The community shower at Redemption Church is in need of gently used towels! If you have bath towels, hand towels, or washcloths in good condition that you no longer need, please consider donating them. Every towel helps those experiencing homelessness in Olathe feel cared for. Drop off in Mandy's office.

Mid-Year Update: Our Summer College Interns at Work!As we continue through the middle of 2025, we wanted to provide an update on the invaluable contributions of our summer college intern team. These dedicated young leaders are actively engaged across various facets of our church life, and we are incredibly grateful for their commitment and hard work.
Our interns are instrumental in various areas, including:
- Running our Wednesday night youth group, ensuring engaging and fun experiences for our middle and high school students.
- Helping plan and execute our art and sports camp, bringing their energy and creativity was essential.
- Assisting with events and logistics throughout the week, keeping our programs running smoothly.
- Attending all staff meetings, gaining valuable insight into the daily operations and vision of the church.
- Engaging in a dedicated curriculum of spiritual and ecclesial formation, deepening their understanding of ministry and faith.

Taking on key leadership roles in our Sunday morning ministries for July:
- Brennan Frye and Kylea McDorman will be leading our Early Childhood Ministry for July, providing essential assistance to our Early Childhood Coordinator, Jo Overholt, in planning and organizing.
- Soli Guinto and Wini Kapple are stepping up to lead our Elementary Ministry for July, assisting our Elementary Coordinator, Nancy Bartelt, with planning and organization.
- Anna Shoup will be assisting with our Youth and U18 check-in on Sunday mornings.
We wanted to remind you who these amazing individuals are. Their presence enriches our entire church, and we encourage you to continue to connect with them as you see them serving throughout the summer.
Meet Our Summer Interns:
**Wini Kapple:** Wini is a graduate of Kansas State University and will be teaching middle school in KCK in the fall. Wini interned with us last year and actually decided to intern again. Wini has unbelievable character and questionable decision making.
**Brennan Frye:** Brennan is currently studying Psychology at Mid America Nazarene University. He's passionate about music, movies, and art. He is a collector of 25 minute long songs. Don’t ask him to make a list of his favorites.
**Anna Shoup:** Anna is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and is attending the University of Wisconsin Law School in the fall. She has a heart for serving and is looking forward to doing so this summer. No one has ever called Shoup by her first name.
**Soli Guinto:** Soli is attending Kansas University and studying Environmental Science and Engineering. Her enthusiasm for life and relationships is contagious, and she's eager to connect with our community. However, she is desperately in love with MJ Lenderman and will quit the internship to meet him.
**Kylea McDorman:** Kylea attends Mid America Nazarene University and is currently studying psychology. She was raised in the church, never shying away from the chance to jump into leadership roles. But her Achilles heel is conversation hearts, don’t let her within a 25 mile radius.
We are profoundly grateful for this crew and their dedication to our community and neighborhood this summer. Please continue to offer them your encouragement and support as they serve our community.

Where: First Baptist Church of Overland Park, 8200 W 96th St, Overland Park, KS 66212
Volunteer Roles:
- Team Lead: someone who is comfortable in a human services role, guiding the other volunteers, and call who needs to be called if an emergency happens (you’ll receive a guide with all of the details)
- Volunteers: 3-4 people per shift who help get guests signed in and out, read them the rules, restock snacks and bathrooms as needed, clean up
Volunteer Shifts: 2.5-3 hr shifts. If you’re available for a longer period of time, please sign up for more than 1 shift! Please sign up for shifts here.

Snow Brigade Team Snow Brigade Registration Winter is coming! We are building a team that would come out and clear the steps and sidewalks for our Sunday morning service. When snow is on the ground on Sunday morning we currently have one person who clears the steps and sidewalks! Once you register you will be asked to come salt the steps and sidewalks on Saturday and then clear the snow on Sunday morning before the service begins.

