So often, I find myself 'following'. It might be simple curiosity. Or an insatiable desire for knowledge, perspective, truth. But I'm always following. Following teachers. Following trends and following alternatives. Following thought leaders and experts. Following my breath. Following my intuition. Following my nose. Just following along. And it's fun! It's interesting. It's motivating. It's growth-minded and it keeps me fresh. So I'm inviting you to come along. Let's see who we meet and what we learn. Let's grow and develop and stretch and radiate. Let's follow and see what happens along the way. Namaste!
Creative Flow is defined by feelings of joy, ease, and pleasure—and that infectious enthusiasm was the exact energy in my conversation with Regina Loiko.
Regina is a true multi-hyphenate: a team development coach/consultant, a children's book author, a yoga student, and a home baker who gives the British baking champions a run for their money!
During our conversation, we looked at creativity both in the rearview mirror of life's journey and in the dreamscape of tomorrow.

Sometimes you sit and talk to with someone familiar and discover them anew - only to feel that you've known them forever!
For me, this was that conversation and Michelle Falcone is that gal.
We scheduled the chat to share information about Michelle's upcoming meditation offerings at The Light. And we discovered many connections and commonalities.
Michelle is an energy worker and psychic medium. In this episode, she shares her experiences as an empath, her journey to mediumship and her signature meditation offering: Crystal Frequency Activation.
This is a timely offering as so many are feeling awakened and activated - or at least curious - about the inner energetic workings of being human.
So take a listen and join Michelle for a inspiring experiences as a part of your session in the Energy Enhancement System at The Light Wisdom and Wellness.

Perhaps you remember a time when "what's your sign?" was nothing more than a joke.
And perhaps you've explored enough to discover that knowing your sun sign, moon sign + rising sign is helpful information for navigating the complexities of life.
Or perhaps you're somewhere in between....
In any case, this conversation is likely to stretch both your mind and your heart.
For when we pull back far enough, we are able to see that we - 'humanity' - are a part of a earthly experience as well as a universal experience as well as a GALACTIC experience.
It's just an expanded view. A shift in perspective, if you will.
And my guide in this little mind-stretching, heart-opening exercise is Caitlin Pendolino.
Caitlin is a Galactic Astrologer. She reads the skies - astrology charts, actually - for alignments and relationships between us/humanity and the big picture/galaxy.
Why? Because she can provide insightful and helpful information for navigating the complexities of life. And she does!

Sometimes you meet someone and you just know in that instant: They are true blue goodness.
Christie Murdoch strikes a lot of people that way. She's an artist, a fashion designer, an entrepreneur and small business owner - and she does it all with a huge heart for community, sustainability and social responsibility.
She's a friend to many AND she practices here at Studio 108!
In this conversation, Christie shares her story and her next-step initiatives.
You'll hear a few thoughts to inspire you. And I think you'll get smart ideas of how this business owner honors her personal values within the framework of commercial success.

Microdosing is a conversation that I've been following for a few years now. And you know how I follow: with a great deal curiosity and - in this case - a healthy dose of caution.
So when my friend Nata (remember her from the She Who Rises breath work + cacao events?) said that she supports folks in microdosing experiences, I heard her and I scheduled a talk.
I asked a lot of questions and poked around for greater understanding about how she works and where she is guiding folks. I was curious.
If you're curious too, then listen in. See what you think.
Nata will lead an informative workshop on the topic of microdosing on September 22nd.
It's a virtual event - you can watch from home. And yes, it will be recorded for those who prefer the replay.

You don't get better life-talk than when you sit with Abby Dosen.
Abby is teacher, a mother, a published author and the leader of Studio 108's book club. But the beauty of our conversations is not from these roles + responsibilities....
The goodness of our conversations is a result of Abby's intentionality.
Abby lives intentionally - not perfectly but certainly intentionally. And that is makes for a rich conversation.
In this conversation, Abby shares her experiences since publishing her book: Realistic Self-Care for Moms: A Guided Journal for Taking Care of You While Taking Care Them.

