Drawing from the lessons learned during his recovery and his business acumen, he founded Oar Health—a telehealth platform designed to support individuals dealing with substance abuse. In this week’s episode, let’s talk about the difference between working in, working on, and working above your business - with my guest Bradley Hamner.
He shares how other entrepreneurs & business owners can install the systems, processes, and routines their business needs to grow and scale. The ultimate outcome? A successful business that creates the freedom and flexibility every owner desired from the start.
In this conversation, we also discuss…
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Bradley Hamner is a Business Growth Coach, certified Value Builder, creator of The Rainmaker to Architect Assessment, and host of the Above The Business Podcast.
He started his first business in 2009 with no customers, no leads, and very little cash. After being successful early in his career in sales, Bradley believed that his ability to be the Rainmaker for the business would be enough to grow and scale. That however, proved not to be the case.
From 2009 – 2014 after seemingly working around the clock, with young children at home, endless rescheduled appointments and tee-offs, and hitting an invisible barrier to personal and business growth, he knew something had to change.
Bradley had a stress-related health scare at the age of 34, which greatly changed his perspective. He began to build himself first as a leader, and then he focused on re-structuring his business. He learned how to “architect” the business to work for him, not the other way around. This led him to designing the ultimate operating system for business owners – BlueprintOS. This framework has empowered business owners to move successfully from rainmaker to architect in their business.

In this week’s episode, we talk about stress, how it sometimes pushes us to be dependent on certain substances, and how that could possibly lead to addiction.
My guest to help me talk about this topic is a former oil broker whose lifestyle pushed him to consume a lot of alcohol. He knew that something had to be done to fix this because it was starting to affect his personal life…
Many people get into drinking because of the social aspect of it. Sadly, we still live in a world that makes us think that if you don’t drink alcohol, you’ll never really be part of the “fun group”. This is despite us knowing the damaging effects of alcohol on our health.
Well, Ruari is on a mission to make us realize that alcohol is pulling you away from reaching your full potential in life…

In this episode, my guest, Nat Eliason, joins me to share his fascinating journey…
In 2021, Nat was unemployed with a baby on the way. He needed a way to quickly make as much money as possible, so he turned to the most promising “get rich quick” opportunity of the time: crypto.
By 2022, Nat was deeper inside the world of crypto than he’d ever imagined—with all its dramatic highs and devastating lows.
He was a self-taught programmer who now wrote code holding hundreds of millions of dollars of other people's money.
His crypto wallet was hacked, leaving him to watch helplessly as his funds were drained in a flurry of transactions.
He sold an NFT of an ape for two hundred grand—deciding when to sell based on a combination of gambling and aggressive speculation.
He became an influencer, speaking at conferences, and writing a weekly newsletter to tens of thousands of fans.
Best of all, Nat had amassed a small fortune.
Nat’s book, CRYPTO CONFIDENTIAL, is Nat's unfiltered, insider account of the hyperactive, hyper-speculative, hyper-addictive, nearly unregulated, completely insane world being built on the blockchain.
Along the way, Nat educates readers with informative asides for both beginning and advanced crypto investors alike—from the basics of blockchain and NFTs, to avoiding bad crypto actors and how to decide when to sell.
In this interview, we talk about:
- Getting rich, going broke, and getting scammed.
- Nat’s personal journey, and a peek at how the crypto-sausage gets made.
- How we can all be more educated participants during the next inevitable bull run.
- And more!

This episode is different from any other episode I’ve put out lately...
We have 2 guests in one episode this week. They are both very close friends of mine. And our topic is not just about leadership - we get personal and vulnerable about life’s challenges and losses, tenacity and success, not giving up and always looking for ways to do things better.
I am also glad to say that this conversation explores the topic of family, relationships, love, and choosing to live a rich life based on your own definition of what makes it worth living.
These, and so much more, are in store for you in this episode. Enjoy.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Craig and Lore Hamilton are old friends of mine, and I have had the privilege of knowing them for over two decades. Their story is one of perseverance, tenacity, hard work, and ultimately, love.
Despite facing personal tragedies, Craig and Lore have built an amazing marriage and business partnership, raised children who are starting their own families, created an impressive real estate portfolio and achieved significant passive income. They did all of this in the aftermath of tragedy.
Their journey is a testament to the power of the human spirit. It is a story of how, even in the face of adversity, we can rise above our circumstances and achieve our dreams and I asked them to be on the show because they inspire me both as individuals and as a couple.