REGISTER HERE You are invited to join us for the 6th annual Redemption Church Trivia Night in support of the youth ministry! This fundraiser is a night of fun, trivia, friends, food, and nonsense.
Last year the "Beverly Hill Billies" rose up to capture the crown from the two time trivia night champions. Their victory was out of nowhere. Their dominance was unforeseen. Their banner shall never fade.
How do I play?
- When you click register, you are registering in one of two ways: AS AN INDIVIDUAL or AS A TEAM.
- If you want to play but do not have a team, sign up as an individual and we will place you on a team. It costs $25 to register as an individual.
- If you want to play as a team, get your team together BEFORE you register and sign up to play. Each team can have 3-6 people on it. To register as a team it costs $150. That is $25 per player. Make sure you have your team name ready!

parenting seminar: finding hope
Redemption’s U18 ministry is hosting a parenting seminar this Saturday, July 13th from 9am - 12:45pm. Parenting is not easy. Parenting as Christians in a world where Christianity has made so many wrong turns is... almost impossible. As a staff and community we have talked a lot about deconstruction and reconstruction, but what about our children? How might we invite our children into a faith tradition that is organized in such a way that is a conduit for hope and does no harm. How might our children be told the truth about the world and not lose hope?
We hope you join us for this morning seminar to discuss this monumental task of raising our children with clear eyes about the world we live in while simultaneously inviting them to be full of hope for the future of God.
We will open the morning with a discussion of hope and parenting and then we will breakout into three classes that you can choose from:
- The Theology of Hope - Cole McGee
- The Practice of Hope - Nancy Bartelt
- The Psychology of Hope - Kristin Suttle

This special holiday asks the people of God to gather and contemplate the mystery of Christ’s resurrection. Marking the beginning of Lent, we invite you to join us for our Ash Wednesday Service tomorrow, Wednesday, February 14th from 7-9pm. Our Ash Wednesday Service is a self-guided worship service to prepare for the administering of ashes by the pastoral staff. This is an all ages service designed as a safe place to contemplate some of the heaviest parts of our life together. Ash Wednesday asks us to contemplate our mortality, our weakness, and our dependence on God and each other. Each station has age appropriate activities for you and your family. Please allow for 30-40 minutes to move through the stations.
2023 giving statements
Your 2023 Giving Statements have gone out via email. Please open and download your statement for your tax record, as the link expires this Thursday, February 15th. After that, it can be accessed through your Church Center account. If two or more people in your family gave throughout the year, you may have each received a statement.

Join us for our 9th annual Neighborhood Soccer Camp! This event is always a great time with kids from our church and our neighborhood coming together to play and enjoy the summer weather. Our camp is not intended to prepare the next Messi or train the next Ronaldo, but instead, we think our kids want to have a safe space to play. Therefore, we seek to create a week of fun and games for our kids built around the world's sport of soccer. Monday - Friday, June 19th - 23rd, 10am - 12pm. eden village fundraiser
Eden Village of KC aspires to be a small home community for the disabled and chronically homeless. They are holding their 2nd annual fundraiser this Thursday, May 18th from 5:30p-8:30p at Limitless Brewery in Lenexa (9500 Dice Lane). BBQ by our own Jim Schmidt includes bbq and a side for $13 or 2 dinners and 2 raffle tickets for $30. There will be live music by Double Take, a silent auction and the raffle. All proceeds will go directly to the tiny home community. Children are welcome.

- Palm Sunday Service & Easter Egg Hunt - April 2nd at 10am/12noon
The U18 ministry is hosting an Easter egg hunt in the church lawn! There will be two zones (Preschool and Elementary) so that each age group will have a better experience hunting eggs. We will gather on the lawn after the service and the hunt will start at noon. Please bring your own baskets for collecting eggs.

spring workday
It's that time again! Spring work day is this Saturday, April 1st. We are looking to accomplish a lot of projects indoors and out. We have projects for families and more complex projects for more specific skills. You can sign up to help out all day or you can sign up to help with the outdoor morning shift from 8am - 11am or the indoor afternoon shift from 12pm - 3pm. We will have lunch available for everyone.

ash wednesday service
Join us tomorrow night, Wednesday, February 22nd from 7:00-9:00pm for our Ash Wednesday Service, a self-guided worship service to prepare for the administering of ashes by the pastoral staff. This is an all ages service designed as a safe place to contemplate some of the heaviest parts of our life together. Ash Wednesday asks us to contemplate our mortality, our weakness, and our dependence on God and each other. Each station has age appropriate activities for you and your family. Please allow for 30-40 minutes to move through the stations.

- The Art of Advent - As part of our effort to decrescendo this season, we invite you to join us for a morning of art, stillness, and prayer. Monday, December 12th from 9:30-11:30, take a pause in the busyness of the Christmas season to orient our hearts to the mystery of Jesus’s advent.
