Transcript: "Welcome back. My name is Fabio Boulle and welcome back once again to the offshore marketer show, it's been quite a while, to say the least, obviously, if you have followed the show last episode and I kind of close out the season one was that I actually had to do an emergency treatment in Houston, which was, we actually traveled and spent about five months or something.
And so I'd say 2031, it's been quite a year for me, given that I had to spend quite a while in, in US, which I actually enjoy. But, you know, I was still apart from my family my newborn baby at the time. Now he is about seven months old, almost eight months. But I can finally say I'm back in good health.
Still recovering, you know, I still have to get through my emotions of getting my strength back, getting fit again, and going through a cancerous disease, it's always quite something unique in your life and something that I don't wish anyone goes through. And I am lucky that you know, I'm here, I'm alive.
But nevertheless, we are going ahead with a show. And today it's all about what we actually going to plan, or going to do so stick around in the next 10 minutes so that I can show you, what am I going to do for the next couple of months, maybe a year. But first of all, don't forget to subscribe to our podcast, whether you are on iTunes, Spotify Amazon Google, don't forget to subscribe to the show. So first of all, I want to say thank you to Dr. Lee and his team at MD Anderson in Houston, who treated me.
It was because of Dr. Lee's advice to treat this Hodgkin's disease that I actually made it. I was able to go through this treatment, there was actually a clinical trial and the good news is that everyone actually was in remission. I'm not sure if I should be telling this, but Hey, it's good news.
I think it's really good news. Right. Also, my parents that, you know, really supported me on sending me out to Houston, as well as my dad's specifically cause he actually went in with me and he spent all the treatment there. So I wasn't really alone.
So it was very, very good to have him around a while during these treatments because you don't, you just feel very moody, very bad, you know, and those who have been through cancer and chemo, it's really something that I wish no one could ever go through. Lastly, my wife, and also those who carried me in prayer.
I believe in prayer. I believe in prayer really helps and really makes unique changes in your life. And so my wife and those who were with her really prayed for my healing. And so my wife was just as strong as she could ever be taking care of our children.
Maintaining her emotional health so that she could see me back here in Mauritius. And so. It was kind of interesting when I come back to Mauritius, I got these cowboy hats in the stockyards in Fort worth which is about, 20, I think, 30 miles from Dallas.
And it was pretty cool to actually see these Cowboys and them riding bulls and horses and wild bulls. And so when I arrived in brushes, it's kind of was interesting to see all the Mauritians looking at this guy wearing a cowboy hat thinking where's this cowboy coming from, and you feel the looks and especially that I speak English, I mean, my French isn't perfect.
I speak a bit of French, but you know, people thinking, oh, you're a resident. Oh, Oh, you're married to a Mauritian. Okay. Okay. But you know, you still wearing your cowboy hat, so people just act very funnily in the sense that they just give you a very funny look, just because of cowboy hats. So I thought that was kind of funny to experience.
So anyway, this experience of dealing with such a disease as cancer gave me a new perspective. And as a 30-year-old man husband, a father of two has changed me forever. And throughout those five years that I was apart from my family, I had to deal with a lot of my own negative thoughts, of my own demons. And I just had to fight through and really. Focusing on a goal of survival, no matter what day it was. And I had to keep calm. I had to go through this whole treatment, knowing that after all this, I could go back to my family and leave all this behind.
There were days that I felt really unhappy. I felt hopeless. I felt like, thinking why is this happening to me? God, please take me home. I don't want to be here. When is this all going to end? And so on and so on and so on
And so I guess my beliefs probably have shifted. Now I guess I'm more of a philosophical person where my faith, my family, and the pursuit of my happiness really are the pillars of my journey.
So maybe I've been given a second chance to live. I don't know. What I do know is certain things, probably more material things or material listicle things that were less important are even less, less important today. And. I don't want to criticize or bash people around, but in the current world we have on various social media platforms you have people showing off and it's fine.
And I don't want anything materialistic like that.
Obviously, if I had the opportunity, I wouldn't say no. I think you should use or utilize the resources that you have to amplify your message. And so these kinds of possessions, they just very superficial for me. And it's just, I don't need them. I don't feel I need them, but I do feel that I will at some point need the resources to create something bigger.
When I came to the conclusion and also the conclusion that I wasn't taking enough risk in my life I came up with a really old interview with the great Bob Marley that he was asked. So Mr. Marley, do you have possessions? Are you rich? And he says, what do you mean by rich? Possessions make you rich? I don't have those types of riches. My riches are life forever. And long and behold, his music still is alive and kicking and will probably be here forever cause he really changes the reggae industry forever. So I'm blessed that I made it. I am still here alive. And so my rich is life and that will be forever, which then we can go ahead and talk about the next step of this journey of my journey, which is where is this podcast going to go?
What am I going to do? And I had about, I'd say a few months now to think about what I wanted to do. And I like to think of myself as let's say the captain of my ship of the offshore marketers, and I have to lead you into the final destination.