“I’m encouraging leaders to ask some important questions about themselves and about the ways that their old-fashioned ideas are getting in the way of them getting the best out of themselves and their people. And I’m also challenging them to leave their organizations and, ideally, the world in a better place than they found it.”
This episode, inspired by my guest’s amazing book called Punks in Suits, aims to dare leaders to question the way things are done and to create a positive impact that will last across generations.
In this 50-minute conversation…
We assess the world of work, with practical takeaways and engaging illustrations.
We highlight key areas where organizations must rethink how they work and use people.
We cover topics such as deconstructing hierarchical thinking, embracing peoples’ humanity, and using business as a force for good.
And so much more!

“The heart of performance” - why we act and perform a certain way. Derin asks the questions that explore our behavioral drivers, our passions, our beliefs, and our identity.
Sports psychology and principles that translate so well in the world of business.
Work-life balance myths - debunking common definitions of work-life balance and introducing what Derin calls “work-life presence”.

This week on the podcast, I am joined by Joe Rare as we talk about our personal experiences and insights on entrepreneurship while highlighting the role of upbringing, mentorship, and resilience in shaping our aspirations and business strategies.
Joe shares his experiences with business setbacks and successes, and strategies for scaling businesses by leveraging virtual assistants.
He also talks about Level Nine Virtual, a platform that provides project-based services with specialists in various fields.
Throughout the conversation, Joe and I make sure to emphasize the importance of learning from failures, adapting to new strategies, and managing virtual teams effectively.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Joe Rare is an “underground” serial entrepreneur, investor, outsourcing expert, father and husband. He currently owns four digital companies, five wedding venues, and real estate investment properties.
Joe's journey began with a door-to-door product sales business, which grew from a team of two to 40 employees in under two years. He later sold the company after 27 months. His passion for sales never dimmed, but he discovered what his life’s work would be - building digital businesses. The road was definitely made of dirt with a lot of potholes. There were failed businesses in the early days, but he took the failures and learned to create wins. He has since built multiple 7+ figure companies and built a strong and growing real estate portfolio.
Joe focuses on helping small- to medium-sized businesses around the world, while working from the comfort of his home in Montana and enjoying Big Sky Country with his family. He’s an investor and looks to find projects that he can use his marketing leverage to impact growth and profitability. All of his companies are fully being run by his virtual assistants.

This week, my podcast guest talks about his journey in creating habit-tracking apps with AI integration, while highlighting the potential for personalized insights and recommendations to change people's lives…
In this episode, we also discuss:
The challenges of building and monetizing the apps
The need for a clear roadmap and understanding the target audience's needs
The benefits of integrating AI language models in personal development apps, and strategies for growing these apps, including synergizing with software companies, coaches, and enterprise channels.
Last but not least, the crucial aspects of forming habits and overcoming resistance; and the importance of starting small, being consistent, and keeping a positive mindset.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Over the past two decades, Mike Jalonen has built thriving software companies and his entrepreneurial spirit has led him to implement self-development tactics across different aspects of his life. In early 2023, he made a commitment to being the healthiest and wealthiest he has ever been while also helping others do the same.
Inspired by his frustration with existing goal-setting and habit-tracking apps, Mike is creating Habit Driven, the first of its kind with AI integration that makes it unique and innovative. With this app, Mike aims to help users join his self-development mission and achieve their goals while improving their lives. The app’s unique AI integration allows users to set and track habits more effectively than ever before.

