Recently, I created a post called an interesting income source on Hive – Providing Liquidity and there were plenty of interesting questions in the comment section. I explained similar things several times and I thought it might be a good idea to explain the risks related to liquidity pools in a separate post. It's not an easy task and instead of explaining what impermanent loss is, I try to show the effect through some examples.
For that I use a website that allows you to play with numbers and calculate the loss/gain you would make in different situations.

n the recent months and coming weeks, there are many changes implemented in the game and I tried to understand the reasons that forced the team to make these changes. Are they good for the long term evolution of the game or not?
When looking back, the game has evolved quite chaotically. Issues arose and the team needed to implement changes to face it. Most of it was directed towards avoiding bots milking the game. Then bots were banned from modern, brawl and tournaments and many changes that were implemented in the bast, didn't have much sense anymore. The result was a game that was difficult to understand and it was difficult to improve your gameplay.
I see the recent changes as an effort to rebuild from scratch and to build something more organic and sustainable. I think that it may be for the better of the game. Check out the video to understand why...

In the minutes of the last Town Hall a lot of changes to Splinterlands were introduced. I would like to look at one change tht will be implemented on April 2nd 2024. Starting from that date, when burning Gladius cards you won't get DEC but MERIT. This has a rather big impact on the finances of the players I believe. Check out the video to learn more.

I started to play the game in the first weeks when it came out but I didn't insist much at the beginning. About two months ago, I started to play the game in a more serious manner once the quests came out and I realized that so far, I had done everything wrong...
I changed my strategy and I managed to improve my ranking from 4000 to about 2000 and I hope I will improve it even more. Check the video to see what I'm doing differently now.

I made a post recently about free ways to create ai images. In the comment section, people were sharing their experiences and many are struggling to come up with the prompts that are necessary to create the images.
A prompt is an instruction that has to be fed into the ai generator so that it knows what type of image has to be created.
Using these prompts is pretty tricky and there is definitely a learning curve attached to it. I've found a way how you can create images without knowing how to use these prompts.

For my offline job, I was looking for an image online. I was looking on the internet and I couldn't really find what I wanted. Then I had to take into account the copyright aspects and it made things even more complicated. A friend suggested that I should use AI generated images.
Finding websites where you can create images with AII found the idea quite interesting and I started to search the internet for websites that allowed me to create images with AI. I soon realized that most of these websites were actually paid subscriptions and I then started to look for free alternatives.
It took me quite some time to find some sites that allowed to create a certain amount of free images. In the video I present them more in detail.
4 websites where you can create free images with AIPlayground AI
With Playground AI, you can create up to 500 images a day with the free plan. There are some quality limitations if you do more than 50 images. The website also comes with an editor that allows to perform actions like upscaling, flipping and others
Leonardo.io
This website allows you to do very high quality images. You recieve daily 150 credits that allow you to create around 10 – 20 images a day. You have several options for settings and outputs.
Perchange.org
On this website you can create as many images as you want for free. I played with it very much. The quality is not always great but you can do many things and define plenty of art styles. It's a great place to actually test your prompts.
Canva
Canva is the website that I use for all my graphical material. I use it to make video titles, print material and many other things. With Canva you can also create ai based images. With the free account you can create about 50 images, with a pro account around 500 images per month. I don't know exactly whether the credits are refilled at the end of the month or not for the free account.
All four websites allow you to create some images and the results will depend greatly on the prompts that you enter. I've realized that the way to generate a prompt is a science for itself and I will probably create another post about that.

The land phase 1.5 of Splinterlands seems to be launching soon. I don't know exactly when but a lot of things are known already regarding it. It might be time to get ready for it.

It's a very long time since I've made my last video about Splinterlands. The reason I stopped making videos was that I was bored playing the game, because I was just losing against the bots. I bought myself a bot license for my main account and stopped playing at all. The thing is... I missed the game and the fun of making a nice line up. Since bots are now banned in Modern league, I started to play some manual games again. I'm having a lot of fun playing manually and using my new gladius and reward cards...

