At Dr.B Speaks the focus is growth and development. I was once told what is the point of working at something if you aren’t improving. We will have conversations with individuals that have learned to overcome obstacles and push through adversity. Most rational people want to win, however there is so much noise in the world and we need to hear information that if applied works. At Dr.B speaks we aim to offer you practical knowledge that can grow you both personally and professionally.
I want this podcast to be about getting results. I may discuss things related to business, spirituality, success wealth etc, but ultimately I want the information to be reliable. The idea behind this episode came from a teaching by Dr. Michael Freeman the Senior Pastor of Faith City Central Church. The message he taught yesterday was essentially about trusting and obeying God. In his teaching he was discussing the importance of depending on God to provide for us as a result of our compliance to his instructions. Not everyone is a person of faith and I do intend on reaching as broad of an audience as possible with this podcast. That said, I believe unpacking this idea a bit and applying the underlying principle of following instructions is greatly beneficial. Many of us want to become established in our personal and professional lives. However, what doesn't happen is that we not applying accurate information into the various aspects of our lives. There are also in my opinion, various types of establishment. Simply put we can either rely on God to establish us, or something or someone other than him. Personally, I want to rely on a source that owns everything and has ultimate authority. None of what is on this earth belongs to any of us. We are all passing through. We won't take any of this with us after we pass away. While we are here we have a choice of following instructions from quality sources for those of you that aren't spiritual. And then getting results based on good information or vice versa, the choice is ours. For the spiritual audience, trusting and obeying God in all areas of our lives can cause us to flourish even when others flounder.
If you and I will be great we must learn how to serve. The scriptures teach us that those greatest amongst us are those that serve in the greatest capacity. Whether you believe in the scripture I refer to or you do not, service to others allows us to connect with , educate, help, and love other people. If your goal is to make a difference in the world or in the lives of other people, allowing there to be a process of refinement in your life will grow you and give you more capacity to serve. In this episode, I briefly discuss some of the ways we are refined in our professions, personally, and in life in general. Refinement is simply becoming better. If a precious metal is refined, that process allows more of the pure substance to remain, after the components that are not as pure are discarded. In order for you and I to be more effective at whatever it is that we do, we must submit to the process of refinement. This episode will have a more meaningful impact on individuals who recognize a higher power. Those of us who believe in some God that gives us the opportunity to spend time on this earth, often understand this time is to be used to serve our fellow man. I truly hope this episode enriches your life in some way, and encourages you to seek to be refined.
it’s so easy to focus on the fact that we lose and not the lesson in the loss. Nelson Mandela said “I never lose. I either win or I learn“. He goes on to say in that quote that there are so many lessons during times, when our outcomes are something other than what we expect, it is our responsibility to see these lessons. In this episode, I discuss how important it is to change our perspective when what we are trying to achieve in life, industry, or our careers doesn’t happen when we want it to happen. In my first book, I wrote a chapter in titled “faith, patience, and trust“. These are three of the things that we must lean on when we lose it’s OK to feel upset, angry and disappointment, this is our humanity. no one that attempted to achieve a career position to become a professional athlete or to start and grow a business ever did it to perfection on their very first try it was a process for them just like it will be for you. The difference is the more lessons we can extract from, the times we lose the more powerful we become
My 14-year-old son is now running track and this morning we were discussing how he had the day off because some of the other runners were complaining about soreness in their legs etc. This gave me an idea for this episode because just as a runner needs to work out Lift weights exercise, so do we. Although my son was discussing rest, you rest after you’ve worked and that’s important too (resting that is). I thought about how important it is to work on something to the point where you need rest and the only time if that’s necessary is if you’re really pushing yourself trying to be the best version of you. Some people say they’re tired, but what they really are it’s just a bit sleepy. The purpose of this episode is to help individuals, entrepreneurs. and leaders identify opportunities for growth in their personal and professional lives and then have ways to actually grow. The episode includes topics of personal integrity and self discipline, goal, setting internal reflection, and only being in competition with one’s former self, among other items. this podcast is meant for people who want to achieve things that they did not think were possible, and to have a life of fulfillment of inspiration and accomplishment. I am so happy to present episode number nine of the Dr.B Speaks podcast “Stretch”. I am not a motivational speaker, but I am THE inspirational teacher always reminding you to strive for greatness.
Most anyone that knows me or works with me will tell you that I value people. Namely because God values people, but also so much happens when we are properly connected with others That said the people that I value in my circle or that I do business with bring value as well. I therefore know that when things are getting done either in my personal life often times it is as a result of working with someone else. We have all heard “two heads are better than one”, “teamwork makes the dream work” “if you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together. So much good happens when we collaborate, and even more specifically great things can happen when we collaborate and work together to accomplish something. This podcast isn’t about discussing some mind blowing new concept, this podcast is about discovering and learning what are the things that successful people do on a daily basis that make them successful. And one of them is that they devote to collaboration.
There are 3 main takeaways that you should have from this episode one there is power in mentorship, two losing isn’t losing if you learn the lesson(s) and finally that the process of becoming more than you are now will require a different version of you. We all have experienced what we would call losses. But hidden within those difficulties, hardships, no’s, financial lack etc are the pieces of you that are required to assist you in leveling up. Success is different for everyone but many of the processes to achieve it are similar. When Mr.Miagi decided to mentor Daniel he didn’t teach him martial arts initially and he made daniel a better fighter as a result of putting him through those challenges. The question is will you allow your losses to teach you how to move to closer to your wins or not?, either way it’s up to you.