I remember when Mike Boyes first came to Studio 108 to practice Kundalini Yoga....
We were in the front room. Yup! This was prior to those pilates reformers!
It was sunny hot on the windows and Mike sat to my right. His presence was confident + steady. His gaze didn't waiver.
After class, we talked about the practice. He shared that he had just finished teacher training and was looking forward to finding a studio home.
By the end of the conversation, I said what I always say: "It happens in your daily practice. I practice every day."
He looked me straight in the eyes. And then he showed. Every week.
AND he committed to his daily personal practice - every day - to this day.
And THAT is why Mike is a great teacher.
He's been teaching our Sunday morning class since 2022. He's taught at studios and schools throughout the city. And he's at Edgewater Park every Friday night for a community class.
His gong game is second to none.
You should 100% check out his offerings.
Anyway - in this conversation, we just chat it all up!

Welp, it's been 7+ months of John Bowden + Foundation Training at Studio 108. And I've gotta say: We are seeing RESULTS!
I sat with John to hash over the why's and how's and what's and where's.

When it comes to health + nutrition, one of the most informed people I know is Studio 108's very own Leah Rachelle.
Leah teaches fitness, yoga + pilates reformer. She is a clinical counselor and a functional medicine health coach. She has studied herbalism + grows herbs locally at Oxbow Orchard.
And while Leah is quick to point out that she doesn't know everything, she does have a lot to teach me. And in today's conversation, I snagged some new vocabulary and a few solutions for enhanced well being.
And, I learned about the new elixirs that she has out on the shelves: Leah's Radiant Root Elixir is an OXYMEL. (First new vocabulary word!)
And the herbs Leah added to this powerful tonic offer a plethora of health benefits. (More new vocabulary words!!)

At Studio 108, we appreciate the multidimensional aspects of the human. Which is just a fancy way of saying: We're all about body, mind and soul as a connected holistic experience.
Today Kaley Tocco and I sit to chat about that mind-body-soul connection and how Thai Massage, Reiki and Access Bars are utilized to support folks in healing and growing and learning and being.
If you practice yoga with us, you might know Kaley from her yin class on Monday night. It's a studio fave. She also teaches slow burn yoga, warm gentle yoga + restorative yoga.
But beyond that, Kaley is also a very powerful energy healer with a gift for moving energy through the human form. She explains how she creates space, restores connection and opens up flow.
You'll probably feel better just listening to her but I highly recommend booking an appointment!

In my neighborhood, the seasonal shift into spring means mulch around the trees and hanging baskets by the front door.
But at Oxbow Orchard, there's a whole lotta farm to get organized. So our local urban farmers Beth Lomske and Kyla Werlin are very busy birthing baby sheep, nurturing seedlings - both vegetable and flower - planning community events and preparing the marketing for a summer of fresh, local fares.
And I don't know that I can adequately explain how incredible it feels to stand at Oxbow Orchard with the sheep and turkeys and tomatoes and basil and honey and just the nicest people when I'm but a short mile from the industrialism and commercialism that defines the neighborhoods in which I live and work. But I'm chatting with Beth today to create a picture and to tell a story so that you'll be inspired to drive from your neighborhood to their farm paradise and check it out for yourself.
So please take a listen and then make a point of coming down to the farm this summer. Procrastinate no longer. It's an incredible feeling. I think you'll leave feeling really good.

The Light Wisdom and Wellness in Brecksville OH is home to a state-of-the-art Energy Enhancement System.
Our 24 unit system maintains a bio photonic and scalar wave (Tesla energy) field. This high frequency environment prompts the body to detoxify and provides a full body cellular charge.
Resting comfortably in a chair, you will experience deep relaxation (aka down regulation of the nervous system). It's in this state of relaxation that the body engages in its natural healing processes.
We are built to heal - the EESystem creates + maintains the most optimal + the most powerful environment in which that can happen.
Not many have heard of this technology - or they have heard of it being used in small bite ways such as red light face masks or scalar infused water. But at The Light, there are many who have tried the EESystem and have experienced inspiring and hopeful results.
After witnessing these results over the last year and a half, Dolores Alquist and I are thrilled to develop partnerships and creative innovative ways for folks to benefit from the EESystem.
Today we sat down to share some of our stories along with some updates. And I think you'll hear it from us quite clearly: We want to help the world heal - and that means you!

You might chuckle when you here the Studio 108 Book Club mantra: "Just come: You don't have read the book!"
But once you sit in circle with Book Club leader and published author Abby Dosen, you'll feel the welcoming and caring presence of a good friend. And you'll be glad you came!
Abby Dosen has practiced at the studio for a couple of years now. Like many, she appreciates the personal time on her mat to support her in being her best self as she and her husband raise their three little girls. She appreciates how challenging it to care for oneself while caring for a family....how easy it is to put off self-care....
So, after intentional thought, practice and research, Abby decided to create what she needed and share it with the world. Her book "Self-Care for Moms: A Guided Journal" will be on the shelves in March 2025. (That's not too far away!)

