The fanboys are out to play! This week, our good friend John joins us to review the first ever 'Slam Dunk' movie, based on the popular manga and anime series created by Takehiko Inoue. 'The First Slam Dunk' is basically the story that takes place after the end of anime as the Shohoku high school basketball team faces the the the inter-high basketball champions, Sannoh, in an intense final. The movie also centres around the point guard Ryota Miyagi, and his childhood in Okinawa.

As you can see from all the Slam Dunk merchandise laid out on the table, the boys are very excited to discuss the long-awaited movie that many fans have waited nearly 20 years to see. If you're also an anime, basketball or Slam Dunk fan, let us know what you think about the movie and this special review in the comments!

We recorded this episode back in early September but unfortunately, life and work got in the way, again. We apologise for the late upload! But this remains a high profile case that will be discussed for a long, long time. Since we're all about Malaysian politics lately, think of this episode as a throwback to the verdict we were all waiting for!In this episode, we talk about the reactions that came after former Malaysian Prime Minister’s 12-year prison sentence, followed by a 10-year jail sentence for his wife. That's just after one trial, and there are four more to go in relations to the infamous couple. Let's wait and see what else will unfold next! We're also on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, so make sure you follow us on all platforms! Email us at ttwtapodcast@gmail.com.

Are this strange terms to you? Is this the first time you're hearing such lingo? If your answer is yes, you should start paying attention because you're gonna be hearing more about this in the coming months! We've talked about price hikes and expensive groceries several episodes ago, but things are getting serious again because prices of food and essentials are STILL increasing.

This year, Bank Negara Malaysia increased the overnight policy rate or OPR twice, which means you need to start paying more for your housing and personal loans. They say that this is a sign of economic growth and a way to manage inflation. In this episode, we attempt to dive deeper into this very complicated topic, but it's something we feel is important to talk about because it affects our daily lives. We hope we explained it accurately and well enough!

Have you been feeling the pitch in your daily spendings or when you eat out lately? How are you managing your monthly expenses now? Share your experiences with us!

The latest SPM results came out a few weeks ago and we celebrated with 18-year-olds around Malaysia for making it through the national exams after another year in the pandemic. But a couple of videos started going around on TikTok with students showing off straight G's in their results, which got us wondering, do SPM results still matter today?

In this episode, we talk about life after SPM, whether it matters if you're in the Science or Arts stream, and what are your options if your results weren't what you expected. We're here to share a thing or two about what we learned from sitting for important exams like this. If you have an interesting SPM story of your own, do share with us in the comments or slide into our DMs!

There have been a number of movies recently released that explores the concept of multiverse, like #DoctorStrangeMultiverseOfMadness and #EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce starring our homegrown Michelle Yeoh. In this episode, we decided to dive deeper into the multiverse or alternate dimension theories we've been exposed to so far and what we understand from them.

What would you say to your alternate self from another dimension if you were to meet him/her one day? Have you seen your doppelgänger before? Do you believe that there is only one universe? Share your thoughts with us!

Happy 2022, everybody! We decided to kick off the year with a bang by reviewing yet another highly anticipated movie. You know it... #SpiderManNoWayHome is easily the best movie of 2021 and one of the best Marvel films of all-time. Eugene is back with us in this fresh new year episode as we tried to hold back from all the fanboying and fangirling.

Disclaimer: This episode contains spoilers, so stay away if you haven't seen the movie. Where have you been?!

DaruratBanjir: This was the last thing we expected to happen after watching Spider-Man: No Way Home last weekend. Klang Valley and several states in Malaysia were hit by one of the worst floods in decades after more than 48 hours of non-stop rain. Tens of thousands of people have since lost their cars, homes, personal belongings, and some sadly lost their lives.

We were caught in Shah Alam as the flood waters were rising and we couldn't get out to any of the major highways because all roads heading home were either flooded or clogged up. We had no other choice but to camp overnight in the car with the flood surrounding us while waiting for the water to subside. Thankfully, we managed to get out after 24 hours.

Of course, what we experienced is nothing compared to those who have lost everything in the flood. But if there's one thing we learned from this incident, it's that the people only have each other to count on. Listen to our full story in this week's episode!

Two weeks ago, a video of a Form One student being beaten up by his peers circulated on social media and angered Malaysians. This incident took place in the wee hours of the morning at a boarding school in Kuala Kangsar. The 10 bullies involved have since been expelled by the school. But is this punishment enough?

Bullying cases have been going on in Malaysian schools and higher education institutions for years, some of which led to fatalities like the tragic incidents back in 2017. Why does this keep happening here? In this episode, we talk about our personal experiences with bullying, what is in the mind of these bullies, and what should the authorities do about this.

Have you ever witnessed this kind of bullying when you were in school? Do you think bullying is getting worse or has it always been this way? Tell us what you think!

Recently, we keep hearing about the prices of vegetables, Gardenia bread, and more increasing, which sounds like a never-ending battle Malaysians face as we grow older. Some reports said that this price hike is the highest in about 20 years! So why are things becoming more expensive but our salaries  remain the same?

In this episode, we find out what's causing this recent spike in vegetable prices, why you don't hear of younger generations working as farmers, and the projected8 2.8% increment in Malaysian salaries next year (sure or not?). Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The first #FiveGuys outlet in Malaysia recently opened in Genting SkyAvenue and we decided to drive up to see what the hype is all about. In this episode, we talk about our first, and possibly last experience at this particular outlet.