This week’s episode revolves around leadership development, mission statements, and eliminating resignation in organizations. Our amazing speakers (yes, this week we have two guests) emphasize the importance of aligning purpose and empowerment to create a culture that resonates with employees and stakeholders. They also discuss various effective leadership and management strategies, including understanding individual team members' motivations and personal aspirations, prioritizing meaningful targets, and fostering a commitment to a higher purpose.
In this conversation, we also highlight the challenges of implementing these concepts in larger organizations and the need for intentionality and practical exercises in creating an exceptional culture.
ABOUT OUR GUESTS
Brad Zimmerman has been helping CEOs create exceptional cultures since 1992. He believes there is unlimited potential in the human spirit and that we all adopt beliefs that can limit our potential. Gaining access to this potential unleashes personal and organizational growth. He turned to organizational coaching more than 30 years ago following a successful career in sales and operations. Since then, he has helped over 10,000 leaders in businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations develop cultures that transform work environments so people grow and the organizations thrive.
Tom Willis is an organizational culture expert. He believes we are all born with unlimited potential. As a former classroom teacher, he also believes in the power of lifelong learning. These beliefs have shaped his primary goal in life: helping others uncover their talents so they can reach their potential. This week, our guest is Aleric Heck. He joins me on the mic to talk about his entrepreneurial journey, which actually started from childhood. He began with small ventures like paper routes and selling popcorn as a Boy Scout, which is how he learned valuable lessons about business and sales.
This early interest led him to create videos with friends, eventually posting on platforms like Newgrounds, and later, YouTube. He taught himself video editing and began uploading content around 2007-2008, focusing on tech tutorials and app reviews. By 2009, he launched a YouTube channel called AppFind, reviewing mobile apps and gaining significant traction, generating about $60,000 annually.
Despite receiving a job offer from a Silicon Valley company, Aleric chose to stay in school and grow his own business, Ad Outreach, established in 2016. He focused on YouTube ads for businesses, gradually shifting from app installs to broader business applications.

“I think people are afraid of conflict because they think of it as battle, but it doesn't need to be at all. It’s just people getting along when they care deeply about something. So relying on goodwill and putting in the time and attention really can make such a big difference, and then you build a practice of normalizing disagreement, and it feels okay…”

ABOUT OUR GUEST
Bronwyn Schweigerdt may be the most evocative psychotherapist you’ve ever heard. Instead of fixing peoples’
messes, her goal is to elicit feelings you’re most ashamed to have, such as hatred and betrayal.
She knows that even though feelings are invisible, they don’t evaporate, but store away in our bodies when they’re disowned.
According to Bronwyn, these feelings haunt us and cause mental illness until we externalize them into words with someone who can hear and validate them. She especially loves playing midwife in this way, helping her clients – and now, her podcast listeners – externalize painful feelings once and for all.
She has experienced success in helping people break free of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, even psychosis,
once and for all, by reconnecting them to their anger, and healing their relationship with anger, and with themselves.
Bronwyn has a masters degree in counseling, and another in nutrition. She is a public speaker, author, and licensed psychotherapist.

“There’s so much fear, and what that fear makes people say or do. What would you say or do if you weren’t afraid?”
It is my pleasure to share this week’s episode, which is a beautifully honest and candid conversation between myself and my wonderful guest about how much leadership and entrepreneurship involves being courageous—something that can mean different things.
For my guest this week, courage meant changing her life from the chaos of her youth to establishing a good reputation in the real world. She chose to be dependable and undeniably amazing at what she does; she chose to show up.
At some point, she decided to leave her corporate job because she knew she was meant for something else—something that would be a great fit for her and her purpose.
In this episode, we discuss:
Showing up in life and how it translates to how you treat your job, career, business, or brand.
Business mindset and ethics and how to be a great business leader.
If you find yourself needing to transition (e.g., from corporate to entrepreneurship), how do you do it effectively?
Mentorship—the importance of finding the right mentors in life and how this multiplies the chances of your success and finding your way to your bigger purpose.
And so much more...

