Flip The Switch is a podcast were we focus on what happens after people turn the switch off from their high performing workdays and choose to focus on themself. I have always been someone who chooses to reflect and strive to find out more about myself, almost to a fault, partly because I have always believed in the value of self improvement. The goal of this podcast is to uncover some of the similarities that people do or follow, in order to continue to be successful and present in their high achieving lives.
Take a look at the matchup outcomes and give an update on what to expect with the manager meeting.
Reviewing week 2 outcomes, interview a GM, and review Median rankings of what could be.
Snap shot of the week 1 rankings, an interview with a league GM, and insight into Median record outline.
In this episode, we sit down with Bre Gotham, a local artist! Bre talks about how she went from an inspiring artist to gaining an overnight following after posting one of her drawings inspired by Into The Spider-Verse movie. We have a great discussion about what she experienced and what she continues to do in order to stay on top of her skills. Bre shares that she is always trying new things so that her art continues to evolve and stay relevant. It wasn't an overnight success though. Bre has been drawing her whole life and teaching herself the skills in order to be the artist she is today. Really, the overnight success was due to all her hard work and dedication until it met the opportunity that she was presented. Bre doesn't take anything she has experienced for granted and is grateful for the opportunities that she has received and the support people have shown her.
Bre shares some incredible perspective and insight into some of the challenges she has had to work through as an artist, as well as how she gets into the zone when she is about to draw. One thing I found fascinating is that she also has a routine on how to get out of the frame of mind she is in for drawing, as her mind is always working on her drawings if she allows it.
I enjoyed learning all about her processes, perspective, and how she continues to be motivated to achieve more and move towards her goal. I believe her perspective is one that can be applicable no matter the industry that you find yourself in.
Follow her on all her platforms to keep up with all her incredible art! You can also support her through her Patreon account where you get to see behind the scene drawings and other great insights.

In this episode, I decided to have a personal discussion about a few topics that have been on my mind and heart this week. I had every opportunity to choose to put off a week in the podcast and not record this one. However, through some of the topics that I cover in this episode, I decided that it was best for me to follow through and record this one for everyone to take a listen. Throughout this episode I talk about mindset and perspective, developing a personal mission statement and what that has done for me, and some personal challenges that I face, and how I hope through being vulnerable about them help someone fight through the muck.
I hope you enjoy this episode as I take a break from interviewing and do some self-reflection as I hit the record button.
Thank you for listening and I look forward to getting back into the normal interview routine next week!
In this episode, we sit down with Ivan, owner of Las Brasas Mexican Grill. During this episode, we dive into Ivan's past and how he first got interested in cooking, and ultimately what led him to open a food truck with his in-laws. We discuss some of the hardships that they faced early on where they either had little to no business some days, to not having a place to call home for their food truck. During this time it was hard to gain traction and find a following for his business to start taking off. Between hard work, determination, and the support from some key individuals around the area, Ivan and his family were able to work at not only building a name for themselves and the truck but find a place to call home at the Prairie Pavilion.
A couple of years later their food truck is busier than ever and one of the places that friends and family recommend to anyone that will listen. Ivan gives us some insight into not only being a business owner, but some of the challenges he faced earlier on from learning how to prep and prepare for each day, but also how to handle catering as he quickly found out they are their own animal and different from simply making and serving food at an event.
Towards the end of the episode, we talk about what it means to Ivan to take a step back from the truck and invest intentional time into his family and how in the long run, it has actually helped him and the business find more success. Ivan is excited for their truck to grow and they are looking forward to opening a second location soon. Whether you are a business owner, cook, or someone that is fascinated by the food truck business, I believe you will find some value in this episode. Ivan has an awesome perspective on how to find success by cultivated a relationship with his customers and how he has found fulfillment in those over time.

Erin sits down and gives us an insight into her past and how she became a teacher, but it wasn’t a straight line. Erin went from not knowing what she wanted to do out of high school, traveling to Germany, then coming back to the states, and becoming a teacher.
We briefly relive our glory days at Starbucks and some fun memories we have about the experience. We both are also convinced we could still sling drinks at a moment's notice.
Then we start to discover that Erin’s journey to being an entrepreneur and full-on business owner started when she was young and sold all sorts of items as early as 7th grade.
You can tell that Erin lights up when she dives into her journey about how she started her own Dry Shampoo company and sold homemade products.
We talk about how one of the bigger hurdles that Erin has had to overcome has been internally, rather than anything externally. We both discuss how sometimes going too fast creates unnecessary stress.
Erin’s story is unique, but I know many people will connect with it at certain points. I can’t encourage you enough to take a listen and see what stands out to you.

