In this episode of the I Am A Champion Show, the guys are joined by Keyen Lage to discuss how developing your emotional intelligence is essential to our success
Keyen is a former NFL Athlete turned Success Coach for Established Female Entrepreneurs & Business Owners. After almost becoming paralyzed during a football injury in the National Football League, Keyen was able to start his new journey by looking at life from a completely new perspective. He decided to dive headfirst into mastering the relationship he has with his feminine side— a side that uses "ease" and "flow" to attract what he wants, instead of "forcing" and "making things happen".
Since making that decision to mend that relationship with his feminine side, he's built an incredibly successful coaching business showing others how to do the same. Having worked with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, professional athletes, and world-class fitness models, Keyen's work in helping top performers find fulfillment in their lives through getting in touch with their feminine is impressive, considering it all started with a football injury.

In this episode, the guys are joined by Ryan Schachtner to discuss a one of the main areas in athletes’ lives that needs to be a must win.
Ryan was a collegiate baseball player who had dreams and a path to play professionally until a career ending injury sidelined him. With his dream of playing professionally over, Ryan had to pivot and figure out what the rest of his life would look like.
Using the skills he developed over the years of playing sports, Ryan set out on his own and started his own financial planning firm. His firm, Carolina Asset Management, has grown to become one of premier firms on the East Coast. After 21 years of building a firm Ryan became known among professional athletes as someone that could “fix” their financial problems and translate the complicated world of finance into easy-to-understand fundamentals for success.
His clients urged him to use his talent to develop a program that all student-athletes, regardless of professional aspirations, could use to prevent financial mistakes and level the playing field with many of their peers who have an inherent advantage in learning financial lessons. Ryan went to work to build a program that individual athletes, college athletic teams, and athletic departments can leverage to complete the “whole athlete” development; and provide education, lessons and resources that can be used to build financial legacy in order to gain the ultimate competitive advantage.
Currently working with schools in some of the largest conferences in the country, Ryan provides education in a way that any athlete can relate to, the language of sports. We all have a financial “season.” Like in sports, a season is divided into many games. Each game comes with a lesson and an opponent to overcome. Ryan’s game plan is a full-proof protocol that you can use to beat that opponent.

Billy has been the Executive Director of Steps of Faith Foundation since 2013. Billy understands first-hand the emotional and physical challenges that come with losing a limb. As an amputee himself, his life's joy is helping other amputees move forward. Billy lost his left leg to Ewings Sarcoma in 2005. As a life-long musician, this could have been devastating to his career. Still young and active, he needed a prosthesis that would give him mobility and allow him to continue to play the drums and live an active life. Thanks to a large fundraiser held for him by friends and family, he was able to raise more than $30,000 for his first prosthetic limb. This is why he truly understands the financial hardships that come with losing a limb. With his new prosthesis, Billy was back on tour playing the drums within just a few months of his surgery. While his love for music is strong, his passion to serve other amputees through this charity is even stronger. He wants every amputee to have mobility no matter how limited their resources are. Billy currently lives in Kansas City with his wife and two children.

This episode is about being dedicated, committed, and being open minded.
Beginning In 1996 Coach Reggie had the opportunity to play in the NFL for 5 seasons and played with 3 teams. Coach Reggie’s path to the NFL was not a straight one.
Reggie knows first-hand how difficult it is for a young athlete. He had no offers after his senior year in high school and elected to take the junior college route in order to continue his education. Reggie’s college coaches made a huge impact on him and his success. Growing up in a single parent household, those relations were invaluable to Reggie’s success. After two successful seasons, major D1 colleges were calling. Ultimately, he chose the University of Kentucky and played his final two collegiate seasons there.
Being a student-athlete Reggie learned early on what it takes to become successful. Dedication, commitment and an open mind have helped Reggie succeed after pro sports. Reggie knew his calling was to help give back to young student athletes in his community. In 2006 Reggie founded Next Level Academy. Next Level was established to assist young athletes with mental and physical tools for success on and off the field. Reggie started off with a few clients but within a year was able to open up a training facility. Reggie had a passion to transform the athletes he trained into motivated individuals. Ten years later Reggie continues to assist student athletes with the tools of success.

This episode is about what it takes to create authentic and loving relationships through the power of sports. We talk about some of the universal principles that successful relationships have in common that create significant impact in the lives of others
In this episode, Jim and Jason are joined by Karen Moyer. She has always been a hopeful entrepreneur, a tireless philanthropist/national advocate for children and yet what she loves most of all is being a mother of 8. Her hope is that her children learn from her that they have to find their passion, that they have a purpose and to always try to make the world a better place.
Her grit and perseverance has been powered by learning from others and from her own failures and accomplishments with the utmost grace … even when the deep truth was that it was all way much harder than she let it show most of the time.
She was the first girl to play little league baseball and playing with all boys made her appreciate the grit it takes when one has the confidence to do something extreme. Her athletic skills helped me from being made fun of but the boys were ruthless – especially from the pressure they made her feel every at bat and in the field. Determined, She had the courage to be the first girl to play because She was supported by her parents, brother, and her team of boys.
In High School She decided to work in television sports. Her dream was to be a sports reporter. This was in the 1980s when few women were pioneering this progression. The grit and backbone she needed to stay focused again in a “man's world,” was imperative to have any success. She set goals to work the Olympics on TV and She started that dream 1988 in Calgary with ABC working figure skating setting up the skaters in the “kiss and cry” for the amazing Peggy Fleming to interview after their performance.
She attended the University of Notre Dame. She is an ‘87 grad and studied American Studies for television. She worked in the sports information department all 4 years, as well as interned at NBC NFL 84 in NYC after freshman year; worked local TV through graduation. While her TV dream was put on hold (basically for life) because She married into the up and down life of MLB moving 84 times in the 25 year amazing career of Jamie Moyer.
She currently lives in Southern California. When she’s not helping people find love reimagined, making connections and building corporate responsible programs for companies, She can be found in spin class, Pilates, boxing, walking her dogs on the beach, sailing around the world, or hanging out with her amazing kids … Making every day ridiculously amazing!
