Not finishing strong should not be an option. However, I have failed to do this many times in my life.

I was leading a cross country race in middle school and got lazy at the finish line and got passed (shout out charlie).

I earned the starting spot on 2 different basketball and soccer teams and then lost it because I got comfortable.

I've done this in relationships & even in my career in certain areas.

This episode will share some personal stories about not finishing strong as well as how I'm learning to overcome this.

I’ve spent the 1st 4 years of my career in a sales. As I transition to customer success, I want to share my top x sales tips:

  1. Be interested over interesting

  2. If your prospect has ever been on a podcast and you don’t google to check before the call, you are being lazy.

  3. If they have written a book and you do not buy it… that’s weak.

  4. After clarifying next steps on a call, end it relationally.

  5. RELEVANT follow up.

  6. Ask one more question.

  7. You can’t work smarter if you’re not smart yet.

  8. Don’t let the highs be too high or the lows be too low.

  9. Be a goldfish.

  10. Ruthlessly disqualify people. You know deep down if there is actually a chance of they will buy.

  11. Don’t burn bridges… people come back around.

12.hand written note

12.If you’re 22 and you don’t know what you want to do when you grow up… try to start with something that has a high chance of reaching you transferable skills.

Want to know the path that will 100% give you transferable skills?? Sales. Why?

Even if you’re not “in sales,” you’re in sales.

Everything is sales🤝

You don't need to wait to be promoted until you can practice being a leader.

In this episode, you will learn the 2 most (by far) important qualities that you need to be a leader who is worth following.

Thousands of people were surveyed about what is most important to them about how their boss leads them. These 2 qualities were a major outlier.

Don't miss this wisdom from my good friend, Tim Spiker!

Christian Huff is a follower of Christ, a husband to Sadie Robertson Huff, a father of 2, a mentor to Many, & the most JACKED man in the state of Louisiana.

In 2021, he started a podcast called 4:8 men.

The podcast is based on 1 Timothy 4:8, which reads "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

In this episode, we talk a lot about physical and spiritual training. We particularly discuss how young men these days are being influenced in the gym. While it's great to be physically fit, it can easily turn into an idolization of yourself. Christian gives some great advice on how to focus on God instead of yourself in life and while in the gym.

We also discuss his new 4:8 Man Challenge, which is a 30 day devo and workout program.

Don't miss this one!

What affects one affects the other.”I work with Executives and Professionals like you every day who are looking to take their professional career to the next level with a foundation of physical health. People tell me they’re willing to do whatever it takes to climb the ladder in their companies. Yet, most of them are overweight, chronically tired, and eat whatever they can get their hands on in a time crunch. So my question then is always “are your REALLY willing to do whatever it takes?”If you prioritize time in your day to look after your physical body, your brain function is exponentially improved. This will lead to better energy levels throughout the day, a sharper mind, and as a result, YOU performing better in your role! If you are serious about gaining an edge in the corporate space, physical health should be in your top 5 priorities. At HigherUp Wellness, I teach you exactly how to build that time into your busy corporate schedule. Small actions, huge payoffs. As a first time manager, I struggled deeply with feeling confident. I knew it and my team knew it.I didn't know who I was and I felt completely paralyzed.Have you felt this way?The dread, fear, anxiety, frustration and indecision. Feeling inadequate at every turn. What would it mean for you to overcome these challenges? As a Leadership & Life Coach I know how important it is to be secure in your identity. If you are rooted this is the first step to growing...think about plants, without roots they won't survive. Imagine leading your meetings in your true skin. Not trying to be someone you're not but accepting you for you. You would feel confident and your team would increased faith in your and your leadership ability.Watering your roots allows you to increase your self awareness - learning to lead yourself so that you can lead your team.Imagine having insight into each team member and best ways to manage/communicate with them individually and as a group. What value would demystifying your teams behaviors be worth to you?Looking to discover more about who you are? Let’s hop on a call to get to now each other. You’ll leave wanting to dig more into you - authenticity is a result of self awareness and identity. Discovering your identity will help you be more secure in your skin, leading to greater impact in your leadership and multiplying leaders. You cannot lead others if you’re unable to lead yourself.Identity can help you harness your leadership to develop leaders not followers.

Here is a little bit about Andrew Hartman:

At 27, I lost my sense of smell due to stress at work.

