Some believe the grass is greener on the other side.. in reality, as it’s explained by the Psalmist Asaph, the more we’re looking over the fence, the more slippery our footing gets.
This Sunday wraps up the study of 1 Peter as we look at the final portion of chapter 5. The call is both sobering and joyful, Be alert and Be ASSURED
This week Pastor Matt dives into 1 Peter 5:5-7 and unpacks humility as applied to our lives. The call is to Humble yourself under the hand of God. Humble yourself by casting your cares upon God…. All your anxieties! All the time, All upon HIM.
This Father’s day, Pastor Matt calls fathers to action, encouraging them right where they are! The work is hard, worth it and above all, God’s grace is refreshing.
Peter has spoken about work and family responsibilities .. now he focuses in on church leaders and a right response of the members.
Peter was very clear - the Christian life is not always an easy walk down a primrose pathway. But we do have a gracious God who walks with us. We’ll learn more about what it means to walk faithfully with our God despite trials that come our way.

Paul is finishing up his time in Asia Minor and is planning to head back to Jerusalem. Join us as we look at some of the final interactions he has with those he has ministered to over several years ... even those who have trouble staying awake to hear him!
While Paul is in Ephesus a riot breaks out in defense of a local pagan god. Listen as Matt unpacks how God disturbs Idols both then and now.

Paul moved on from Corinth and traveled around to churches he had previous visited. At the same time, Apollos went to Ephesus and made his mark there.
We continue to look at the ministry of Paul and his companions as they travel down the Grecian peninsula to the major trade crossroads city of Corinth.
This week we take a pause from Acts and take a look at one of the seven churches of Asia Minor:
The Church at Ephesus.
Athens ... the center for Greek philosophy for centuries before Christ. We'll look at another "philosopher" who comes on the scene with a message for the ages: God is not unknown ... we know him and his name is Jesus.
Paul and company are traveling down the Aegean Peninsula, with the next stop in Thessalonica and Berea. The reception they got in each location was unique - some positive things, some quite negative. We'll continue looking at what they did and what God did through them.
Paul and Silas had an agenda of where they were going. God had other plans and was at work in the lives of those Paul & Silas met. We can learn from His leading as we look further into the book of Acts.
Acts 15:36-16:5 Paul vs. Barnabas. Gentiles vs. Jews. God still works in the midst of interpersonal and intercultural conflict.
Paul and Barnabas confront other Jewish believers who insist the Gentiles become like the Jews to be part of the church. They travel to Jerusalem and meet with the leaders there to deal with how best to incorporate Gentiles into the faith. The "Jerusalem Council", as it became known, was a landmark in the history of the Church.
Paul and Barnabas continue their travels .. considered the first of Paul's missionary journeys. They head into what is now central Turkey and meet opposition and some confusion. So what else is new?! Well, we'll take a look!
Paul and Barnabas travel to Pisidian Antioch, where they go to the Synagogue. The Jewish leaders invite Paul to speak a "word of exhortation." And speak he did! This Sunday we'll look at Paul's lengthy historical reply to the synagogue leaders.
The church in Antioch became a sending church ... picking those to send out was directed by the Holy Spirit. We'll look at this more in detail this week.

The account of Peter's ministry continues as we see him in action in a most unusual place: the home of a centurion: a Gentile and part of the Roman occupying forces no less. God shows Peter that his vision of God's Kingdom is way too small!
While Saul was starting out his ministry, Peter was continuing to fulfill his calling ... and God was working great miracles through him.
Saul had a miraculous conversion… now, instead of imprisoning those who believe in Christ, he’s on a mission bring people TO Christ.
God had more things planned for Philip - an ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances. He had a chariot ride that took a man from one earthly kingdom into a heavenly one.
When persecution hit the church, the people fled Jerusalem to various locations ... even Samaria, the area where the Jews despised the inhabitants.
Saul has just witnessed and approved the stoning of Stephen… could Jesus change such a man?
Stephen was chosen to help minister to the Greek Widows ... but God had greater plans to use him.
In any church needs will arise. This was especially true of the burgeoning church in Jerusalem. One of the men picked to head up a new task force was definitely up for the challenge ... and more.
The religious authorities at the time tried to stifle the young church ... but their actions did anything but! There is much we can learn from this today!
Peter and John were released from custody, and threatened about continuing to proclaim Jesus.
God had other plans than what the authorities hoped for.
All those who witnessed the Spirit's moving at Pentecost were astonished.
Then Peter preached and the results were amazing!
The disciples have spent a great time in prayer and fellowship. But does the Lord want more from them? This week, we will take a look at how their prayer and preparation exploded into action through promised power.