There is a significant difference between reaching a certain level of success and maintaining that level of success. Greatness does not come easily, but what’s even more difficult than achieving the greatness is maintaining it. In this episode I discuss the two main factors I believe help individuals maintain a certain level of success. I am fully aware that success looks different for different people, and maintaining success could also look different for different individuals. However, what is universal throughout this topic are the distinguishing factors between certain individuals who not only reach certain levels of achievements but maintain those levels.
I believe it was geometry when you and I were First introduced to the Concept of parallel lines. Parallel lines are two lines in the same dimension or plane that do not intersect. The idea behind the title of blurred lines is when lines are parallel they are next to one another and they are moving in the same direction. When lines are blurred you can see which direction they are pointing and you don’t know what the trajectory of the lines are. I am using lines as a symbolic representation of people in our lives. And having blurred lines with those that surround us can cause damage to our destiny. In this episode I discuss the importance of being very particular about those that influence You and I within the particular aspects of our lives that relate to our growth and development. We all must avoid the people that are the blurred lines around us and we must seek those that walk parallel with us, those individuals that encourage, strengthen, and enrich our lives.

It is my strong belief, that it is necessary to have foundational principles and values or a beliefs system that guide us in all that we do. In episode four of this podcast I discuss the magic in commitment, which is one of the core values of my life. We must learn to begin those projects, goals or dreams we want to achieve. And once we do there are courses within the universe that will support your decision. So just start. As Nike said “just do it”. I Remember my grandfather telling me a man’s word means something, he told me if you tell someone you’re going to do something do it, or tell them if you cannot, but never commit to something and then not follow through. Within this episode, Dr. B speaks on how committing to something can cause the universe to work in your favor, listen intently and allow this information to grow you, here’s to your success

As the world reels and mourns at the untimely death of the Iconic Chadwick Boseman I have found myself engrossed in learning more about his life. I have been watching interviews, reading articles, listening to digital programs learning lessons from Chad. My brother Roland Martin’s digital program Roland Martin Unfiltered held a celebration of life program today. and on his show he had a number of guests from Chadwick’s peers to form professors current students etc. and they discussed so many details about his life that speaks volumes. I learned so much and was so inspired I did this particular episode without making any notes, because there is so much to learn from someone like Chadwick Boseman. Some people desire to go through life and just be comfortable other people desire to be great. I believe the people who desire to be great will most benefit from this podcast. The Bible speaks of weakness coming from the level of service to others, not only did Chadwick Boseman serve others through his masterful art of film and acting, he served others through his knowledge of his purpose. I am absolutely thrilled to bring you this episode and I really wish I would have taken better notes as I watch these episodes in these interviews to have more details to provide for you and see that even in what I do I could be better, and that is always the goal.

Have you ever considered why you or I don’t achieve the things we desire? Have you compared yourself to someone more “successful” than yourself and it diminished your sense of self? If so, you’re not alone. One of the ways to gain a breakthrough along hour journey is through discipline, more specifically self-discipline. But before we get to discipline we must have vision. In this first episode on the series on self-discipline I unpack some of what is necessary to gain the required self-discipline to become effective in our pursuit of our dreams and goals.

In every aspect of our lives we make decisions. The outcomes, or the results we get in our personal or professional lives so often depend on the decisions we make. So what are the key elements to decisions, what are the levels of decisions, what our decisions at all. Within this podcast Dr. B speaks on practical experiences he’s had as it relates to decision making as well as empirical (research) data on the subject of decision making. Effective decision making can move us closer to the growth and development we want to achieve. Just as important, learning how to make the right decisions, and learning from the wrong decisions will also enable us to move past obstacles and advance towards the destiny we were meant to obtain.