I was a knowledge worker, responsible for my own schedule, and I was stressed out of my mind.Waking up in cold sweats was the norm, often from project management nightmares.I couldn't keep my calendar or to-do list straight, and every day felt like a battle, culminating in me unable to smell anything or even taste food. I realized the red warning lights of mental breakdown were flashing all around me, and something had to change. This was rock bottom for me, starting me on a 15 year journey to find a way to restore my mental health while still making progress on strategic priorities.

And guess what: it worked. Every week, my Time Boss (Aka me) plans out my week for me, ensuring I run at the highest sustainable pace, making massive progress on my priorities, all the while maintaining peace.

And there's hope for you too.

The Time Boss Model is a distilled version of 15 years of learning. I've ran the experiments, made the mistakes, learned what works and what doesn't. It's my joy and privilege to now share that with others.

I lead every Time Boss Group, and I do all the 1x1 coaching, because I believe in this work deeply, and I get the deepest joy from helping people make peaceful progress in their life.

I believe that each of us has a part to play. Each of us has a unique contribution that the world needs. Time Boss helps us prioritize that unique contribution, while maintaining our peace and mental health. It empowers us to find our highest sustainable pace, and make as much impact as possible, for as long as possible.

Jack has been through a lot of hardship as a young professional, but the way that he continues to honor and praise God is something that I was drawn to. Read his bio below:

I thought I was going to be a priest, but then God told me no
I was crushed.
All I wanted was to give my life entirely to Him.
How could I still do that and live in the world?
I discovered the universal call to Holiness
No, I don’t hear confessions or celebrate mass or celebrate weddings nor funerals or baptisms.
Instead, God has called me to a different path.
To still be devoted to him in daily prayer.
To still glorify Him in all of my work
To still serve Him and everyone I meet
And lay my life down for my wife and Him.
My mission is still clear I am called to heaven.
This is not my home but while I am here I will work with Christ, and bring others to Him
I will help others grow in detachment, generosity, and prudence in their finances
I will serve with my time, talent, and treasure
I will raise a family devoted to Christ
I will build a business devoted to Christ
I will build a nonprofit devoted to Christ
I will build a life devoted to Christ
________
If you want to join me… schedule a meeting
There is a beautiful plan for your life.
And money can be a huge blessing in your life and others lives.
We just need to learn the balance of detachment, generosity, and prudence.
Let’s be saints!

Stephen recently had me on his podcast and now I am having him on mine. Here is his bio:

For 14 years, I was a top performer working with C-Suites of Fortune 500 companies on strategy and tech.
But I became dissatisfied.
In 2018, I decided I wanted to bet on myself and build a business but I had a wife, one kid at the time and a mortgage.
I started a local company with a partner while working my 9-5 and grew it to 6-figures and profitability our first year.
Then the pandemic and twin girls happened in 2020 when I thought I was ready to leave corporate.
My plan changed but my Objective did not.
In 2022, I successfully exited the company I started and quit my 9-5 job.
I started coaching hi-earners my trademarked process to eliminate distractions and build wealth.
Now, my mission is to create a community of contrarian thinkers who don’t want to work till they are 70, enjoy a few years of retirement in their old age and die.
Everyone needs a strategy for their life so they don’t wind up with regrets and can live a life of significance, purpose and fun.
What I help people do comes down to 4 things:
1) Define what is meaningful and significant to them
2) Eliminate time-sucks and money-wasters
3) Reallocate freed up time and money to achieve the goals that matter most
4) Accelerate timelines to attain your Objectives
I do it through my trademarked 7-step process called the Lifestyle Strategy Playbook™.
It was developed from my years with globally-renowned strategic thinkers and behavioral psychologists focused on adapting and managing change along with in-depth financial planning experience.

If you don’t feel like you are performing at your best and are looking to take you life to the next level, the solution isn’t as complicated as you may think. Let’s see how…
Make small changes over time that build a life of intention and purpose.
This seems difficult because most of us are stuck in the modern digital era where everything must happen quickly and right away. That we must hustle constantly…

Life is about physical and mental well-being.
This is where you NEED to focus your time and attention.
Changing your perspective / mindset, learning to reshape your thoughts / actions, and creating consistent small habits that will build momentum is how you LEVEL UP!
My name is Bryan Sagray, and I’m a High Performance Personal Coach for people ready to transform their life to live EVERY single day with intention AND purpose!

Tim Schurrer was the right hand to Donald Miller for almost a decade as COO of StoryBrand. During his time working at StoryBrand, as well as at TOMS Shoes and at Apple under Steve Jobs, he discovered a secret society of people who taught him a new way to define success that's counter to what culture is selling. For most people, success is within their grasp-they've just been looking for it in all the wrong places. Tim is on a mission to give them the map because everyone deserves a life and career they love. Tim lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Katie, and their two kids.

