The best Punjabi music for group exercise, and motivation to keep moving. Pungra is a movement about movement, challenging you with the question, "if we were to use Punjabi music in an exercise class, what would a good class look like?"

As I try to educate people on what bhangra is, or isn't, I often face this barrier, a symptom of closed mindedness. People think bhangra, is a thing. Meaning they think it is one very specific label. Something everyone agrees on. I am here to set that record straight. Bhangra, and also the term dance, are not a thing. The reason you should listen, or watch, this, is to broaden your mind, so that the next time someone asks you, "what is bhangra?", instead of saying something misinformed like "it's a dance style from India". You can say, something more like "well if I ask you, what is dance, do you have a single answer?" To which they will hopefully say no. You can then tell them, "if dance is not one thing, you'll understand why bhangra is also, not one thing".

My dabbling in the health and fitness industry teaches me some important lessons. They are not about "eat less, exercise more". Becoming healthier and fitter is a little more complicated than this, which is why we must rely on those with the passion to dive deep into the subject matter.
One such "deep-diver" is Manjit Singh Dol of Absolutely Fit. With deep experience in martial arts, resistance training and nutrition, Manjit is truly a person of science when it comes to helping people achieve their fitness goals. His recent area of deep research is with obesity management.
Listen to our conversation, in which we only scratched the surface of understanding how health and fitness is more complicated than the media and news outlets will have you believe. Including what are some of the myths that need to be set aside and how you can move forward to work with a no nosense coach like Manjit Singh Dol.

Pungra has received a grant to run a project to encourage more people to exercise from home, with a focus on South Asians. It will run from October to December 2020.
This project will probably appeal to South Asian females primarily, but anyone is welcome to join the activations. In this podcast find out about what the project is, how it came about, why we need activators (and not excuses), how the project will benefit you, including learning Microsoft Teams. The project is perfect for anyone interested in eventually becoming a Pungra Group Exercise Instructor in the future, but you don't have to become an instructor to continue to be a fantastic activator.
If you're thinking "I don't think I can become an activator, I am not good at doing Pungra", then you've got the wrong end of the stick. Pungra Activators do not need to be able to do the moves, and definitely not be able to instruct them. Instead, Activators are motivators and coordinators which you will achieve using technologies like WhatsApp or similar.