And so after doing some serious thinking and at the end of the day give you a journey that both of us could actually learn from the experience of becoming a better marketeer, a better business owner or a better leader, creating a strong relationship which will have so much value between us would be one of my objectives by doing this podcast.
And so I want to build my tribe. I want to build my community, a massive community that can actually grow together, help each other out, find the answers to those questions. And obviously, you play a very important role, but we have to face the fact that we actually all very different, very different. We have different skills, different beliefs, different cultures.
We look at things very differently. And knowing that I think we probably want the same thing. And at the time. I think it was Kennedy kind of like said to these NASA scientists saying we are going to be the first ones, put the man on the moon. They all wanted something, which I believe personally was growth as personal growth, as a scientist grows as growth as an individual.
And so when we want growth, we have to expand our knowledge. We have to expand our risks and take the risk and that's what I'm want to do. And in this case, I want to start growing a small little thing, which obviously it's a podcast, but it's also a business.
I've always been kind of confused about the actual process or the framework of launching an idea into a business. So whether you have a particular skill, a product, a service, in my personal opinion, there must be a universal framework that actually applies to any type of business, whether it is a brick and mortar, or is it an online business?
Whichever it is. There are obviously so many different books, so many different gurus or experts that are teaching various ways to launch a business. But my question was an, is how much of what they teach do they actually use? And what I mean is, if someone tells you, you must first build and launch a funnel to start selling your book. Another person says actually, before you probably do that, focus on building an email list or even you should do probably affiliate marketing and do a cross-selling of different products. And, you know, probably the list goes on and on, but I never came across actually building the foundations before launching a funnel building and lists or partnering in a Joint Venture.
So where do we start? I have actually been told a few times to do market research before creating a product or starting a marketing plan.
What does actually mean of doing the market research? And before we do anything, should we start here? Should we start by doing some market research? Well, as part of this journey, one of my starting objectives will be to research the simplest ways to lay down the foundations of building a business.
And that's probably, what's going to be. Initially on these first few episodes coming on. And so if we have the foundations of a business from a small idea into a big brand, we can eventually impact millions. Maybe the world who knows we have, we are dreamers, we are entrepreneurs. And so we want the freedom of that structure. And then it's a structure that we can really have a scalable structure that we can actually use and grow. So obviously I have to simplify and create a framework after I researched the simplest ways of laying down these formations so that the chances of launching a successful business.
Again, whether or not it is online goes up and our time and effort of accomplishing yet go down. And so that's where I want to focus going forward. I will share stories. I will share secrets and I find skills that you need from the best marketers. And also we will have experts talking about those skills that they have their stories and even any anyone that I find very interesting to give their perspective on how they actually build their business, how they actually founded their own business and to make things really interesting as I learn I will try to apply as much as I can to test things out and to see actually what works, what doesn't work and share it with you.
So in the end, you will be the judge, obviously, I think is it's important as a disclaimer that to tell you that the only. I know if that actually works is from time to time to actually make you an offer or some people call it an irresistible offer, like Dan Kennedy.
And so the idea is to really see what works, what doesn't work. It could be really something simple. Like, "Hey, just go here, support the show and become a paid subscriber, like in Patreon so forth so that we can actually grow and create a better show."
Get better equipment that actually going to help us grow the show. Or could actually be an offer on the table where I think this product, I tried it.
It's so cool. And you should try it out and see if you actually enjoyed it. But again, I just wanted to be totally upfront and honest. I want to learn and I want to share with you. That's why I want to be honest, upfront. We're going to aim for episodes on a weekly basis on a specific topic. And if you think this is a cool project and you want to follow this journey, then go ahead and subscribe to the show today, if you haven't yet.
If you listening on iTunes, don't forget to also leave me a review. I hope for five-star reviews so that we can get more people to hear about us.
And if you want to actually help out with the expansion and, probably get listeners to be more aware of this show, please share to friends or to family, or need just someone that you think will help. And I will really appreciate your act of generosity. So thanks for listening today.
And we will talk to you next week. Have a good one and I'll speak to you soon. Bye for now."
Around the 10th of May of 2021, Doctors in Mauritius found a small lump on my neck which then I was diagnosed with an illness called Hodgkin's Lymphoma Disease. Basically, it is a blood cancer.
Although it sounds worse than it is, this type of disease was found quite a while ago (30 years ago or so) and 90% of patients recover & stay in remission after 5 years. Also, it only affects around 9000 people in the US per year.
Everything happened so fast that after 2 weeks of being diagnosed, I left the tiny island of Mauritius to come to get treated in Houston, Texas.
I had to leave my wife (Francesca) and my 2 children (Johanna, three years old, and Jean, 3 months old).
In this episode, I talk to Ronnie Teja about how to build a successful brand and avoid mistakes that made Ronnie a better brand builder.