Most women will admit that despite riding the waves of their hormones on a monthly, or even a daily basis, they know little about the health of their endocrine system.
Yes! Your hormones are produced + regulated by your endocrine system.
Since - as women - our hormone health is cyclical across a month and across my lifetime, few women claim mastery. We remain humble and, sometimes confused, students.
In this chat, Leah shares an overview of the topics she is planning on covering in her upcoming Health Coaching Group on Women's Hormone Health.
Of course, she sprinkles in some tips + ideas. But I think most helpful is the opportunity to hear Leah's perspective on working with our lifestyle, diet + care for optimal health + well-being. I think you'll feel safe + supported in this conversation.

But it's also real + raw as we talk about Tom's background and life story. He generously shares his experiences and his thoughts. And, yeah, he generously shares a ton of information about the power + the necessity of healthy breathing.

Are you ready to expand and evolve your understanding of yoga?
The field of yoga therapy offers a researched-based lens of how the practices of yoga can support one in finding health and wellbeing in all aspect of the human experience.
It's an exciting time for this conversation and Studio 108 is pleased and proud to have one of its own staff-family members offering yoga therapy services to the community.
Corey Woodrum is a master level yoga teacher having completed his 500 level certification through Yoga 108: School of Yoga in 2021. And he has now completed his 800 hour program certification in yoga therapy from Kripalu Institute.

I was just introduced to someone who delights me!
So of course, I want YOU to meet her too!
My friend introduced me to Nata. (Her cousin. My friend.) She said, "I'm always so happy to be around my cousin. She's coming in town over the holiday and you should talk to her."
I talked to her I found that to be true: I was so happy to be around her!!
Nata is a mother and a healer. She's shaman-like! She utilizes breath work, movement, meditation, plant medicine, channeling, song and more to create transformative and awakening experiences for people.
She brought a heart of passion and love to our conversation today. And I got the sense that she lives from that place: authentic and loving. It's her vibe.
She'll be at Studio 108 on November 29th from 6-8:30 for She Who Rises: Awakening the Divine Feminine.
Take a listen - check out her profiles + offerings. And join us if you'd like!
I promise that you'll feel so happy to be around her.

I'm going to be honest. I went into this one blind. And I've gotta say: Worth it!
Here's how it went: Someone I trust recommended that I talk to their friend about something called Foundation Training. I did a quick Google and noted two things: 1) Created by a chiropractor and 2) Reparative in nature.
That's all it took. I called John Bowden + set up an Intro to Foundation Training Workshop at the studio. And then I asked him to sit for a chat.
So as you listen, keep in mind that I'm sincerely curious and sincerely delighted in what John is sharing with me. And I think you will be too!
After the conversation, John lead me through a few poses and it tracks. Foundation Training is an impactful practice for strengthening + aligning the physical form.
I'll be at the workshop on Saturday, November 16th.
Hope you will be too!

For many kids, summer time means hopping on their bike and heading out into the neighborhood. If they are lucky, it's a family activity along the towpath or through the parks.
But for kids with disabilities, riding a bike is a difficult and can create a barrier to connections with both family and peers.
Rob Fellinger has a soft spot for kids and for bikes and for families. So it's no surprise that he starts his summer by offering a program to teach kids with differences how to ride a bike - and access their local trails - with their friends and family.
Rob and his coordinating partner Deena Barrett have run the Cleveland iCAN BIKE program since 2012. Together they contract with the parent program iCAN SHINE to bring adaptive bikes and skilled mechanics to Cleveland. They organize community resources and raise funds to provide some 40 kids with an opportunity to learn to ride a bike.

Exactly what are the little brown bottles on the shelf? Are they safe? How do I take them?
Leah's all about the tinctures but, to be honest, I was a little apprehensive. Then my acupuncture practitioner recommended a tincture, showed me how to take it, suggested that I trust myself to try when I was ready - and I loved it!
I loved the subtle + helpful results I got from the potent little squirt of liquid. (For me, that means less muscular tension in my neck and jaw.)
In this conversation, Leah demystifies the whole topic of tinctures. She talks about how they are made, how they are taken, and why you might try them.
Take a listen for answers to those questions that are floating through your head. And trust yourself: You'll try them when you're ready.

