Redeemer Church is located in Stillwater, OK. We are a church of Gospel Communities committed to knowing Jesus and making Jesus known at all times, in all place, to all peoples.
We are going to be in 1 Corinthians for most of the year. I've titled the series "A Hot Mess" because it really does capture the Corinthian Church and the American Church. From divisions, discipline, sexuality issues, male/female dynamics, gifts (spiritual and otherwise), love of one another and neighbor, glorifying God, and the basics of the good news message. The one constant through all this is the good news. The gospel has something to say to all of life, and the aim of the Corinthian letter is to bring the church into faithful obedience to King Jesus in all of life both individually and corporately. The Church is not perfect right now, and we mess up on a lot of things. We are truly a hot mess, but we are Jesus' hot mess and in his love he is making us whole.

There are many things in our fallen world that burden us as we struggle under their weight. Our efforts to make our lives what we want them to be or to endure trouble and affliction in our own strength has only left us tired and weary as our deep needs are revealed. But Jesus invites us to come to Him to receive the rest and refreshment our souls long for because His loving heart for us deeply delights in this.

We will be spending 2 weeks looking at John 15:1-17. In this passage Jesus describes himself as the vine and us as the branches of that vine, provided that we abide in him. We will be digging into what it looks like to abide in Jesus and what it means to be united in the vine with other branches. This series will be a probe into both vertical (God and man) and horizontal (man and man) reconciliation and will in many ways continue the theme of our Advent series.
