Two best friends and former housemates, Sheppard Bridgetower and Henri Dubois, try to keep their friendship alive.
They say that silence is golden. After a brief hiatus, Sheppard and Henri are back, and yes, they remain friends. In this episode, they provide an update on their most recent food eating challenge. As is custom, a tangential discussion features, this time about tennis forehands and backhands. On the more structured segment of the episode, Sheppard delves deeper into the mechanism and zero in on how the price difference between market one and market two arises. Words such as cross-price elasticity, arbitrage, and subsidies jump out of the proverbial bag. On the topic of food, Henri talks about eating and community.
After much anticipation, Sheppard and Henri catches up once more. Things have been going swell and Sheppard is enjoying a more 'vibe-based' approach to things, which has led to some lateral thinking with respect to 'Sheppard Equilibrium'. How about using the mechanism to fine-tune the economy? Food for thought. Speaking of which, Henri compares a dine-in experience at a restaurant versus takeaway. Which one is worth more? Sheppard and Henri assemble once more to have a yarn or chinwag about 'slow-paced' jobs. Do these exist? Sheppard had some further thoughts about the mechanism and how it can help incentivise lending to high-risk individuals, with the upside being that the lender does not care if the loan principal is repaid! Too good to be true? On the food front, Henri makes an observation about nature strips while having lunch outdoors on a rainy day.
Hearing a tune played in public is a simple pleasure. Shout out to Still Woozy. In this episode, Sheppard talks about the 'Sheppard Equilibrium' and this is not the chemistry kind. What does this have to do with pizzas? Speaking of which, Henri raises the important question of chicken parmigiana or chicken schnitzel? Finally, if you are not into live sport, get around it!
Returning once again for the ninth time, Henri and Sheppard spend more time discussing what could probably be deemed a ground-breaking business idea. So, what does infinity have to do with business? Sheppard will enlighten us with some mathematical proofs. Meanwhile, Henri reflects on the reasoning behind having aquariums in a restaurant. Smells fishy, don't you think?
We are back! Henri spent time rubbing his shoulders with some people in real life, while Sheppard continues to ‘vibe’ things. In this episode, the Sheppard Equilibrium is introduced. Before you jump to conclusions, it is not a Ponzi scheme. In the food segment, the discussion is sprinkled with herbs and charring or browning food. Sheppard finally found diced vegetables, so hooray! Finally, have you ever played soccer alone? It’s apparently possible, as Sheppard recently discovered.
Believe it or not, Sheppard and Henri are still friends! Veja features as the first topic of conversation. Sheppard is intrigued Veja's sustainability agenda and what it means for consumers. Then, being the cereal food conversationalist, Henri talks about breakfast foods. Lastly, Sheppard and Henri finally shot some hoops!
Reconvening once again, Sheppard successfully acquires some dice from a local store, albeit at a great cost. Was it worthwhile? Meanwhile, Henri considers the idea of growing your own food and SpongeBob is somehow linked. Finally, the episode closes with some NCAA Basketball Championships discussion.
It turns out that Sheppard and Henri remain friends and so, in this episode, they talk about finding physical dice in the 21st century — dicey business. Henri asks 'yay or nay' to pre-packaged meals and basket or trolley at the supermarket? Strangely, Sheppard discovers strangers playing tennis on a basketball court. To close, Sheppard and Henri debates whether one would rather 50 or 60 points? What about $50 or $60 million?
While Sheppard awaits the mass on Reddit and Medium to provide feedback on 'The Mechanism', he ruminates about the link between network effects and dice. Henri talks about his supermarket shopping habits, which is unsettling to Sheppard. The basketball court is finally unlocked and Ja Morant gets a mention.