Jog into Spring puts a big smile on my face every year!
Great people. Great cause. Great event!
And after 22 years, you might call Jog into Spring a legacy of love.
Beyond the support given to growing number of Independence High School seniors as they take the first steps towards their future, Jog into Spring is a legacy of the love that one physical education teacher offered her students, her daughters and her community.
Breanna Roche sits with me today to tell the story of her mother and her family's non-profit organization that has organized this event - rain or shine - and mostly rain - for the past many years.
It's just local goodness!
So I hope you listen and I hope you sign up to run!

Sometime you just have a moment when it all comes together. And Leah Cordy had such a moment.
It was a messy time in her life. So when she looked around and felt the pieces of her future fall into place, she took notice. And she acted.
You're going to want to hear all about how she responded to a need in her community + took action steps to create a nonprofit social enterprise.
Hope's landing creates candles +personal care products. All products are handmade by local survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence who have graduated from a local safe house, shelter, or other recovery program.

One of the groovy new offerings that hit the studio with the new year is our Monday Night Body Strong Group Fitness Sess with Ciera Koons.
You won't find this offering anywhere else because it's signature Ciera - and we're super duper proud of both Ciera + the class format.
Sure, strength has been a buzzword in the fitness conversation for a while. Perhaps you remember Leah + I sitting for a podcast a while ago about muscle. And Ciera's take on strength punches a power that you won't find elsewhere.
She's not going to distract you with loud music + over-the-top challenges. She's more interested in building strength from proper form + steady-paced progress. She will keep her COACH EYES on you!
But nevermind what I say, take a listen to what Ciera has to say for herself and about herself. She's got something STRONG to offer YOU.
You can find Ciera at @coachciera

Every once in a while I run into Matthew DeRubertis.
It’s not very often but when I do, a standard greeting always turns into an interesting + compelling +heartwarming conversation.
So I just had to invite him for a podcast conversation.
Matthew is a solopreneur. He is a musician and an Ayurvedic chef and coach. He has created a coffee alternative beverage called Delion which he sells online and at festivals and studios around the country.
Some would tag his lifestyle as 'nomadic' but one might as appropriately described him as 'spontaneous' and 'responsive' and 'growth-minded'.
I'd love for you to hear him. So take a listen.
He will be in Northeast Ohio November and December 2023.

The brilliant Anne Ondrey is back for another interesting conversation. This on helping the bendy yogi. AKA hyper mobility.
I found our conversation interesting not just because I learned so much about the topic - which I certainly did.
But because, despite my own hyper mobility, I realized that my understanding of the topic was in fact terribly LIMITED! Mind-blown!
The research and expanded thoughts Anne presents on this topic are critical to the longevity and safety of our yoga students. We all need to hear this.
And for your reference, I'll share Anne's credentials: MSW, E-RYT, YACEP, C-IAYT, FST Level 3, NKT Level 1, Usui and Karuna Reiki Master, Yoga TuneUp® Certified Instructor.

I've been around long enough to have experienced - or at least to have heard of - a plethora of energy work/healing modalities.
But when Kaley Tocco told me that she was an Access Bars Practitioner, I was puzzled +speechless. I had never heard of that practice. And something about her description was intriguing.
I knew two things: I wanted to experience a session. And I wanted to share what I experienced with YOU.
Kaley and I did just that: My session was fascinating. And in this conversation, we unpack THE EVERYTHING about Access Bars.
Kaley describes the Access Bars process, the history, the potential results and the mantra: I live life with ease, joy + grace.
And if Access Bars is something YOU would like to experience, check out Kaley's page on the Studio 108 website. www.studio108.com/energy-work-healing-sessions-with-kaley
If you know, you know: Corey Woodrum is a delight + an inspiration.
It's always a pleasure to talk to him and this conversation is extra special because we are hashing over one of my most favorite topics: Being a Yoga Teacher.
Corey is a yoga teacher at Falls Yoga + Barre in Cuyahoga Falls. He is my partner in offering a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Studio 108. This is our second year working together in this capacity but the first that the program is truly a collaborative between the two studios. Pretty exciting!
In this episode, Corey + I share our thoughts on yoga teacher training and how the practices of yoga have shaped us.
Accountability. Service. Community.
There is so much to gain from a yoga teacher training experience.
In the end, we do hope that you'll join us.
The program begins September 6th and details are on the website.

