In Episode 120 of Fireside America, host Ryan Robbins sits down with Kurt, a father, husband, sommelier, and boutique wine shop owner, to unpack a life built on faith, integrity, adoption, and entrepreneurship. This isn’t just a story about starting a small business — it’s about breaking the mold, finding your identity, and turning your values into a legacy.

Adopted as a child, Kurt grew up with a deep appreciation for family and a quiet drive to make those around him proud. That same spirit would guide him decades later as he left his high-paying corporate job at Kraft and Cadbury to pursue a completely different dream: owning a small, organic wine shop in Demarest, New Jersey — one rooted in connection, storytelling, and trust.

But Kurt’s journey is anything but typical. Alongside his wife, he chose to adopt a Black daughter through the U.S. foster system, expanding not just his family but also his perspective. In a world obsessed with labeling and division, Kurt’s story is a breath of fresh air — a man who doesn’t see color as a barrier, but as part of the beauty of humanity.

Ryan and Kurt explore what it means to be a white parent raising a Black daughter, the tension between public perception and private truth, and why love, not blood, defines a real family. They also talk about men’s mental load, late-career pivots, and how faith, struggle, and wine all carry the same spiritual lessons — that complexity comes from adversity, and the richest vintages are born from the harshest soil.

Whether you’re a parent, a wine lover, a small business owner, or someone looking to find deeper meaning in your life, this episode will challenge you to think bigger, love harder, and live more authentically.

In this gripping episode of Fireside America, Ryan Robbins sits down with insurance industry renegade Rick J. Lindsey, the CEO of XINSURANCE and Prime Insurance Company, to expose the hard truth about how America’s insurance system is failing its policyholders. With over four decades in the industry, Rick unpacks what makes him one of the most disruptive and effective figures in high-risk insurance today.

From helicopter ski guides and truckers to high-net-worth homeowners and celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Rick Lindsey has built his career around saying yes to clients the big-box insurance carriers walk away from. He doesn’t just issue policies—he partners with his insureds and goes to war with them when the legal system comes knocking.

In this raw and no-nonsense conversation, you’ll hear:

  • Why most home, auto, and commercial policies are “cans of corn”—mass-produced, one-size-fits-all products that collapse when you file a serious claim
  • Why traditional insurance companies hide behind fine print, deductibles, and third-party adjusters
  • How Rick uses real risk-sharing to align with clients—and why XINSURANCE will fight in court when others fold
  • The truth behind multi-million-dollar claims, personal guarantees, and the internal dysfunction of most carriers
  • What it takes to build a $500M insurance company from scratch
  • Why deductibles are outdated and dangerous for business owners, athletes, entertainers, and real estate investors alike
  • How the legal system weaponizes weak insurance policies against entrepreneurs—and how to defend yourself
  • Why buyers need to stop shopping on price and start asking: “Will this partner show up on my worst day?”

Rick also shares behind-the-scenes stories of going to the Supreme Court, refusing to settle frivolous lawsuits, and how he handles over $30 million in active litigation. This episode is a must-watch for business owners, risk managers, and anyone who wants to protect their assets, reputation, and future.

If you’re searching for custom liability insurance, personal risk management, alternative business insurance, or insight from a real insurance CEO—this episode is packed with real-world takeaways.

👉 Learn why XINSURANCE isn’t just another policy—it’s a partnership built for when shit hits the fan.

In this powerful episode of the Fireside America Podcast, host Ryan Robbins sits down with Drew and his wife—a SWAT officer and a schoolteacher—who share a deeply personal story about their son, Salvatore. A young police officer in New Jersey, Salvatore answered a frantic 911 call that led to a fatal encounter with a reportedly armed homeowner. Initially cleared by the Attorney General’s shooting response team, he was later indicted nearly two years after the incident, when a new AG administration reopened the case.

Drawing upon bodycam footage, the homeowner’s 911 call, and statements from the family, Drew and his wife shed light on the critical evidence that was withheld from the grand jury—evidence suggesting Salvatore acted within the bounds of reasonable force. What unfolds is a broader discussion of how political climates, media narratives, and changing leadership can thrust law enforcement officers into legal jeopardy—sometimes without all the facts.