A couple of days ago, in the context of a liotes mission, we asked our community what is according to them the most important thing that somebody new should do on hive. The post so far has close to 90 comments (half of them being from myself) and we got some really interesting feed-back.

BTC is the oldest and most well-known crypto currency out there. It is famous for its value and its decentralisation. Unfortunately, the block size makes BTC not really usable for e-commerce. Some attempts like the lightening network have tried to provide an answer but it's not really satisfactory.
Hive is actually already offering a solution for this problem. In the video, I show you how you can use Hive to transact BTC and how it would easily be possible to create an e-commerce solution for BTC using Hive.

Whenever we speak about diesel pools I still see many people that have absolutely no idea what these liquidity pools on hive-engine are. That's why I thought it might be a good idea to make a tutorial about why it's a good idea to provide liquidity to diesel pools and how to actually do it.
In the video, I try to explain the different income sources that you have for providing liquidity and also the risk that you take when doing so. I then show you how you can easily provide liquidity to a pool.

I've read today this great post by @michupa where he shares his experience of wanting to get back to silver but unfortunately he doesn't manage to get enough wins because of the powerful bots.
Lately, I've noticed that my win rate in brawls was going down regularly and I learned that it is now even possible to use a kind of „helper“ from these bots services that allows you to use the databases to know which cards to play even in brawls and in tournaments.
I went on a little discovery journey today. I wanted to check whether I was still competitive against bots. So I played 10 games in wild diamond and out of these 10 games, I won exactly zero!
I have a lot of experience playing the game and I'm probably not the worst player but this experience shows me that the bots are becoming unbeatable...

In this tutorial, I will show you how you can calculate the curation APR for the LEO token or any other tribe token with the help of minimal information.
When taking decisions on our journey to accumulate tokens, I believe it's always good to know the return of our different investments. The best way to learn about these returns is to know how to calculate them by yourself...
P.S: Important when calculating the APR is that you multiply your voting mana with your staked tokens. If for example your voting mana is 90% and you have 1000 LEO staked, then you actually upvote with 900 staked LEO. The upvote value will be related to this amount.

While listening to the recording of the last Splinterlands Town Hall, my attention was caught by this project that the team calls Arcade Colony.
I was really excited to hear about it. If I understood it correctly, it would be a gaming platform that the Splinterlands team proposes to any game developer that wants to join web 3. Splinterlands would offer a package to upgrade any game to become a web 3 game. Arcade Colony would be compatible with the unity game engine, one of the most used game engine in the world...

Since I have started to play Splinterlands, I always tried to figure out which cards were the most useful in the game. The problem was often that I had some impressions and I wasn't sure whether these impressions were biased or not.
I've found a website that actually defines this for you. All cards are rated and by filtering, you can figure out which cards would be the most useful for your deck.

I made a post where I was speaking about the DEC squeeze. I had realized that the DEC token had actually taken a deflationary tendency and today I wanted to see whether this is still the case.
What I've found out is pretty interesting. The supply decrease of DEC is still going on at a rate of about 4 million tokens per day. In the video I give some speculations about what this means for the future of DEC and of SPS in the game.

In the crypto world, I always hear the same words being spoken: „before you invest, make sure to do your due diligence“. These are nice words but how do you technically do that?
I always try to start with the information provided in a white paper or a post. These are however only promises and how can you check whether these promises are actually kept?
One way of checking out the legitimacy of a project, especially on hive, is to follow the money. What happens with my investment? Where does the money go?
Before I invest somewhere, I have learned to follow the money by going step by step, transaction by transaction until the money is staked somewhere or it disapears. Also, I try to do the same on the other side. I try to track the money that is given to me and figure out where it came from. Has the token I receive been bought on the market or has it been issued from thin air?
On Hive, we are pretty lucky to have all the necessary tools to figure that out. I use my peakd.com wallet for that. I can check all transaction for hive, hbd and also all transactions for hive-engine tokens. For more details regarding HE tokens, I use the Hive-Engine Explorer that allows me to look at all transactions by an account for a certain currency.
Following the money often allowed me to find things that didn't match or that raised some red flags. It's a good exercise and it can be time consuming but it's definitely worth doing it.