His early inspirations including his mom, his most impactful mentors, and how they inspired him to pay it forward by being a mentor as well later in his life
How he was bullied and tormented as a kid, and how he used these experiences to motivate him to succeed in life instead of bringing him down
As a young man, how a misguided sense of success turned him destructive, arrogant, and obnoxious, eventually leading to depression; thankfully realizing in time how he can turn things around for himself and his company
Sense of purpose, and how it helps us form our identity and motivate us to do the things that we choose to do in life
Starting a podcast, how this led to him to meeting more people with a real sense of purpose, and how that changed his trajectory
Projects he is currently working on that aim to address global issues such as human trafficking, and how you can help him on this mission

“As long as you align your energy and action with the very best version of yourself, you’ll attract and bring into your life the things you’ve always wanted.”
I am so happy to be able to talk about the power mindset in this week’s episode, and it’s role in unblocking us and allowing the right energy to flow in - eventually leading to success and happiness. Of course, the road will not always be easy. In fact, a lot of challenges will arise, some that might even make you doubt if you were even destined to have the life you wanted in the first place…
My guest this week has gone through a series of experiences in his life that almost made him stop believing in what he can achieve. But thanks to the power of mindset and the lessons imparted by his mentors, not only was he able to turn things around for himself, but also made it a point to pass on the same wisdom to so many people all around the word and help them find their own calling.

This week's episode is a continuation of last week’s conversation with Imran Ahmed - who has been so generous with his time and his knowledge in sharing his profound life story and the lessons he gathered along the way.
In this 2nd part of the 2-part series called “Avoiding Victim Mentality & Choosing Self-Empowerment”, he begins to take us through the era of his life that eventually “lit him up” as he fondly calls it. It was the time when he really started to work on himself and allow new experiences to transform the way he looked at his life.
As shared in part 1, he had a very challenging and turbulent youth, and his part is marked by a lot of decisions he isn’t necessarily proud of, but ultimately (and as we will find out in part 2), his self-discovery paved the way for embracing new connections and transformative experiences.
Thank you for joining my guest and me from last week’s episode in this week’s episode. Now, let’s dive more into the realm of self-empowerment and the conscious choice and effort to embrace positivity in life…
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Meet Imran Ahmed, Founder of Success Psychology, Breakthrough Experience, Emotional Change Therapy, and The Intervention Academy. He is an award-winning Coach, Trainer, Speaker and Mentor who has been helping individuals and organizations to achieve growth towards their goals and visions for over two decades.
He is a master of NLP and has used his expertise to help countless individuals achieve success in their personal and professional lives. His mission is to influence, educate and empower people to create greater change.
Imran is also a successful business owner. But it wasn't always this way. Imran’s awakening started when he was dealt a tough hand of cards in the early stages of his life. He decided that he had to turn the tide of his own conditions, there came the realization that his current situation would never become his final destination.
Using his whole life's learning, he has enhanced and developed a set of Transformational tools that enrich lives. The work he does today was born from his own pain and insignificance. Imran's mission now is to help others become the Leaders of their Lives by finding the gifts that are buried Inside every human being and being more than they ever believed they could be.

This week's episode is so profound and special, so much so that I thought it needed to be divided into a two-part series. This would not have been possible without the presence of my guest - who was exceptionally candid, open, generous, and wise during our conversation.
As he shares the intricate story of his life journey - the trials of his childhood, the turbulence of his youth, marked by decisions he wasn’t necessarily proud of, and ultimately, the self-discovery that paved the way for embracing new connections and transformative experiences - it is my sincere hope that in the course of his narrative, you will resonate with the shared human experience, and feel seen and heard, much like I did. While our individual experiences may differ, the power of empathy and the realization that we are not alone in this journey allow us to transcend our present challenges.
This first part of our conversation delves into the theme of adversity—how to confront it or, conversely, avoid succumbing to it. It emphasizes finding the internal strength needed to resist a victim mentality– with the intention that this will set the stage for the second part next week, where our guest delves more into the realm of self-empowerment and the conscious choice to embrace positivity in life…

“To be in full leadership, we need to be expressing on all levels the idea of health and wholeness of mind, body, and spirit.”
Leadership effectiveness is intricately tied to the holistic well-being of individuals, emphasizing the harmonious integration of mind, body, and spirit. When these facets are in balance, you’ll be better equipped to manage stress, foster creativity, and cultivate a positive organizational culture.
My guest this week will help you recognize the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit - that it not only enhances individual performance, but also fosters a leadership style that is empathetic, adaptable, and sustainable in the face of evolving demands.