One of the main reason I follow so many conversations + thought streams is that I like to learn.
I appreciate a fresh perspective + current information.
So when Leah started talking about leptin + my mind was stuck on lectins {not the same!!}, I put up the stop sign + turned on the mic!
In this conversation, Leah talks about the importance of circadian rhythm on health + well-being. She shares information about the role hormones + neurotransmitters play in our eating patterns. And among them all, leptin is a key player. She tells us why.
I learned a lot and I think you will too.
Take a listen. Learn a little.

When it comes to yoga in Independence/Brecksville, Kim Scott Sowinski has inspired + taught many.
She is proof that you don't need a yoga studio to share the benefits of movement, to share positivity with others or to make a difference in the community. Kim has the best local nooks and crannies for offering folks nature inspired yoga classes and outdoor activities. From the Civic Center to the Metroparks, Kim delivers.
When Kim does comes in to the studio - Studio 108 - I am delighted. Her smile is like sunshine. Her heart is a warm welcome. Her attitude cheers me. And this time, she brought the most beautiful flowers. (Thanks, friend!)

After hearing Leah Rachelle say, "Muscle is medicine, Mom!" so, so many times, I had to admit: My definition + understanding of muscle is outdated.
And I do prefer to be trendy. Or, at least on-the-ball!
So, in an effort to get current, I sat with Leah Rachelle for an explanation of muscle.
Leah answers these big questions:
Why is muscle so important to our overall health?
How does the aging process impact our muscle mass?
What times of exercises target muscles?
Why is protein so important for muscle health?

For some yoga teachers, the greatest reward is seeing your students apply and share what they've learned on their own - at home, at their desk, with their families, in their daily lives.
It's a great feeling for yoga teachers who truly want to empower and support people in caring for themselves both in the studio and in the world.
My friend + teacher Alison Pignolet is that kind of teacher.
Alison is a master teacher + teacher trainer of The Roll Method™. Plus she is a very bright light of love + acceptance. Truly.
In this conversation, Alison + I talk about The Roll Method™.
Alison describes how using The Roll Method™ balls allows one to release patterns of stress + tension in the muscles and plastic tissues.
It's myofascial release. It's massage. It's meditation.
And we are certain that, after her offerings, you will be practicing what she teaches at home, at your desk, with your families and more and more!

I speak confidently when I say: Purandev Kaur is a uniquely graceful and lovely person.
Although we had known each other for many years, she stepped into my life as my own personal Kundalini Yoga teacher in 2019. Her guidance shifted the trajectory of my life.
We don't speak often but I follow her story. And since those days, I've noticed that Purandev herself has experienced significant evolution and expansion.
In addition to her work as an art therapist, author, spiritual channel + reiki master, Purandev has become a Sophia Code facilitator. Always a powerful and intuitive channel of Divine messages, she now supports people in establishing and developing personal relationships with the Ascended Masters.
Take a listen as Purandev talks about her journey and the requirements of living through our current climate of change.
And stay through the end as she channels a beautiful message for humanity from the loving Green Tara.

Rob showed up early for our 7am meeting.
I was on time - not early. If you know me, you know.
But Rob has that positive vibe going on that puts a smile on your face and makes the early morning feel like high noon.
And when he told me about the I CAN BIKE program, I was a great big, from-the-tips-of-my-toes YES!!

It's about bikes.
It's providing a life-skill to folks with unique abilities + challenges.
It's right here in our community of Independence.
AND it's a summer camp!
Come on!! I signed up to volunteer immediately.
And after you listen to this, you might decide to volunteer or donate too.

It's both uplifting + grounding. It's the strength + the softness. Some call it the 'high octave'.
It's available in many forms but today we are talking about femininity.
And I'm sitting with Kaley Tocco.
I invited Kaley because this is how she is: both uplifting + grounding, both strong + soft. She has arrived at a point in her life that one might call 'high octave'. And when you're with her, you feel it.
Kaley is a yoga teacher, a reiki master, a sound healer and a feminine empowerment guide. She has lived experiences in this lifetime - and most likely in past lifetimes - that have well prepared her for these tasks.
Her passion is supporting women in embodying and empowering their femininity through events + retreats, reiki session + yoga classes. Her story is inspiring. And her offerings are joyful + impactful.
In addition to her yoga classes, Kaley is a leader of the donation-based Full Moon Circles this summer at Studio 108.
She has a Sacral Stimulation Retreat (her signature offering) coming up in August so please follow her @enchanted_ethers

In this earthly life, your breath is the first thing you catch + the last thing you release. And in between those two points, very few of us give breathing much thought.
One person who does spend a good deal of time thinking about breathing + experiencing different aspect of breath, is Angelene Parker.
Angelene is a yoga teacher + breathwork coach. She has studied both traditional yogic pranayama practices + contemporary practices - more commonly called Breathwork.
Angelene + I get along famously for our old school hippie clothes + our love of gemstones. But today we are letting you listen in as we talk about breathing practices that have helped us feel better + live better.