With Salvatore now fighting for his freedom and future, his parents bring a passionate plea for transparency, accountability, and support for police who find themselves in impossible, life-threatening situations. Whether you’re a member of law enforcement, a concerned citizen, or simply an advocate for civil liberties, this episode offers an unfiltered look at how swiftly lives can be upended in the line of duty—and why this case has implications for all Americans.

In this episode, Ryan sits down with basketball skills coach and former public school teacher, Nick Aldiero, who shares why he decided to leave the classroom for the court. Nick opens up about the frustrations of a system that rewards tenure over excellence, and how he realized he had more to offer young athletes than just grading papers and enforcing lunch duties. Determined to build a small business around his passion for skill development, Nick hired a mentor to guide him through sales, marketing, and the transition away from one-size-fits-all teaching. In this episode, Ryan sits down with political commentator and strategist Mike Crispi to expose the tangled web of New Jersey’s entrenched party bosses and the corrupt ballot “line” system that controls who truly holds power in the state. Crispi, drawing on his own experiences challenging the establishment, reveals how the system stifles authentic candidates and real change, making it nearly impossible for genuine America First policies to break through.

He offers a roadmap for dismantling this machine, calling out the political mafia and emphasizing that without honest primaries and grassroots awakening, true reform remains out of reach. Mike also delves into bigger-picture issues, from the twisted moral fabric of national politics to the global power plays behind figures like Obama and the health agendas championed by RFK. He and Ryan explore controversial subjects like forced vaccines, the sexualization of children in schools, and the erasure of traditional values in American life.

Crispi argues that only by embracing strong alpha leadership, preserving family units, and returning to a meritocracy can the nation truly heal. Throughout their candid, no-holds-barred conversation, Mike and Ryan refuse to yield to political correctness or intimidation. They demonstrate that unwavering loyalty to principles, not party bosses or big money interests, holds the key to restoring freedom, honesty, and opportunity for the next generation in both New Jersey and beyond.

Mike Zusman was the founder of cybersecurity firm Carve Systems prior to acquisition by iVision, where he currently serves as the VP of Cybersecurity. Mike got his start tinkering in computing at a young age, eventually working on e-commerce projects for a small telecommunications company, taking their revenues to multiple seven figures over his tenure. In the midst of it all, he began identifying weaknesses in cybersecurity, which led him to a stint with an Israeli-based firm doing "ethical hacking," prior to launching Carve Systems. This was a super interesting conversation and the first of its kind on Fireside America. Enjoy!

Rawlings Barnes is a serial entrepreneur holding multiple executive-level positions, including CEO of 1 Mission Nutrition, Founder of FiftyX2 Apparel and COO of Maryland Fleet Center. Rawlings has a passion to deliver results through enhanced sales strategies, more efficient processes, and ongoing employee development.

He brings over 25 years of business experience to the table with a career spanning multiple industries, giving him valuable "outside the box" insight and experience into the inner workings of any company.

Rawlings flew his own Cessna from North Carolina to Monmouth County for a weekend at the Jersey Shore, and brought tremendous value to everyone he met.

We chopped it up fireside about his riches-to-rags childhood, which fueled his motivation to return to riches as an adult. Rawlings was also a featured guest at our first ever Fireside America Men’s Retreat, alongside business juggernaut Rob Bailey, patriot like Ian Smith, former US Navy SEAL Wes Andreason and the Duncan Defense squad of Mike Duncan and Joe Ahlert.

This was a powerful conversation with a soft-spoken savage who has mentored some of the nation’s top entrepreneurs. Enjoy!

Based out of Idaho, USA, Nick has built an impressive business that includes his ultra-popular “OMNICARRY” holster, which comfortably accommodates more than 200 handguns. Nick and I connected through Sean Whalen’s “The Lion’s Den” and hit it off immediately, so I was super excited when we were able to put together this cross-country hang. We discussed quitting unfulfilling jobs, taking chances on ourselves, “personality scores” and all of the trials and tribulations that come along with the human experience. Nick’s facilities have a capacity to output 3,600 holsters per month, and sights are set on scaling operations, with a personal goal of an exit in the next decade. It was a short but worthwhile time showing Nick the ropes of the Jersey Shore, and I hope you enjoyed this conversation as much as we did. Cheers!