“There’s a balance, and a lot of it just comes down to communication and setting expectations; which are the two largest efficiencies leaders have.”
This week’s guest on The Leaders Lab Podcast didn’t have it easy. He had to go through different experiences in his career - some of which almost made him believe that the industry where he is making a huge impact now was not for him. But he carried on, innovated, stayed open-minded, and looked at the bigger picture.
Today, he joins me on the mic, to talk about the insurance world - one of the industries that is fast becoming more and more digital, and less human. But we go beyond that by also about the skills and the human advantage that you or your organization can use to stay competitive and go above and beyond during a time of artificial intelligence and digital advancements.

A lot of the great leaders I know didn’t come from an easy life, they’ve had to go through stages of transformation and were often underdogs. Our guest his week was no exception to life’s challenges.
But what sets people like him apart are the choices he made along the way, whether he allowed these hardships or disadvantages to make him weak, or whether to use them as his something that would later on push him to be someone who didn’t only chase after his own success, but also made it his mission to pull others up along with him.

ABOUT OUR GUEST
Frank McKinney is a true modern-day Renaissance man who has pushed the limits of success in his every endeavor. His early years were not very promising: upon attending his 4th high school in 4 years (he was asked to leave the first 3), and seven stints in juvenile detention, he earned his high school diploma with a 1.8 GPA. With $50 in his pocket and without the benefit of further education, he left his native Indiana for Florida in search of his life’s highest calling.
Today, Frank’s life is a testament to the power of aspiration to create a completely new reality. As a real estate artist he has created and sold 44 oceanfront mansions on spec with an average price of $14 million.
Frank recently announced he was un-retiring and coming back to create more real estate artistry!
As a philanthro-capitalist, Frank has built 30 self-sustaining villages over the last 21 years in Haiti, providing 13,600+ children and their families with homes, schools, clinics, community centers, churches, renewable food and clean water, and means to support themselves.
A best-selling author, actor, and keynote speaker, Frank has written eight books in seven genres. His newest book; Adversitology: Overcoming Adversity When You’re Hanging on by a Thread, was just released! Frank has starred in four movies, and keynoted before audiences of ten to ten thousand around the world.

“I deeply, deeply care about inclusion. I do believe that the greatest equalizer is actually not education. It’s our human skills. I think every single one of us arrived in this world - whether we had opportunities or not, whether we’re the right skin color, we’re from the right country, whatever it is - having these really unique, incredible combinations of things that make us us, and so many times it’s squashed by the world. But we can allow that kid in Bangladesh or in the US somewhere that doesn’t have the opportunity to see things in a global mindset, to be given access to seeing each other in this context, access to industry experts…”
In this episode, my wonderful guest helps us imagine what it means to have the people science, AI, and technology available today to truly prove and show that it is in fact humans skills and behaviors that predict job performance.
We also dive into how that would look different for each one of us and for each role.
While considering herself having “one foot in fear, and one in courage”, our guest this week also shares her passion to set an example for all women in tech. In her own words, “It's such a gift to be part of something super special that will outlast my lifetime.”
Listen to the full interview and get to know the story of our guest this week, and hopefully it will empower you - as an employee, an employer, a business leader or entrepreneur - to see things just a bit differently moving forward…

“You can’t declare yourself trustworthy. You have to behave yourself into a reputation where your mentor finds you trustworthy because of your track record… because you don’t gossip, you don’t lie, you don’t inflate or conflate facts with your emotions… just some things you could do to earn and keep the trust of a mentor.”
In this episode, we take a very deep dive into mentorship relationships, by first defining what mentoring is versus coaching, and then identifying what makes a great mentor. We also discuss different kinds of mentoring and why it is important to have different mentors in different areas of your life.

