Hearing from God can be a scary concept. What if God doesn’t want to speak to me? If He does, how does He speak? How do I know if it's God speaking or something else? What do I do if God is asking me to do something strange? As we wrap up our FEAR NOT series, Pastor Adam answers these questions and more as he looks at Joshua Chapter 6 and the fall of Jericho.

We do not have to look far to feel fearful of our surroundings. Interest rates going up, talk of a recession, disease, war.. Every channel and social media platform is screaming the same thing. Be very afraid. Yet, our God and faith would say the exact opposite, that we should fear not. We are told to be strong, courageous, faith filled Christians in every circumstance or time of difficulty. So how do we do it? How do we fight the fear in our lives? It all starts with knowing that smallest, simplest truth - he won't leave you or abandon you. He is with you!

It’s one thing to say ”okay God, out of all my money you can have 10%” but what about the other 90%? How do we make sure that we first realize, the whole 100% is from God, and ensure we fight to not have a spirit of selfishness with our money but feel free and open to constantly be generous? Ps. Andy breaks down how to fight a selfish spirit and allow the Holy spirit to make sure we aren’t becoming a reservoir with our finances but a river that goes above and beyond in ways of generosity.

There are so many things in life you do alone, but truly, life is not meant to be done alone. Coastline church will always be team minded and together focused especially when it comes to serving and helping others. If you want to truly make a difference, if you want to help move people closer to Jesus, and build people and ministry and kingdom life on this island, it has to be done serving together. Alone we may run fast, but together we run far.

Here at Coastline Church we exist to help people take next steps. One of those steps is to help every single person fan into flame the gift that God has placed within them! If you’re a Christian and you belong to Jesus, then you are called to use the gifts and passions that God has put within you to serve and love those around you. We are all called to serve and guard the good deposit and gifting that he is uniquely knit you with and Jesus is asking you to use it every single day! It’s welcome home Sunday and we officially move forward with so much anticipation as we claim our new name “Coastline Church”. With so much excitement around our new name, Ps. Andy reminds us, we are still the same church, with the same mission and same pillars. We have always been a home of revival and God is still calling us to bring revival to Vancouver island, in helping people know God no matter what coastline they found themselves on.

It isn't something we talk about often, but the Power of the Blood of Jesus is so important not just theologically but also internally. Simply put, we live in a broken world that doesn’t know how to deal with pain, guilt and shame and the only thing that can speak a better word, bring a better life and truly liberate us from the heaviness is the sacrifice of Jesus. God has something better for us, it's time to stop looking to the world for our rescue.

To walk in love really has taken on a whole new meaning in today’s culture. To love in today’s society means to accept and affirm everyone and anyone no matter what they do or how they do it. Ps. Andy pushes back on this “conditional love” and helps us see what it really means to love God and love people in the way Paul urges us too. Paul describes a love that walks in God’s word, God’s way, God’s will in which we hold tight to our worldview while still loving sacrificially to others.

“Is that true?” A simple and profound question that seems to pop up daily in everyone's mind in today’s climate. Truth to many is a relative term but Jesus constantly spoke in absolutes more than suggesting ideas that “could be true.” He in fact pointed to himself as truth. Similar to the story we read together, we have all asked ourselves and Jesus that difficult, deep question; what is truth? Jesus answers that question, but are we ready to hear it? Or will we be like pilate and walk away before ever seeing and understanding how important the answer is for life today.

We’ve all been in that spot; stuck in a hard place, looking for direction, staring up at the sky asking “God, please give me a sign!” Like the Pharisees, many of us are desperate for that lightning bolt moment, because seeing a sign from God sure seems easier than simply believing in God. In week number 4 of our series questions Jesus asked, Ps. Lukas unpacks the context to what at first glance is a bit of an awkward sounding question. In a matter of moments, Jesus brings faith, healing and identity to the two people who reached out and asked for help. Its Easter Sunday and Ps. Andy has a word for you! When we think about Easter, we are so excited to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, that He is alive and He has won a great victory! Yet, for the disciples, Mary, and the two disciples walking on the road to emmaus, all they knew was Jesus had been crucified. They literally walked with Jesus on the road and still hadn’t fully grasped what had happened! Could it be that we could see Jesus and not truly know Him? We need a glimpse of the resurrected Jesus! Typically a scripture we’re more excited to flip past than read intentionally, Ps. Lukas breaks down Jesus’ words and warning when it comes to false prophets and false teachers. Jesus also helps us see exactly what He is after, a heartfelt relationship, deep connection with Him. It’s never just been about ticking off the “spiritual boxes''. Jesus promises to help us in the journey of worry! In this sermon, Ps. Make no mistake, Jesus has expectations of anyone who calls themselves a Christ follower. “When you …” are the words before Jesus talks about fasting, giving, and prayer and yet, there is one other piece to this puzzle. Jesus’ real concern is that the motivation of your heart is pure. What is your motivation to give? To look generous to others? Or to honour God & bless the least of these? This message will make you pause, reflect and check the motivation of your heart.

For centuries the Jews lived under what we know as “the law”, and in this sermon Ps. In this message Andy shows us the intriguing contrast between Jesus, the Messiah King and Herod, the ruling king. Jesus was born in a manger, Herod a mansion. Jesus came for the hurting, Herod lived for himself. Sometimes at Christmas we can become indifferent and find a small piece of Herod in all of us.
