अंग्रेजी शासनकाल के दौरान 1924 में महाराष्ट्र के समाज सुधारक श्री एस. के. बोले ने बम्बई विधानमंडल में एक विधेयक पारित करवाया जिसमें सरकार द्वारा संचाित संस्थाएं-अदालत, विद्यालय, चिकित्सालय, पनघट, तालाब आदि सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर अछूतों को प्रवेश व उनका उपयोग करने का आदेश दिया गया। कोलाबा जिले के महाड में स्थित चवदार तालाब में ईसाई, मुसलमान, पारसी, पशु, कूते सभी तालाब के पानी का उपयोग करते थे लेकिन अछूतो को यहाँ पानी छूने की भी इजाजत नहीं थी।सवर्ण हिन्दुओं ने नगरपालिका के आदेश भी मानने से इनकार कर दिया। अछूतों के अधिकारों को छीन लेने का समय अब आ गया है, ये सोचकर डाँ अम्बेडकर ने अपने सहयोगियों के साथ दिनांक 19 तथा 20 मार्च 1927 को महाड के चवदार तालाब को मुक्त कराने हेतु सत्याग्रह करने का निश्चय किया। लगभग पांच हजार महिला पुरूष इस सत्याग्रह में शामिल हुए। 20 मार्च की सुबह डाँ साहब के नेतृत्व में लगभग पांच हजार लोग शान्तिपूर्ण तरिके से तालाब पर पहुँचे। सर्वप्रथम डाँ अम्बेडकर तालाब की सीढ़ियों पर उतरे पहले बाबा साहब ने पानी हाथ में लिया फिर सभी लोगों ने पानी पिया। ये अस्पृश्य समाज के लिए ऐतिहासिक क्षण था। बाबा साहब ने पहली बार इतनी बड़ी संख्या में लोगों का नेतृत्व करते हुए अपने अधिकारों की मांग की थी। ये एक प्रकार से सवर्णो के खिलाफ विद्रोह था। उस समय अछूतपन के श्राप से पीड़ित समाज को अपनी बदहाली से उबारने के लिए बाबा साहेब ने इस पानी को छूकर दलितों को पानी का पीने का अधिकार दिलाया। उन्होंने जो तीन सूत्र दिए थे वे उल्लेखनीय हैं उन्होंने पहला सूत्र दिया था- गंदे व्यवसाय या पेशे को छोड़कर बाहर आना। दूसरा, मरे हुए जानवरों का मांस खाना छोड़ना, और तीसरा सर्वाधिक महत्वपूर्ण– अछूत होने की अपनी स्वयं की हीनभवना से बाहर निकलना और खुद को सम्मान देना। एक क्रम में रखकर देखें तो ये क्रांतिकारी सूत्र बहुत गहरी समाज मनोवैज्ञानिक तकनीकें हैं। इन सूत्रों का सौंदर्य और क्षमता निरपवाद हैं और जिन भी समुदायों या व्यक्तियों ने इसपर अमल किया है, इतिहास में उनकी उन्नति हुई है।दासता और गुलामी को तोङने की शुरुआत थी ये। लेकिन बौखलाए हिन्दूओं ने भीङ पर लाठियों से हमला कर दिया। बहुत से लोग घायल हुए। डाँ साहब ने अछूतों को संयम व शान्ति रखने की सलाह दी और कहा हमें प्रतिघा नहीं करना है। जन समुदाय ने अपने नेता की बात मान ली। उधर सवर्णो ने अछूतों के छूने से अपवित्र हुए चवदार तालाब का शुद्धिकरण करने के लिए गोबर व गौमूत्र तालाब में डलवाया। डाँ अम्बेडकर ने पुनः सत्याग्रह की योजना बनायी और पुनः 25 दिसम्बर को हजारों की संख्या में लोग इकट्ठा हुए लेकिन सत्याग्रह स्थगित करना पड़ा। डाँ अम्बेडकर ने बम्बई हाईकोर्ट में लगभग दस वर्ष तक ये लङाई लङी और अंत में 17 दिसम्बर 1936 को अछूतों को चवदार तालाब में पानी पीने का अधिकार मिला। यह अस्पृ्य समाज के लिए ऐतिहासिक जीत थी।

Most of the students that spoke to me in view school years as crucial to their careers—that the never-ending cycle of studies will end once they get a job. But the machinery of coaching industry has already expanded its reach to include adults. Being ready to thrive in a post-manufacturing era of service sector jobs and AI-driven economy calls for constant hamster wheel-style upgrades. Upskilling and reskilling are the new buzzwords.
The coaching culture epidemic is not just about school students. Landing a job doesn’t end it. The world changes at the blink of an eye now.

“The need of the hour is to acknowledge this sector as an industry and then bring legislation to regulate it. The sector brings revenue and employment and enhances the quality of education. Bureaucrats, MBBS doctors and IITians–all have contributed to this sector in the last 10-15 years.
Senior education officials are banking on the New Education Policy (NEP) to break the stranglehold that private tuition centres have over the education system. One of the objectives of the NEP is to focus on “regular formative assessment for learning rather than the summative assessment that encourages today’s coaching culture”.

Nearly a decade later, the 2021 (Annual Status of Education Report) ASER report revealed that 40 per cent of school children (aged 5-16) surveyed across 25 states and three union territories were enrolled in private tuition.
In 2018, it was 30 per cent. This trend has grown across all states except Kerala. A majority of families opting for private tuition were from lesser privileged classes.

The education system is getting more crowded and competitive, but infrastructure has not kept up. “Parents’ aspirations, children’s aspirations and job opportunities—all these factors make the ecosystem.
Exams are the only currency that decides a child’s future. The market is growing as the demand for these institutions is growing.
This year, UPSC 2022 preliminary examination saw more than 11 lakh aspirants competing for 1,011 seats.And more than 18 lakh students attempted NEET for 91,927 MBBS seats in 612 government and private medical colleges across the country.

The annual revenue of coaching institutes was a whopping Rs 24,000 crore, according to a 2015 estimate by an expert committee set up by the education ministry (then-Union Human Resource Development ministry).
The current market revenue of the coaching industry in India is Rs 58,088 crore, according to Infinium Global Research, a consultancy firm based in Pune.
The coaching industry’s growth is projected to reach Rs 1,34,000 crore by 2028.

जहां इस साल के दीप उत्सव में अयोध्या में माननीय श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी ने एक विश्व के समान या यूं कहिए कि बहुत बड़ा रिकॉर्ड कायम किया है!
