On our latest episode of Hope on the Homefront we get to chat with fellow military wife, Rachel Yorgey, an HFH volunteer, as she talks with Co-founder April Griffin about triggers. What are they? Where do they come from? How do we handle them?
As believers in Christ, the way we deal with our triggers should look radically different from those that have no hope in the Lord. That is a tall order, and one we cannot do it on our own accord. We must invite God in to reveal where we are struggling, why we are struggling and understand the refuge He is in times of stress.
We know you’ll be encouraged by this conversation about military life, our spouses, and our kids. Plus, you’ll hear some practical ways we’ve learned to respond to these triggers in Biblical way rather than just reacting to them in a way we’ll regret later.

Sometimes it's hard to know what to expect from something you've never done before. Deployment is a whole different level of unknown so it's natural to be very overwhelmed and nervous about it! Even the most seasoned military wife will tell you that each deployment is very different than the one before it! There's no one size fits all for how a deployment is going to go, but Ashlee (Director of Content for HFH) is bringing the tips and encouragement for what to expect during your first deployment.

Giving birth to a child without your military man by your side is hard. It's hard to not have their hand to hold or them there to comfort you, it's hard to imagine tackling such a big life event solo.... so what do you do when you find yourself in the position of having to do so?

For the longest time, I didn't know there was an official name for the adjustment period after my military man came home. Once I learned more about "Reintegration", so many things made more sense & I felt like I was really able to start tackling that season of our lives better.

I remember the day he first left me. I was a newly 20 year old newlywed thrown into figuring out how to be a wife… a military wife at that. Completely clueless as to what to expect when he went away for over 6 months, I recall feeling such an extreme sadness as I left for work that morning, knowing that when I got home he wouldn’t be there. If you’ve just said goodbye to your military man for the first time or are preparing for him to ship out for boot camp, I wanted to create this episode for YOU! To walk through some of what I felt when I first experienced it because I know how hard it was to not have a support system of military wives in my life who understood what I was facing and could help me process it all.

No matter what, Homefront Heroes Ministries wants YOU to know that it's okay to feel either or both!