In this episode, I hope you take away a lot of beautiful realizations as much as I did talking to this week’s wonderful guest. We get vulnerable and speak openly about what we think it takes to be a better leader based on our own experiences. We talk about leadership, the art of growing up, his book called Reboot which I highly recommend, and a new book coming later this year called “Reunion: Leadership and the Longing to Belong” which he teased was a “powerful book to write” and that he is very proud of it…

“One of the stats we’re most proud of and aligned with our mission as an organization is that our clients have given over 200 million dollars back to charity. It’s great evidence of how generous and charitable entrepreneurs are, and I don’t know that they get enough credit for that… ”
In this episode, although we mainly talk about dealmaking, investment banking, exit planning, and wealth management, we also touch on a topic that not often gets discussed - empowering entrepreneurs.

“A lot of the things we do in our lives are trial and error, and certain moments in life just change certain paths.”
In this episode, we step back to be reminded of what really matters to us in life. As leaders, we sometimes forget why we do things that we do - it could be family, a very personal goal, making the world a better place, among other things. It is very important to take the time to refresh our perspective so we don’t get lost in all the hustle and the daily tasks.
Joining me on the mic to discuss the importance of making time for the things we value is someone who has been through a lot of trials in the past years, which makes him the perfect guest to speak from experience and from the heart about how time is our best currency, and how as leaders who can get inundated with so much responsibility every day we can avoid losing sight of the things that continue to make us grow, be happy, and achieve our real purpose.

“I’d rather be third string on the championship team than the number one player on the team that lost - and the day that I had that pivot of mindset, everything changed. Now I have incredible humans that work alongside me, I get to lean on their expertise, and I get to do what I’m good at which is (1) use my relationship capital to attract incredible human beings and (2) use my entrepreneurial mind to start companies - so I can create the vehicle, and then let them figure out how we get to the moon or to Mars or wherever we’re going…”
In this episode, we take a different approach to leadership - the kind where you realize and accept that you’re not always the best person to lead your company to growth and success - and instead choose to surround yourself with people who are amazing and happy to do the leading, and the tasks that you’re not good at, as you focus on those that you are great at and light you up.
Joining to discuss all of that is someone who has been through quite the journey of trying out different careers, and starting partnerships and companies - not all of them took off, but from these experiences he learned some very valuable lessons that he has applied since, and is now doing so amazingly well not only for himself or his business/es, but also for his family who he adores, and the people he works with.

“If you look back at anything horrible or traumatic you’ve been through in your life, the chances are it’s probably benefited you in some way; as difficult as that is to swallow…”
In this episode, we dive deep into the topic of character development through a unique angle which our guest this week gladly and generously opened up for us. As the founder of a character development organization that uses martial arts to develop character, my amazing companion on the mic this week talks to us about “black belt character” which is basically developing high levels of confidence, conduct, and concentration - and you’ll get a great understanding of that after you listen to the full episode.
We also talk about his personal journey of how martial arts became his escape from bullying as a teen, which unfortunately is very relatable to a lot of people; and his transition from athlete to leader.
Character development is a mixture of two things: daily habits and one-off events - allow this conversation to give more insight into this topic… Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a rating for the show to help us ensure we reach more people and spread these wonderful stories on leadership!

ABOUT OUR GUEST
Richard Newman is the Founder of Body Talk. Over the past 22 years, his team has trained over 120,000 business leaders around the world to improve their communication and impact, including one client who gained over $1 Billion in new business in just one year using the strategies that Richard teaches.
Business leaders all over the world rely on Richard to transform their communication and to speak on the biggest stages. But he had to learn it all from scratch as someone who’s highly-introverted.
Richard has high-functioning autism. He was painfully shy as a child.
Aged 18, Richard started his mission to discover the core communication principles. He went to live in the foothills of the Himalayas with Tibetan monks, who spoke no English. They had to communicate non-verbally to understand each other.
He then worked as a professional actor, studying how to walk, move and speak to increase his impact on an audience. He eventually became a keynote speaker, coach, author and speechwriter, winning the coveted Cicero
Grand Prize for Best Speechwriter of the Year.

