After wanting to sit down with Fraser since we started the pod, we finally managed to grab him on a visit to our roastery last month. Fraser is the founder of EH9 Espresso in Dundee and a coffee conscious of the highest degree, having created easily the most popular and hip cafe in the whole of Dundee (and probably beyond).

This week we're discussing the 'race to the bottom' and how that relates to specialty coffee. Broadly speaking, this is an interesting conversation that addresses some of the very basics of coffee quality and price, but explores the important decisions that coffee roasters are faced when trying to remain competitive.
For us, brand credibility is something that can't be overlooked when decreasing prices. It can feel a bit like playing a long game to ride out tough economic conditions, but we feel that protecting your brand is crucial to get out of it with merit in your business.