We don't know how it happened, but we ended up queueing 2 hours for this expensive burger joint that's not Burger & Lobster. Let's just say that we expected a lot more after all the wait, and especially, for the price!

Have you tried the burger and milkshake from Five Guys? If you have, let us know your thoughts! And if you've also tried the original Five Guys from the U.S., please let us know if it's comparable.

We know that the #SquidGame fire has probably died a little by now but the creators had just confirmed news of a second season earlier this week. So we decided to come back to dissect the latest South Korean #Netflix original series that took the world by storm in all its colourful and bloody glory.

In this episode, we break down all nine episodes and try to figure out how or why Squid Game became such a global pop culture phenomenon despite playing the survival game concept that we're all familiar with.

We are finally talking about one of our favourite topics, Japan and Korea! In this episode, we discuss when we were first aware and exposed to both countries in terms of pop culture, entertainment, food, technology and more. We also attempt to figure out how and why these two East Asian countries are so prevalent today and what makes their global position so invincible.

Last week, the government finally announced some new SOPs for those in Malaysia who are fully vaccinated. Most of these loosened restrictions only apply to states that are in Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), including the freedom to dine in at restaurants, non-contact sports and recreational activities, go for staycations within the state, and so on. Unfortunately, those of us in the Klang Valley don't fall into this category for now.

It has also been announced today that some businesses will be allowed to operate beginning 16 August in states under Phase 1, like car wash, electrical shops, hair and beauty salons, furniture shops, fashion and retail stores, etc. But again, only those who are fully vaccinated (and have surpassed the 14-day grace period) can enter with their digital certificates as proof.

With that being said, we can't help but wonder if this is happening too soon because our daily cases are still dangerously high and our healthcare system remains under tremendous pressure. In this week's episode, we weigh the pros and cons of this added "freedom" and discuss what we hope to expect in the coming months.

If you have some thoughts on our Hotcake this week, we would love to hear from you!

The Olympic fever is still high and running! This week, we’re here to discuss what’s been happening in the Olympic events, how different the Olympics look this year, the opening ceremony that we can’t stop talking about, what we love about our national athletes, and why keyboard warriors should keep their comments to themselves.

Since we recorded this episode, a number of Malaysian players have been doing very well! Our badminton men’s doubles Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik grabbed the bronze medal, beating former world champions in their first ever Olympic! (If only we all witnessed their win together at the mamak) Our badminton men’s singles player Lee Zii Jia also made it all the way to round of 16. This young man has certainly got a bright future ahead! Our national diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri is through to the finals in the 3m springboard event. We’re rooting for her today!

We also want to give honourable mentions to our amazing badminton pair Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying, women’s doubles Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean, women’s singles player Soniia Cheah, swimmers Welson Sim and Phee Jinq En, women’s diver Ng Yan Yee, track athletes Azreen Nabila Alias and Lee Hup Wei, golfer Gavin Green, the sailing team Nuraisyah Jamil, Juni Noor Jamali, Nur Syazrin Latif and Khairulnizam Afendy, female shooter Noor Suryani Taibi, and our national cyclist coming soon Azizulhasni Awang. We turned 1 year old today! We totally didn't expect that we'd come this far when we first decided to start a podcast on a whim. To our friends, family and listeners who have followed us on this little journey, we are grateful for your continuous support and we appreciate your feedback. We hope that you'll keep tuning in because we've got a lot more things to talk about in the coming episodes!

We would also love to hear from you because we don't want this to be a one-way street. We’re finally back on the mics with another guest! This week on #KetchupSessions, we caught up with our good friend, John Tan Jiun Wuu, about his decade-long journey working in the media industry, an opportunity he grabbed by chance. He tells his story about his early days running around on the field as a news cameraman, the horror stories he witnessed, and how he had to tune out his emotions to do the job. Today, he is a skilled new media professional and podcast producer who is still very passionate about the state of Malaysian media.

In this episode, we also talk about how we really feel about working from home now that we’ve been forced to work remotely for over a year. We weigh the pros and cons about this new work situation that we’re in now, and debate whether Malaysian companies can actually handle imposing remote work permanently.

We also want to hear from you, so share with us your thoughts about WFH! Do you love it? Do you hate it? Write to us and let us know.

Let's face it, gossiping is a big part of our society, whether we like to admit it or not. We love talking about other people, dissecting the lives of family members, friends, and sometimes, strangers! Most of the time, these gossip or membawang sessions start from a single piece of rumour. In this episode, we try to analyse why people love to participate in gossiping and rumours, especially when we're not the subject of it. We also talk about the 'holier than thou' mindset, keyboard warriors, being extra judgemental towards celebrities, and cyberbullying.

Are we all part of the problem? What can we do as a community to change this damaging habit? Share your thoughts with us!

Introducing our new podcast segment, Ketchup Sessions, where we invite guests on to catch up (hence the "ketchup", geddit?) and talk about various topics. This week, we have Eugene Seng as our very first guest! Eugene is a good friend and avid supporter of the podcast, so we're very excited to speak to him about his experience dabbling into different businesses throughout his career.

In this episode, we're highlighting the grit attitude, which is defined as having the passion and perseverance to achieve your goals without giving up, no matter how long it takes to get there. We sometimes wonder if millennials and Gen Z have grit because we're often seen as "snowflakes" or the "strawberry generation" by our elders. We agree and disagree at the same time, so let's talk about it!