In this episode, we sit down with one of my best friends, Travis Ewert. He talks about what drove him to be a teacher, he discusses his gratefulness of looping with his class during a pandemic, as well as some innovative ideas he brings into the classroom for his students each year.
We talk about his inspiration for the type of teacher he wants to be. He even gives a powerful example of a moral discussion he had with his class and the type of foundational practices that he hopes to instill in his students for their future. We state countless times Travis is the type of teacher we both wish we had throughout our years in school.
He brings up a practice he does yearly, that he has found to be a powerful tool in his teaching habits. A practice he got from the book Teach Like A Pirate.
We have a discussion on his philosophy about punishment in his classroom and how he utilizes the situation to build relationships.
Towards the end, we discuss how Travis flips the switch and how he found his tried making sure he takes time to unwind during his journey.
Enjoy how we stumble over some words throughout the conversation while inquiring about Travis's goals and aspirations. We even touch on some of the lofty goals I have with the podcast.
Again, I thank you for taking the time to listen to these interviews.
In this episode, we sit down with my better half, a partner in crime, and best friend Kelsey Lopez. We open up discussing her self-discovered mission statement and how it has weaved its way throughout Kelsey's past, present, and will be a part of her future. Then we dive into her decision of becoming a dental hygienist and EVERYTHING that went into that. From her experience on a mission trip to the interview process of being accepted into Pacific University.
Towards the end of the episode, we dive into what Kelsey would classify as a high achiever, and why she is in fact one (Even though she said no originally). Additionally what she does to flip the switch after a long workday. This episode is special to me not only because I’m interviewing my wife, but because of the insight she shared with us on what drivers her and how she chooses to be a better person every day. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed doing it.

In the second episode of Flip The Switch, I sit down with a good friend of mine, Tyler Hanson. Tyler is an entrepreneur at heart and has his hands in some amazing businesses. He currently is leading marketing development for a inc 5000 company, JJ Safety LLC as well as launching his own marketing company, PPC Foundry. Tyler has recently begun his journey of self-improvement and self-reflection. Through this journey, he has made realizations from how to be a better leader to, and most importantly, how to be a better man. Tyler discusses everything from what he believes has always pushed him to do better, but also what he has recently learned and put into practice. Tyler also touches on how it is important to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and physiologically in order to perform at your best. His Flip The Switch has become even more important recently and he is aware of the value it brings.
Tyler has a great perspective to offer when it comes to being an entrepreneur and how to achieve the level of success that he has sought out and always wanted to achieve. Through our discussion, we touch on imposter syndrome and how that can creep up on even the highest achievers.
Lastly, you will notice a bird that had quite a lot to say and add to the conversion. I had a great time with this one and I hope you do too.

In the first episode of Flip The Switch, we sit down with Hannah Snider. Hannah is a local photographer who has worked hard her whole life, oftentimes going at 100 mph in order to achieve her goals. From traveling the world starting at the age of 18 to being debt-free by her 23rd birthday. Hannah has gone from hating photography in high school to running a very successful photography business, known as Hanomaly.
The first 28 minutes is an awkward introduction conversation between Hannah and myself as we both become comfortable with the fact that our conversation is being recorded, I even open up the episode by introducing her by her maiden name #fail. After that, we dive into what drives her to continue achieving a higher standard in her business, to discussing how she flips the switch when she gets home after a long photo session and "relaxes" with her husband and son.
I asked Hannah to be a part of the first episode because I knew she would embrace the awkwardness and still give some incredible insight into what helped her strive to the heights of her business. She admits that she has pivoted or made mistakes, but that hasn't stopped her from overcoming those and still getting to where she is at today.
If you want to see her work or give her a follow, be sure to check her out!

Here is an introduction to the goal and purpose of this podcast. During these podcasts, the first half will be a casual conversation and allow us to get to know the interviewee. As we continue into the conversation, I’ll aim to uncover the secrets, habits, and intentional steps people have taken to achieve their own success. My goal is to share this so that you may be able to piece together your own habits for success.
