Voices of Power

AIATSIS

4 Episodes

The series explores critical turning points in the fight for rights and self- determination; and for meaningful First Nations’ representation in places of power. Indigenous Churchill Fellows from around Australia, share their views and experiences on what they see as the key influences and events that have shaped Australia’s history and what a strong future looks like. How have events like the 1965 Freedom Ride, the Mabo decision, the 2007 UN Declaration on the Rights of indigenous Peoples and the 2017 Uluru Statement changed our history? Voices of Power looks at the calls for a strong First Nations’ voice in Australia’s political and cultural life. Will those calls be answered? Voices of Power is produced by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, AIATSIS, in partnership with the Churchill Trust.
