Today we interview resource economics professor at Kyoudai University, Hart Freuer on living sustainably as a resident in Kyoto. From biking regularly to sustainable garden farming, Hart shares tips on how we as individuals and a school can become more environmentally conscious in our daily lives.
In this episode, we interview three teachers from the international preschool EtonHouse. Irene from Spain, Christine from Canada and Jessica from Brazil share their experience about what it's like to be a foreigner living in Japan. This episode is part of our collaboration with FM Karuizawa on their program Kids Media Labo. Radio segment to be out in December 2021.
One episode is not enough, so Mutty decided to extend the interview to talk about Andrei’s other experiences with language. He tells us about his experience in learning Japanese, explores the characteristics of languages, and the interview ends off with talking about Andrei’s hypothetical invented language.
In this episode, Mutty interviews guest Andrei Šarapov about his passions for languages, including the languages he speaks. Recently, Andrei has started an investigative project, comparing the sounds and origins of words from many different languages. Andrei’s linguistics passions stems beyond just his recent project, hence why we have a bonus episode to talk more about his passion.
In today’s episode, Iasa, from Syria, agreed to sit down with us to talk about the civil war. It has been ten years this week since the conflict started. Ten years in, half of the population is displaced and the country is devastated economically. Iasa offers us a personal insight into the life of someone living in war and hoping for peace.
On today’s episode of Break the Isak! We are interviewing Junpei Honda. He talks about his life in general, his experience being homeschooled, learning how to play the flute and about the award that he recently earned with his CAS “Change Maker Award”
Today we have an extra special episode of Break The Isak. We were given the opportunity to interview the missionaries who run the on-campus bible study group.
In this week's episode we interview a student and club leader here at UWC ISAK Japan. Mantaro is a G11 from Japan and is the current leader of the skateboarding club. Mantaro talks about his interests,goals and passions. He also talks about his experience attending an international boarding school like ISAK.
Today on Break The ISAK, we interviewed Mr.Taymour. He is a TOK teacher and has a background in both history and Business. Today he speaks to us about his life journey of becoming a teacher as well as his teaching philosophy. He also speaks to us about the most ambitious thesis paper he had written to date about the education systems put in place in Germany and Japan after WWII.
Today we interview Sisi about life in Mexico vs Japan, their darkroom CAS project, youtube channel and their love for photography and videography. Podcasts are not the greatest place to discuss the visual medium of photography, so check out Sisi’s work @mswshotsjpg on Instagram.
In this episode, we discuss with Mr. Lacoste about his passions for 60s cars, ranging from the Kharmann Ghia to the Alfa Romeo Guilia. Since his youthful days, his passion for cars has transitioned into an admiration for woodwork after moving to Japan. We also talked about his love for physics, math, and a little bit about his life journey.
In this episode, we interview Lydia about her passions, mainly her YouTube channel. Lydia is a brilliant leader at UWC ISAK Japan who runs a YouTube channel “Lydia Jane” to share her UWC experience and help other people interested in applying to UWC. Furthermore, We talked about the challenges and implications of being a YouTuber at a UWC.
On Friday the 12th of March 2021, Lauricenia, Kampe and Emmanuella organized an Afro-Textured hair workshop to raise awareness on discrimmination and historical contexts among other issues. In this episode, Mutty interviews one of the attendees, Kano Nagata about her thoughts on the workshop, her stance on cultural appropriation, and why she thinks it is important for these workshops to happen.
On this episode of Break The Isak, we interview Simon, a semi-professional volleyball player. Simon speaks about his journey as a volleyball player and the highs and lows of his career. As a competitive player both on and off campus he certainly had a lot to say.
In this episode, we interview one of our team members, Mutty, on his blog about his thoughts on his home country. Cambodia Through the Wide Lens is a blog about Mutty’s opinions and thoughts on Cambodia since arriving in Japan. With this blog, he aims to reflect on his own country and develop a better understanding of Cambodian society with the assistance of new knowledge he gains from being in a different environment.
Here at ISAK we have 3 types of clubs; student-led, core and activity. With the help of our 3 guest speakers, Ben, Kyria and Ally, in this episode we learn more about what these clubs do, the leaders behind it and how club leaders balance their student life on top of this role with responsibility.
Today's episode is about the final U.S. presidential debate with our first special guest speaker of the show: Mr.Earwood! He is a Global Politics teacher at UWC ISAK Japan, his expertise being international relations. In this episode, we explore the history of the debates and the significance of them besides commenting on the candidates and their performance. Discussing the main themes of the debate, we touched on topics that are of global importance while trying our best to be neutral.
