I love this time of year as the weather is warming up and there is hope in the air. There is nothing but positivity and gratitude surrounding me these days…and I’m here for it.
Speaking my mind on social media can be wrought with stress and anxiety, but it’s a platform where I have a voice and, dammit, I’m going to use it.
Elon Musk’s attempt at a takeover/buyout of Twitter is being pegged as a free speech issue. It is more of an oligarchical issue…and I explain why and how oligarchs threaten to take over our democracy.
Almost 6 months into being sober, I still struggle a little bit with the social aspect of it and how it effects my relationships with other people.
Why I have some issues with religion and some religious-minded people are a danger to our country’s democracy.
Societal expectations tell us we must find that partner, but what if we changed the norm to include partnerships like a group of women who become life partners and supper systems without the need to find “the one”?
Bring fun back into your life and say yes to what life brings you. Lean into what feels right and let the Universe bring you what you need.
Intelligence and confidence can actually repel men but not the right men…don’t dim your light or dumb yourself down to find a partner. Stand in your intelligence and light and be who you are. The right man will respond in the right way, supporting you and helping you shine brighter.
We all battle imposter syndrome, but we have to battle every day and push through those difficult times, blow through those red lights, and continue along the path. Remember that it is about the journey, not the destination.
As humans we need to make friends with the “other,” meaning any group we do not identify with so that we can expand our minds and perspectives. No one is free until we are all free. Celebrate diversity and become curious in learning about people who are different from you.
*Note: Alok Vaud-Menon identifies as “they/them.” I did not refer to them as such in this recording, so I apologize for the error.
No words tonight so I will use Warsan Shire’s words in honor and in memorial of those Ukrainians who perished in the Bucha massacre.
Take time to slow down and allow yourself to process, think, and be with yourself. Solitude can be the best and most important change we make for ourselves.
Embrace the feeling of melancholy or bittersweet moments and give yourself permission to feel all the emotions that come up for you.
Perfectionism is a symptom of our insecurities. So I talk about how to understand and combat insecurities in your life.
Perfectionism can be debilitating and harmful to our lives. It is something I have dealt with my whole life. I would like to cover this in a more lengthy podcast, but here are my initial thoughts on it.
I feel low and depressed after sharing vulnerabilities with people, especially the public. I call it my vulnerability hangover.
My commentary on the complexity of the incident surrounding the slap heard ‘round the world at the Oscars involving Will Smith and Chris Rock.
*correction on my pronunciation of Alopecia (not “apropecia”).
Update: I was instructed not to use the word “nappy”…which, in this context, was meant as commentary on how prejudiced white people describe the hair of people of color (but it didn’t land right)…but it is a trigger word regardless so I apologize for using it.
It is okay to be sad through the dating process. It isn’t easy and can sometimes be very lonely.
The challenges of dating in the early stages and the struggles that we face as we try to develop a bond with a guy.
I talk about the book The Sum of Us, education, and what factors are most important in saving our democracy.
How my relationship has changed with my parents over the years and the struggles I have been facing.
Feel sad when you are sad and acknowledge your feelings and emotions. Then speak what you desire and need out into the universe.
Don’t take today for granted and do what you need to do in order to simplify your life and live in gratitude.
Do your best to be yourself, and don’t be afraid to show your uniqueness or weirdness when dating. The more open we are, the more we’ll attract what is right for us.
Seize the day and go book that trip or buy that car. Do what makes you happy today and live in the moment.
Break-ups happen for a reason. Be thankful it ended and move on, and find your people who want to put in the time to get to know you.
Moving from my inner life to my outer world and processing through my body rather than my brain.
Female friendships serve us deeply at times and then move on to serve their purpose elsewhere. They’re still gifts that keep giving, but they aren’t necessarily meant to stay indefinitely.
I was challenged by a friend to start recording myself and my thoughts. This is the outcome.
