In the U.S, Black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. Systemic racism impacts access to quality healthcare, which puts Black women at higher risk for pregnancy complications as well as income inequality, poverty, and lack of access to quality healthcare.

Meet Dr. Joy Cooper, the CEO, and Co-Founder of Culture Care, a culturally-connected telemedicine platform designated to connect Black women with trusted Black physicians. Culture Care was created to help us navigate the complications of the healthcare system.

In this episode we talk about the resources Culture Care provides to their patients in California, how to advocate for yourself through every phase of your journey into motherhood, how genetics history plays a major role in family planning, and the resources to consider when choosing to plan for a family.

Whether if you're single, married, or considering having children in the future, this is an episode you can't miss.

Although there are still many challenges on the continent, that is not ALL there is on the vast and dynamic motherland. Tune in to listen to what it took for her to get the documentary off the ground on a shoestring budget, her experience in working in the music industry, and what she is doing to elevate young musicians.
