It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of podcast guest, Team USA Goalie, and everyone's best friend T.J. Stewart.

We recorded a few thoughts as a preview to the re-release of one of our favorite episodes, "The Summer of T.J." TJ Stewart was everyone's kid brother, who was "a beacon in a really dark world."

We will be celebrating TJ's life on Wednesday as a hockey community by showing how much of the hockey community truly were TJ's buddies, by supporting a "Sticks Out For TJ" movement, by posting a picture of a hockey stick outside your door for support with the hashtag @SticksOutFotTj (The captials are important for screen reader users like TJ to understand Hashtags.)

It made it a much more important episode when we found out both Mark DeMontis, who we had been playing with all weekend, and Kelsey McGuire were BOTH nominated for the Willie O'Ree Community Hero award!

We had to have Kelsey on to help promote her campaign of American voters to add to our recap of our weekend in Calgary!

"You're killing me, Kory!" - Drew

Today, we have a unique episode - possibly the most mentally taxing episode for the boys. We'd like to introduce our producer, Kory Shinohara! He has been the man behind the camera for the Dented Pucks for almost 3 years, now he's the one in front of it. We discuss how he got into hockey as a sport, how he got into broadcasting at the University of Kansas, why he's a Knights fan (opposed to his hometown Hawks), how he discovered blind hockey, and where he wants to take us to in the future!

Mark DeMontis:

This week we were proud to host another OG Blind hockey player. Mark DeMontis was behind the original skate across Canada to raise money for Blind hockey. Through that organization, Courage Canada, he and his team were able to grow the sport and grow the organization to what we now know as Canadian Blind Hockey. Whether it was strapping on rollerblades or donning his countries colors; mark has continued to be a leader on and off the ice as well as a vocal advocate for the sport. We thoroughly enjoyed having him on and barely scratched the surface on his time on the ice.

As Josh has said many times, “this may be our best episode yet!”

Some of the biggest opportunities come out of shared visions.

Anthony is a hockey player, a future lawyer, an advocate, and an author.  As Anthony explains, he used his experiences, both positive and negative, to educate younger hockey players about the difficulties growing up different in the hockey world of Minnesota.  Anthony's book "Hockey is for Everybody" led him to host a "Hockey is For Everybody" Camp this summer at St. Cloud State University, that The Dented Puck is proud bring the Windy City Showdown to for a weekend full of hockey, workouts, hockey sense training, and team building.

Three years ago Drew told his story to Cody Beekman on Cody’s podcast “On the Bench With Beeks.”  Well, we turned the tables on Drew and forced his time on the hot seat.  Drew takes us through his journey through sight loss and finding blind hockey.  We take another journey through the creation of the podcast and the showdown.  We talk about Drew’s motivations for the creation of the Showdown and the podcast as well as getting our chances to take jabs at Drew.  And if you know all of us, the only person that would have subtitled Drew’s episode “I’m here for the hockey” is the only person humble enough to not play in his own tournament, then write ad copy for his own episode “I’m here for the hockey.”  We love you Drew, but it’s so much more than that.
