How appropriate this message fell on Father's Day, especially since by the time these sayings had been collected it had long been known that King Solomon's heir did not heed his father's wisdom. In light of that, this is truly fascinating!

Although there isn't any verse, talking about gluttony in this message, it is at least as uncomfortable as Chapter 25. In mere hours He will be tortured & killed. In the continued conversation in the dark with His 11 remaining Apostles, Jesus has a very intimate & insightful prayer with His Father. We can learn much if we pay careful attention. He will be glorified if we are willing to change to be more like He wants us to be.
In an intense conversation with His 11 remaining Apostles, Jesus reassures & comforts them with very real & practical information.
Facts are facts, even if they're uncomfortable. Jesus makes it clear His followers will be hated & persecuted.
Jesus continues His teachings as He moves along with His 11 disciples. He wisely pulls no punches as He implores them (& us) to do the most important thing.

As Jesus wraps up His upper room discourse, He sets clear expectations, & introduces a dynamic the disciples will understand more about, later - a subject which when mishandled will damage, divide, & confuse people many centuries later. He intends to comfort them in this moment, & it likely does. Unbeknownst to the disciples & most readers, this passage prefaces one of the most powerful & beautiful messages in all of the Gospel of John.

Sometimes life has us so distracted we don't comprehend important things until after we have royally messed up. In this part of the Gospel of John Jesus continues His teachings in a very intimate setting. Let Him pull you closer - as He did most of His Apostles this fateful night, nearly 2000 years ago.
Right after Judas leaves their very intimate moment, Jesus gives His disciples more practical wisdom. If we can all learn this "one another" teaching, our world will be better as more come to know the love of Jesus.
1 John 5:18 says the whole world is under the control of the evil one. This is because most live for the devil & not God (Jesus said only a few will enter that narrow gate...). In John 13:18-30, we catch a glimpse of what happens when a disciple chooses the wrong direction. Friends, stay close to Jesus. It's better & safer that way!
In an unexpected moment, the Creator of the universe teaches by example in our text. Similarly, Pastor Adams experiences & an unexpected thing highlighted the lesson in our text, making it more personal than he anticipated.
This is a big moment - one of only a few times this particular big thing happened & others witnessed. In this last part of John 12 there's a ton of really good & practical information. It's a long message, but chock full of good stuff!

Some of us are unaware of how we come across to others. In these very strange times, maybe we need an "unexpected message" to help us along on our spiritual journeys. Maybe it's time we let God move us so we can be greater movers for Him. This message is personal, and might be just what's needed this Christmas - for you and those around you.
Even as Paul is incarcerated for no good reason, he sets the tone and example of having a good attitude. First century readers were concerned for him, but he shows them he is making the most of his difficult circumstances, encouraging them by his remarkable example of optimism for the cause of Christ. Let his words and example encourage you, too, as you read through these inspiring inspired words. It can help you have a tenacious faith like Paul's.
As we continue our journey in the series, Paul demonstrates a remarkably good attitude, despite his extremely negative circumstances. In this part of our studies, we learn how to navigate well through life - no matter how bad it gets.

Paul has been building on this concept that Christians are not to be judgmental of nonbelievers, yet are not to behave like them. In this part he addresses how we represent Christ by our work ethic - wherever we work.
Children are not just the future. They are here now, & God has given direction to them & directions for them, now, in this vital part of these Prison Epistles. Let God's Word guide you in your homes, & consider the impact on the children - for God's sake & theirs.
In the first section (Ephesians) of Pastor Adams' series, "The Hard Time Letters," we have a 2-part thing happening. Pastor Adams addresses a very common false doctrine in modern times by letting Scripture be the guide. Brace yourself for some in-your-face reality talk we must have. Two weeks prior some CKCC members who were not in the service that week tested positive for COVID-19. For everyone's safety we decided to not have physical in-person church services for a couple weeks. We broadcasted on an FM signal to people in their vehicles in the parking lot (as we do each week), & also had people join in on the service in a Zoom meeting. This was Resurrection Sunday, 2021.
How are we supposed to act when a president or governor seems to be the polar opposite of nearly all that we believe in? Listen to God's counsel through Peter's 1st letter to Christians in the 1st century who were actually persecuted by such leaders.