“I have done too much work in the dark for you to take what’s mine in the light.”
In this episode, my very special guest and I talk about shifting your identity, what it takes to do that - the uncool, unsexy, unglamorous things - the “dark work”, so to speak, that you should be willing to go through in order to get to the point where you can start living life with great harmony and achieve what you know or should have known you are capable of becoming.
It’s a great time to ask yourself:
Are you aware of what is needed for that identity shift you’ve been longing for?
Are you willing to do what it takes to get there?
My guest and I hope that our conversation will plant a seed, or rather, water that seed you’ve had all along to “make shift happen”.

“A lot of people get blown around by the winds of life - wondering things like how they end up angry or sad, or why they’re happy and cannot seem to point out why. It’s a very interesting subject, but once we become aware of it, it’s very hard to ignore it afterwards…”
In this episode, we dive deep into learning more and understanding how our physicality, our emotions, and how we hear things combine to make us feel the way we feel; and more importantly, what we can do to control them.
Joining me this week is a guest speaker I love to keep inviting back on the show for his expertise on mindset. “Hey there, toy people!”
In this episode, we are reminded that you can indeed chase your passion and make a fulfilling life out of it. We grow up with people leading us to believe that following your passion is overrated. My guest this week, “The Toy Coach”, reminds us that that simply is not the case, that you can in fact create a lucrative career from something you enjoy as long as you stay true to your path.
She and I talk about pursuing dreams - for her in particular, being able to do what she loved as a kid even as now as a grown-up, and on a much bigger scale. We also talk about her journey from working in corporate to starting her own company, and how you too can thrive without having to give up things that make you happy.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Azhelle Wade has been working in the toy industry for over a decade, climbing up and across the ladder, pushing against bias, surviving a cancer scare, breaking through glass ceilings and fighting for the salary she believed she deserved.
Before the age of 30, she made it to Vice President of a toy company. Later, she decided that achieving her dream job wasn't enough - so she sought out to make a bigger impact on the toy industry…
What does this mean in her case? It means that she transformed herself to become “The Toy Coach” - an educator and a source of inspiration for creative inventors and entrepreneurs who think they've got a good idea for a toy or a game, but aren't sure where to start. Her goal is to build a bridge into this notoriously closed off industry, that welcomes newcomers in with open arms.
Listen to the full interview to find out more about her story!
Azhelle is also the host of “Making It In The Toy Industry” podcast.

“We often take our talents for granted and assume that other people have the same set of skills as we do, so we downplay the time, energy, and passion we’ve invested to learn. We assume that everyone knows what we know, and that’s just not the truth…”
In this episode, a perfect topic for our audience - leadership in the most simple yet effective form. We talk about how driven we are with life, and how well we pursue our goals especially for those who are motivated by contribution and impact, despite the norms of society and our immediate environment.
Joining us this week is someone who dared to challenge issues he found at work and in his community to create a version of his life that is better suited for him and the legacy he wants to leave this world. We talk about being self-driven, and how to influence people to become more driven and effective.
To get you pumped, my guest will also share how he built a side hustle that turned out to be a million-dollar business, and how he now leads people to do the same!
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Tony Whatley became known as “The Side Hustle Millionaire” after his book with the same title became a #1 best-seller on Amazon in just 9 hours from the time it was launched. But, this book title isn’t just fiction; it is based on his actual story.
Tony once led a successful corporate career for over 25 years, but that is less interesting than the side-businesses that he created, which generated millions in profit.
As an active entrepreneur himself, he still owns a few businesses. But, his real passion is teaching entrepreneurs how to start, scale, and sell their business, within his podcast and consulting brand 365 Driven.

