Gaslighting often starts subtly and escalates over time. It can have profound effects on a victim's mental and emotional well-being. It is a form of psychological manipulation that undermine an individual's sense of reality, self-worth, and confidence.

The constant manipulation and self-doubt caused by gaslighting can make it difficult for victims to make decisions. They may fear making the "wrong" choice or doubt their ability to make sound judgments.

If gaslighting continues unchecked, it can lead to long-term psychological effects, including chronic anxiety, depression, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD), and difficulties in forming healthy relationships in the future. If you or someone you know is experiencing gaslighting, seeking support from friends, family, or mental health professionals is crucial to begin the healing process. Sometimes we may feel doubtful and insecure about our abilities and worth, which may cause the need for validation from others. It is okay and normal for other people to validate us sometimes but we can not rely on external sources to validate who we are, how we feel, and what we believe in.

In this episode, I talked about how to validate yourself and ways you can practice self-validation.

I help and empower women to regain their confidence, overcome self-limiting beliefs, recover from trauma and abuse, and rediscover themselves so that they can fulfill God’s purpose for their lives and maximize their full potential.

In this episode, I shared how to challenge and reframe negative self-talk to a positive one.

Having unhelpful thoughts is something we all experience from time to time,  our self-talk can either support or hinder us.

Negative self-talk is any inner dialogue we have with ourselves that may be limiting us from believing in ourselves, in our future, and in our potential.  Unhelpful thoughts can affect our emotions, health, and relationships. Because we believe something to be true, does not necessarily mean it is.

I help and empower women to regain their confidence and self-esteem, heal from trauma, abuse, and rediscover themselves so they can fulfill their purpose and maximize their full potential.

In this episode, I continued with the series on SELF-TALK.  I shared on NEGATIVE SELF-TALK.

Negative self-talk is something that most of us experience from time to time. It is that inner voice that criticizes us, makes us doubt ourselves, and tell us we are not good enough.

Your negative self-talk can have a huge impact on your life and self-esteem. It can influence how you feel and behave, and result in unnecessary stress, anxiety, and depression.

So ask yourself, what is my inner critic telling me? Is my self-talk building me up or tearing me down?

There is always something to be grateful for. In this episode, I shared on being thankful for what we have, for the little things and big moments in life. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for experience more positive emotions, sleep better, feel more alive,  express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. Practicing gratitude regularly can contribute to a sense of well-being.

When people talk about or think of domestic abuse and family violence, it's often about how much it hurts the adult victim. But what they may not realize is that children also experience domestic violence/abuse when they witness or are exposed to it. This may affect their physical, emotional, social, and mental wellbeing. It can affect their developmental growth and the choices they make in life.

My guest speaker on this episode is Naomi Adedoyin. Naomi is a survivor of domestic abuse, she witnessed and also experienced domestic abuse as a child. She shared the impact of domestic violence/abuse growing up, the choices she made as an adult, and also in her relationships.

She is a single mom with three amazing kids. She is passionate about transforming lives and empowering women. She is also deeply concerned about women and redefining society's perception of women and the gender-based obstacles that diverse women experience.
Through programs in her foundation (Enough Woman Foundation), she empowers abused and vulnerable women to rewrite their stories and live meaningful lives.

Hello and welcome to the 5th episode of the Restored Hope Podcast.

It can be quite difficult to know how to support a friend or loved one who is experiencing domestic abuse.
In this episode, I shared different ways you can support victims and survivors of domestic abuse. What you should say and shouldn’t say to someone experiencing domestic abuse. I would say one of the reasons why some women stay in an abusive relationship is due to lack of support from friends and family or not knowing how to support the victim, what to say, what not to say.
