The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (‘MeitY’) has launched Incentive Schemes for setting up semiconductor and display fabrication facilities in India. Further, MeitY has also introduced two other Schemes – for compound semiconductors, Assembly Testing Marking, and Packaging and Semiconductor Design in India. The Production Linked Incentive Schemes have been approved by the Government of India under the aegis of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to encourage domestic manufacturing, re-jig the global supply chain and make India a manufacturing hub of the world. The PLI Scheme for Automobile and Auto Component Industry has recently been notified by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and the last date for making an application under the Scheme is 9th January 2022.