“You need the light and the dark. You need a bit of resentment, you need a bit of anger, you need a bit of frustration; but what you don’t want to do is live there.”
In this episode, we talk about a very interesting approach to being more - not only in business, not only as a leader, but most importantly in life - through values and rules, realizing your own personal values and rules, knowing how to assess them and apply them every day. Some examples of these values we really dive into are connection, love, contribution, among others…
My guest who joins me this week has been on the show two times before, which is a testament of how effective he is in what he does and apparently, how much my listeners want him back.
My guest opens up about his own way of approaching these rules, how it enriches his personal life, his family, and his career. The willingness of my guests to be this vulnerable is something I always appreciate and I hope it gives you a priceless lesson or two…

“Pain is not something to be feared; it is something to be understood.”
This week, we talk about a topic we often ignore - pain. Because we think that giving pain attention will slow us down from achieving. But this conversation will teach us that pain exists not because we are doing things wrong, but because we are simply out of balance.
To make it more relevant for you, physical pain could be the result of an old injury, hours of sitting behind a desk or the wheel of a car, or simply a postural dysfunction.
All of these can knock your body out of perfect alignment, causing pain, sleeping troubles, and limitations - and slow you down from achieving your life's greatest work.
Join me and my guest as we help you realign your body, and with that your life, so you can be successful with the things you were meant to do.

“Money has nothing to do with whether you are a good person or not. Money only amplifies who you are.”
In this episode, we discuss success and wealth while acknowledging that different people have different definitions for those two things.
My guest openly shares her journey into self-discovery and self-love, and how money played a part in that. More importantly, she shares her message of how we are meant for great things, how we should stop playing small, and last but not least, self-ownership as a form of true influence.
Join us as we also openly explore perspectives on manifestation, the difference of masculine and feminine energies in the workplace, and a topic we love to touch on in the show - finding your happiness in different situations as a leader, yes; but more importantly, as a human being.

Warwick Fairfax was only 26 when, as the fifth-generation heir to the media empire bearing his family name, he led — and lost — a multibillion-dollar public takeover bid. The result? The company founded by his great-great-grandfather slipped from family control after 150 years, leaving him to examine not only his own shortcomings and losses but also his life's principles and the lessons he learned from family members who came before him and some of history's greatest leaders. Ken talks with Warwick about overcoming seemingly insurmountable failure to find purpose and fulfillment in life.

Warwick Fairfax is the Wall Street Journal best-selling author of Crucible Leadership: Embrace Your Trials to Lead a Life of Significance and the founder of Crucible Leadership, a philosophical and practical breakthrough for turning business and personal failures into the fuel for igniting a life of significance. Forbes has hailed him as offering "compelling insights for anyone who would like to wake up feeling inspired by their work but doesn't." He is also the founder and host of the podcast "Beyond The Crucible".
Those insights are rooted not in a checklist of glib to-do's but in his own experience at the epicenter of one of the most spectacular business failures in the history of his home nation of Australia. Fairfax was only 26 when, as the fifth-generation heir to the media empire bearing his family name, he led — and lost — a multibillion-dollar public takeover bid. The result? The company founded by his great-great-grandfather slipped from family control after 150 years, leaving him to examine not only his own shortcomings and losses but also his life's principles and the lessons he learned from family members who came before him and some of history's greatest leaders. By sharing these insights as a leadership adviser, Fairfax enables others to learn from their own crucible experiences and emerge to lead lives rooted in their unique designs.
Fairfax holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is an International Coach Federation (ICF) certified executive coach and an Elder at Bay Area Community Church. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with his wife, Gale. They have three adult children who are in the process of developing their own unique paths to lives of significance.

Mike Sjogren created an Airbnb Empire and has helped many others do the same, but his journey there was not all rainbows and butterflies. Mike battled alcoholism at a young age and dealt with his son having a potentially life-ending condition that defined his faith and set him on a path of independence, financial freedom, and fulfillment.
Michael is the host of the Short Term Rental Secrets Podcast and founder of the Short Term Rental Secrets Mastermind, a training and mastermind program that helps investors launch, automate and scale their short-term rental portfolios. Michael and his wife Krysten founded Occupied, a national short-term rental investment and management company, in 2017, as a vehicle to build passive income so they could stop trading away time from family for a paycheck. That vision came to fruition within 18 months when their short-term rental portfolio replaced their income, and Krysten and Michael left their corporate jobs. They are based out of Boston, MA and currently have a portfolio of 44 short-term rental properties across five states, including two boutique hotels on Boston’s north shore.