I think most of us are fascinated by auras.
Are they real? What do they mean? What color is mine?
We want to understand the mystery + magic behind them so that we can have a glimpse into the mystery +. magic behind ourselves.
Well, Valerie Troiano and I had a chat about auras recently that I thought was vlog/podcast worthy.
So here ya go!
Valerie holds a vast amount of knowledge + wisdom around Human Design. Her readings are a deep dive into the soul of the human experience. Through Human Design, she shares insights that supports one in living from true alignment and with clear purpose.

One of the my most delightful + cherished experiences is meeting someone new and, over time, discovering the thoughts + insights + purposes + stories that they are living.
And that's been the case with JJ DiGeronimo.
JJ came to practice yoga. It was nice to meet her, of course.
But then, over time, we've chatted + collaborated. I scoped out her website + read her book. I listened to her stories + felt her heart as she talks about her work.
It's been delightful. And I wanted to share that with you all.
JJ's book is called "Seeking: 54 Key Findings to Raise Your Energy, Sidestep Your Self-Doubts, and Align with your Life's Work".

All in the name of learning + healing + expanding. But not alway comfortable. At one point in our conversation, Lisa + I liken it to crossing a river.

PLUS she lays out some prompts for each of the astrological rising signs. So check your natal chart for your RISING and be ready to get personal with this transit.
So powerful! So very powerful!!

Ahhhh!! It's one word that can make anyone tremble with fear 😱 SATURN!!!
Add the retrograde and we know that it's a serious RUMBLE!
That's why I sat down with Lisa Turner, Studio 108's favorite astrologer, for a chat on all things Saturn.
You'll want to grab your natal chart {or Google yourself one with whole house placements} because Lisa walks us through each house for an investigation: Where will this Saturn retrograde be working for you? What themes will be triggered? How can we hold steady as the ground shakes?
Any Saturn transit is serious, often requiring focus and hard work. But, remember, through the Saturn work, we gain the confidence to step forward into better habits + opportunities + relationships + projects.
So journey on, my friends! And thanks for Following!

Christie Murdock presents as beauty, generosity + grace.
In yoga class, we tease that she is a Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of Prosperity who embodies all things beautiful and offers abundance in all its forms. And if you've ever walked into her shop, Banyan Tree, you'll see that there is truth to that reference.
Banyan Tree is a casual-chic women's boutique with a global flair. It's hip and cool, for sure. Just like Christie herself.
But what is more interesting - and explored in this conversation - are the values and life lessons contained in its history. The story behind the store, if you will.
Take a listen as Christie + I chat about life and business and life and life.
Visit Banyan Tree in Tremont and Crocker Park.

