Why Prepping 1.0? Because as my martial arts teacher used to tell me, “It is through the mastery of small disciplines that we become capable of greater things and, indeed, anything”. Unless you've got your bullets, beans and band-aids tied off and accounted for, you have no business thinking about anything else!

We spoke a little about who you DO NOT want in your MAG already.  What sort of people would make GOOD recruits?

What sort of skills and personality traits should you look for in a potential recruit?

Here's a hint - it's not just cool gear and a fancy gun.  It's not even just about combat experience or time working in an ER!

We'll get into a bit of it all here today.

In this episode, I begin the discussion around saving seeds from your garden so that you don't need to buy seeds every year for another harvest.  You won't be able to buy seeds during a collapse, so it'd be good to be able to learn how to get new seeds, every year, for free!

In this first, intro episode, we discuss basics such as Open Pollination, Cross Pollination, Hybrid vs. Heirloom seeds and more.

Talk to you soon!

In this episode, we'll review several fuel types that all preppers should consider storing in preparation for a collapse or "SHTF" event.  We will briefly introduce the fuel type, some of the challenges you may have with storing it, and what it can be used for.

In a future episode about fuel, we will dig more into the details, but this is a good introduction.

This is a high-level look at security and how to prepare.  The three pillars are:

  1. The Circle of Force
  2. The Battery of 5
  3. The Walk of Peace

What are they?  How do they work?  How do you incorporate them into your life.  Let's talk about that!

Composting is a cheap way to make great dirt for your garden.  In the event of a collapse, you won't be able to hit the local big box store to pick up some potting soil or a box of Miracle Grow.

We'll talk today about how to turn your trash into treasure with composting.

An introduction to the "2 Ribbons," the two forces that keep our American culture and people safe against outside threats and inside vulnerabilities.

The first ribbon, a blue ribbon, consists of law enforcement, fire departments and medical care.  The second ribbon consists of the armed forces, national guard and more.

What happens when one of these ribbons is stressed by, say, rioting or pandemics?  How is the other ribbon affected?  How do they affect each other?  What happens to the populace and culture of the US if they begin to fray?  Fail?

I went through a few pandemics when I was living abroad in China, but this experience in the US was different.  This time I was in my home country, with a family and as a prepper.

Here are some of the things I learned about people, prepping and pandemics.

An introduction to rabbits, a great prepper food!  Easy to obtain, easy to maintain, easy to grow in population.  They are quite, hardy and a delicious, nutritious meal!

Not big on killing cute rabbits unless you have to?  No problem!  You can still have rabbits and use their manure for your garden - gardeners often buy bags of rabbit manure for this very purpose.

No matter which way you slice it, these little guys are quiet, tasty preps.

Today we give a high-level overview of that very important prep, water.

Yes, it's a little more boring than other preps, but that's only because you have so much of it now!  You can't live more than 3 days without water, so listen up good!

Now that we talk about HOW long to prepare and WHAT to prepare, let's talk a bit about what could be causing you to prepare, and how that affects your preps.

Last episode we talked about how long to prep with the Circle of 3s.  Today we talk a little bit about what to prep with Maslow's Hierarchy.  The bottom two layers (bullets, band-aids and beans) have "Prepping 1.0" written all over them!

How long should you prepare for?  What amount of time should you consider when purchasing your preps?  How much of... anything should you buy?

In this episode we discuss the Circle of 3s, a handy little tool you can use to answer this question and more.
