Meet Faranishah Khan, an aspiring Chef and proud mom who discusses love, marriage, personal sacrifices and the untold narratives of what it truly means to be away from home. Having been in Brussels for 10 years and being married at the age of just 20 years old, has not only given her wisdom but as well as clarity to pursue the things she loves. Never a conformist, Farah has dedicated her life to supporting the ones close to her, sometimes even when her chips are down.

Farah walks us through life not being in Singapore and having to go through what most expats fear the most, the loss of a loved one while being so far away. How did she managed that grief? Through the continued support of her siblings as well as husband who are in her words, her "Kryptonite."

The peak of this episode was her story of being an alumni of CHIJ Katong Convent Girl's School as a regular girl who was given the monicker "Fire-Nisha" by her best friends. She soon realised that the education path was not as straightforward as it should be and even chose a path of the less well travelled.

This episode is a personal favourite simply because you can tell just by listening, the genuineness of Farah and how she can brighten up anyone's day despite all the challenges that she faces. A truly spirited and eloquent individual, Farah is embarking on a culinary fanfare on Youtube to inspire women like Bella, on how to cook with passion.

Quotable quote from the Podcast:

"If a husband treats his mom with respect, he is going to treat you likewise"

This is marks the first of many "Expat Special" series where we interview Singaporeans who are now living abroad. This was truly an episode to remember and a must listen!

After you make a mistake, it’s easy to focus intently on your defects. You feel lost, confused sometimes even angry.

But here’s the thing—some of the most successful people don’t avoid making mistakes. You know what they do instead? They fail forward. Meaning, they take their mistakes, failures and turn them into meaningful success.

So how can you develop this resiliency superpower? For one thing, get your mindset right. Don’t be a victim. Be open to playing an active role in negotiating a new direction for your future.

Ask yourself these questions:

✨if I knew I couldn’t fail I would....

✨if I wasn’t afraid about the opinions of others I would....

✨if I didn’t have to get permission I would...

✨if money were no object I would....

At the end of the day, it’s really only you against you. Don’t dim your light to make it comfortable for others.

Trust me when I say, I have failed more than I have succeeded. You can do this , I believe in you.