I love chatting with my friend + colleague, Emi Coffman.
She's interesting. Her perspective is unusual. She brings forward fresh ideas. And I am happy for you to hear her.
Emi + I talked about her upbringing in Japan and her recent trip back home. But even more intriguing, Emi shared her tuning forks along with some information about sound frequency and the flow of life force as it relates to the human body.
There's so much more to know but here are a few thoughts from Emi on the secrets of sound.
You can find Emi on social media as Emi Sato-Coffman and @yogamamaemi. She teaches at Release Yoga in Green OH.
To be honest, I had never met Alex Handloff before.
But he came highly recommended by Leah Rachelle. And when it comes to interesting people, I figured I could trust her.
And yeah. It turned out alright!
Alex is a super interesting person. He's easy to talk to and even sprinkled a little humor into the conversation.
And that is notable because the topic of conversation is Environmental Responsibility. It's a serious, even sober, topic that is becoming more and more urgent.
Alex grew up in Colorado. He holds a Masters Degree in environmental sustainability and management. He is currently an anchor/producer at One Planet Media. He is a geologist and a nature lover. He has worked as an adventure tour guide for French speakers. And he moved to Cleveland just a few months ago where Leah met him at the climbing gym.
See what I mean? He's an interesting guy.
And this is an interesting conversation that offers some interesting perspectives and ideas for taking small steps towards a big goal.
Take a listen.
And feel free to drop a question or idea below because I think I'll be talking to Alex again.
Please. Subscribe. Like. Share. Comment. It helps!
Sanjiv Lal is a managing partner in a healthcare investment company. He, with his wife, own Falls Yoga + Barre in Cuyahoga Falls. He is also an Indian-American man raised in Parma OH with the practices of yoga richly embedded in his life.
Now, it would be a stretch to call Sanjiv Lal a friend. I mean, we don't really know each other that well.
We've never had lunch or exchanged birthday cards. I can actually only count about eight conversations with him over the past six years.
But each and every time I've interacted with Sanjiv, I've felt at ease. I've smiled. He is welcoming and happy. One would not walk past him - folks WANT to talk to Sanjiv.
So when a mutual friend told me that Sanjiv had experienced the practices of yoga since childhood, I greedily asked for his contact information.
And today, I'm sharing the chat we had with the hope that I run into Sanjiv again soon.
Interesting, inspiring, delightful. Take a listen.
Feeling a little fired up? Got a warrior attitude going on?
Well, it makes good sense.
That's how it feels when we've got a new moon in the Aries sky and she's conjunct Chiron!
I wanted to learn more about it all so I sat for a chat with Lisa Turner, Astrologer + Yoga Teacher.
Lisa makes it all relatable and relevant.
She's got the down-to-earth on the heavens.
And I'm confident that our conversation will provide you with insight + inspiration.
New Moon Blessings!!

I've come to expect both credibility + compassion from my teacher + friend Jennifer Lansdale.
Jenn is a yoga therapist (C-IAYT) with fifteen years experience. She holds a Masters Degree in Aromatherapy Research and is a clinical aromatherapist. She previously owned and operated Awaken Yoga in Mentor, OH and now creates aromatherapy products and services as Heaven + Earth Aromatherapy.
There is no doubt that Jenn is intelligent. But when you are with her, it's her care + concern that you most notice. I was thrilled to have this time with her.
Jenn talks about what aromatherapy is all about - debunking myths and sharing information. Knowing that the consumer has many easily available products at rock-bottom prices, she provides guidance and advice for what may or may not support health + well-being. And she shares the benefits and integrity of her own products.
There are so few people who understand aromatherapy at this level. You'll want to hear what Jenn has to say.
PS We do curse but just once.

Watching the news, listening to the gossip, scrolling through social media. These habitual daily activities might lead one to believe that there is nothing but bad out there in the world.
And yes. There is plenty bad.
But meeting new people and growing community at the new Studio 108 location in Independence, Ohio has revealed to me so many lovely people and uplifting experiences.
So much good is available out there!
And at the top of that list is Dolores Alquist.
Dolores is a financial advisor and an energy healer. She is a mom and gramma. She is a neighbor and a client at the studio. She is a yogi and a channel for messages of hope and peace.
And chatting with Dolores reminds me that in between and all around the bad stuff is a growing movement. A wave of positive energy. An increasing number of people and experiences that are creating a better world.
Take a listen. This one will lighten + brighten your day.

Most of us know the highs and lows of our blood sugar levels. We feel it in the body and in the mood.
We know that bouncing blood sugar is definitely not an experience of "best self".
But how to balance?
I wanted to know myself, so I sat for a chat with Leah Rachelle.
Leah is smart + creative on these things. She is a social worker, personal trainer, functional medicine health coach and, most importantly, a student of her own body + experience.
She has a ton to share on the topic of blood sugar balancing including the WHYs and HOWs.
We could have talked a lot longer but I know you'll snag some good info, be inspired to tap into your own experience and find some great ideas to put into practice.
Oh! And here's the recipe for Leah's Magic Mocktail:
8 oz sparkling water
1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
Several lemon/lime wedges
A sprig of mint or rosemary {one or the other}
Stir or shake + ENJOY!

Yeah, the time will come.
The time will come for each of when we look in the mirror and notice that the time has come. We don't look as we've looked before. And likely we don't feel the same either.
I'm blessed to share that time - ant that noticing - with the fabulous Michelle Toth.
Michelle is Founder + CEO of Brilliant Muse. She is an Ayurveda Consultant. She is certified as a meditation teacher through the Chopra Center. She is super snazzy and, if you're practicing with us at Studio 108, you'll see her in any number of classes. She shows up. And that's why I was so happy to sit with her for this conversation.
Michelle + I chat about strategies for living with grace + grit as we age.
We hope you enjoy. But we also hope that you share your thoughts and ideas in the comments. Tell us what you notice and how you live this time.

