainability to me is freedom".

Thermography is a is an incredible non-invasive way to see whats going on in the body with digital infrared thermal imaging. Dr April Goebel is a chiropractor and a thermographer that I personally have been seeing for over 10 years. I find this preventive care to be invaluable. By having a fingerprint of your breast (or the body part you are targeting) allows you to see the physiologic changes early on that might not be detectable mammographically. Dr Goebel talks about its benefits, how it can work in tandem with other methods as well as the benefits of chiropractic care.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Good for You, Good for the Planet,
Tiffany Paige