Yesterday, I had an issue with one of my projects and I felt a bit down. I shared this issue with great people that I met on Hive @ph1102 and @mypathtofire. For several hours we brainstormed together and we found plenty of ideas to solve my issue. This triggered a sleepless night for me but I really enjoyed it and I believe I've found a nice solution to my issue.
Hive is more than just voting, curating or commenting. It's a place where you can build relationships with like minded people. Where we can exchange ideas, problems, skills and many other things. There are no borders to annoy us and we are linked through one blockchain and one token. If we start to leverage our brains to build projects or solve problems, I believe we can build even greater things than we have already now on hive.

I have tried to read the Whitepaper for The Secret of Praetoria twice. Once, I managed to read about 75% and the next time about 85%. The problem is that this whitepaper is very long. I can't say that I know everything about it but I think I understand the basic mechanismes.
I had quite a lot of Beta cards for sale on the market. Whitin a couple of days after the publication of this whitepaper, most of my cards were sold. This made me think and I believe that we should keep calm while trying to get ready for Land 1.5.
In the video, I explain why I believe it will be better not to get as much production points per land plot as possible, but to get as cheap as possible production points.

For a couple of seasons I'm struggling with Splinterlands. I have the feeling I have always very strong opponents, my win rate is low and it's especially difficult to climb the ranking.

Since I've started to play Splinterlands in October 2018, there were several occasions when I created new accounts. Once I created one to put all my Gold foil cards in one place. Then I created an account for my son who played about 5 days before I had to take over his account. The fourth account, I don't even remember why I created it. So I've now 4 Splinterlands accounts and I have developed a way to play them all at the same time.
Since the time I can allocate to the game is limited, I'm really doing as many battles as possible in a short laps of time. I ignore the daily focuses and I simply play the game to keep my ECR under 100%. The result is a new manner of playing the game that I would call „Splinterlands Blitz Gaming“. If these rewards collapse in value, what would be the consequences? Would the game survive? Would our investment still be worth something?

I have to say that the return of these liquidity pools is pretty interesting and I wanted to figure out for myself how compounding such APR levels would actually translate. The results are pretty amazing. With the present APR levels you can double or even triple your money in a year if you reinvest your rewards weekly. Check-out the video for more details.

A bit more than a month ago I took a very important decision regarding Splinterlands. I had plenty of summoners at lower levels that I was renting out and I decided to merge them all together to get fully developed summoners. I made a video about it at that time. Today, I have read a post by my friend Zoltan (@ph1102) where he speaks about what many authors feel on hive: „why nobody reads my posts“.
I think it's not easy to stand out on Hive but I believe that a lot of people have the wrong mindset about content creation. They believe that they just need to create a post and get the upvotes. In my opinion this is only half the reality. Every author should invest some of his energy to make his audience feel important. This is paramount to make sure that people come back to their posts and to build lasting relationships on Hive. It's not that complicated because hive gives us all the necessary tools to do so...

Today I saw a post on Torum were I was mentioned regarding Splinterlands rewards cards. As a fact, since I started to play the game a couple of years ago, I have kept all the rewards cards and upgraded them as much as possible.
In the history of the game, some of the most powerful cards were actually reward cards. I'm very happy that I kept these cards. I use them very often in the game and they have become pretty valuable over time.

A couple of months ago, people were complaining that Splinterlands cards were too expensive and that it wasn't possible to be competitive. Now prices of cards came down and people complain because they fear for the value of their investment...
What I would say is that in the coming weeks there will be a great opportunity to build your Splinterlands deck in a very cheap way!