Richard Gartner is one of my favorite teachers.
He offers creative and inspiring perspectives on...well, just about everything!
So I was happier than happy when we had a chance, on a snowy day, to sit together and talk.
In this conversation, Richard takes us on a deep dive into his 2020-2021 experience of losing and reclaiming his attention span. You'll love the personal stories.
Plus you'll gain a few tips for working more effectively with your own attention span and your home yoga practice.
You can find Richard at www.frameworksyoga.com
He's teaching a 200 hour yoga teacher training at Schoolhouse Yoga in Pittsburgh. And he's offering 300 level trainings in Bel Air, Maryland + Beaver, PA.

Perhaps you've come to appreciate the same.
After all, it's difficult to feel good in anyway when your sleep has been interrupted or inadequate.
In this conversation, Leah talks about the science behind that experience. And she has some simple but helpful tips for improving your sleep potential.
Give it a listen + let us know what you think.
We hope to see you all bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning!

I'm all a-buzz about this Human Design thing.
Have you heard of it?
It's an interesting, complex + multidimensional system of understanding our own personal way of functioning as a human. It's a way of awareness: awareness of how our energy flows, how our strengths + weaknesses function, how we interact with ourselves, others and the world and how we create + express ourselves as individuals.
Sorta ;-)
Like I said, it's interesting, complex + multidimensional.
{Aren't we all, though?}
I sat with Lia Moore, Human Design coach and Kundalini Yoga teachers, to get a definition.
Lia is knowledgable + passionate about HD. She explains through examples and insights. She even unpacks a few of my own tendencies + ways from an HD perspective.
And she reminds me: it's all an experiment!
This one packs a big punch. Take a listen.

Living an active lifestyle in a flexible body type, I've had my share of misalignments, injuries + pains. And after experiencing so many different kinds of care - including a variety of styles of chiropractic care - I found a team of care providers that respected, understood + treated my physical injury as a part of my whole body. PLUS, they sent me back out into my athletic lifestyle with a treatment plan that addressed the vulnerability.
I'm not trying to sell you anything at all. That's not the point.
The point is this: I appreciate an intelligent conversation and a creative approach to addressing problems - and to living life. And when I met Dr. Leo Kormanik + Dr. Matt Pisanelli , THAT is the experience I had.
And I wanted to share that with you. So we sat for chat.

I had the pleasure of sitting with friend + colleague, Pamela Price. We hadn't seen each other in such a long time - wow, it felt good to reconnect! I think you'll feel that.
In addition, I'm hoping you feel the curiosity and compassion with which we both work with our lifestyle choices - including our commitment to exploring alcohol-free living. We have both been in the ups and downs of grey-area drinking. We have both weathered the inner storms of what alcohol has meant in our lives. And we both continue to learn from our practice of living clean and clear of alcoholic substances.
It's our choice. We are not pushing it on anyone. But if you take a listen + it inspires you to be curious and compassionate about your relationship with alcohol, Pamela would be happy to support you in doing so. Feel free to reach out.

Christine is a friend + colleague. She is a yogi + a healer. She is a powerful channel of light + love - but not the trite kind of light + love {insert emojis here}. But the real life, times-are-tough, what's-going-on kind of light + love.

Whether you live in Independence or simply come into the City to practice at the studio, my guess is that you are like me: a little unaware of what goes on behind the scenes. And in the current climate, it's easy to assume the worst.
But today I had the privilege and pleasure to sit with two of the City of Independence's newest faces. Jessica Hyser + Ryan Wancata work in the Department of Economic Development + Sustainability. And they are taking on some big initiatives to support businesses + update the City's ecology practices.

Namaste!
Well, this one took some courage.
But it's an important conversation for all of us to sit with - share in - be open to.
I sat with my friend Meg Davis for a heart-wide-open conversation about the current climate around racial inequality + cultural awareness. Meg has a unique capacity for holding space in sticky moments + I was so grateful for the opportunity - I hope that there is some insight within it all for us.

The books Meg mentioned are 'My Grandmother's Hands' by Resmaa Menaken and "How to be AntiRacist" by Ibram X Kendi