In this episode, Tim shares some gold about how to embody this mindset. The earlier we can learn how to think like this, the better off we will be!

Tyler Meckes has been a LinkedIn friend of mine for a while. He's got a podcast of his own that I've had the pleasure of being a guest on. It was about time that I had him on here! Here is his bio below:

Following Graduate Studies in Exercise Science, I accidentally fell into the Sales and Marketing world. The transition from college into the business world has taught me that diverse skill development, and the ability to transfer those skills into your current job is far more important than the subject you studied in college.
Across my selling career, I have always been particularly interested in very strong alignment between Sales and Marketing, and have found ways to incorporate Partnerships and Marketing to build my territory, and strategically drive revenue through creative, customer-centric means.
As a Full-Cycle Account Manager, I leveraged the concept of “Content-Led Partnerships” to build relationships and create brand-awareness through Video Content, and Podcasts. While building out the Revenue Expansion and Go-To-Market functions at Start-Ups ranging from Seed to Series B, I learned how crucial an effective Marketing strategy can be in building pipeline, and reaching customers at-scale.
Now, I am able to combine all of my previous experience to help customers design frictionless Sales, Marketing, and RevOps strategies in HubSpot as a Growth Strategist at Impulse Creative.

As an entrepreneur, former executive, husband, and father of three, Cory Carlson understands the pressures working parents face. He is passionate about helping business leaders win at home and work.

Twenty years in corporate America gave Cory amazing opportunities as he worked his way up to the executive level. But he also saw brokenness: work without purpose, burnout, lack of focus, strained marriages, and absentee parents. Business leaders especially were often not living life to the fullest.

When Cory discovered coaching, it helped him become a better leader, husband, and father. So he left his corporate career to help other leaders win at work and at home. Cory does this through executive coaching, speaking, and writing.

Currently, Cory lives in Cincinnati with his awesome wife and three amazing children.

Cory has a Civil Engineer degree from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Rockhurst University.

His first book released in June 2019 titled, Win at Home First, and is an inspirational guide for work-life balance. His book was Amazon's #1 New Release in 3 Categories and listed in FORBES as ‘7 Books Everyone On Your Team Should Read’.

Cory just released his second book, Rise and Go. This book is a resource to help leaders get back up quicker after getting knocked down from the challenges of leadership and life.

He hosts the leadership podcast, Win at Home First, a Top 1.5% global podcast per ListenNotes.

Bob is a child of God in Nashville, Tennessee. As an entrepreneur, podcast host, and former professional athlete, he's been blessed to live a multi-faceted life. As a professional baseball player, he traveled the nation and performed in stadiums of over 15,000 people. As an author, speaker, and podcast host, he's worked with thought-leaders, bestselling authors, and world-class musicians, including people like Rory Vaden, Rachel Cruze, Fred Stoeker, and Jason Gray. His podcast (That Singles’ Show) is hosted by KCBI Christian Radio in Dallas, and my work has been featured on various other nationally syndicated radio outlets like WAY-FM and THE FISH. He has an inborn desire for helping people discover their passion for God, and that was the reason he wrote his first book, Our Hearts’ Desire.
Before he wrote Our Hearts’ Desire, he played minor league baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays and the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in dozens of states and multiple countries throughout his career, and chased what many would call a childhood dream. But I can honestly say that God wasn’t his focus. At that point in his life, the crowds seemed more powerful and the relationships more tangible. He could feel the impact those things had on him, but he couldn’t say the same about God.

You WILL NOT REGRET buying his book Our Hearts' Desire!

There is something that you might not know about me. Fitness and nutrition is by far my biggest hobby. I grew up running track and playing soccer so I always ran a good bit. But when I got to college, I hung up the running shoes and hit the gym. While I really enjoyed lifting in college, I didn't have a plan. Everything was so sporadic. I gained some muscle and got stronger because I went from no lifting to somewhat consistent lifting.

But it wasn't until 2020 that everything changed. I finally decided to believe all of the people that said that nutrition is equally (if not more) important than lifting in order to hit your fitness goals.

Learning about fitness and nutrition has truly changed my life, and my goal is to help you change yours. With a few simple things to understand as well as a few mindset tweaks, you can do more than you could ever imagine with your fitness goals.

On this podcast, I talk about...

-Being consistently good over occasionally great

-Fitness myths

-How to fuel your body by eating well

-How to build muscle and burn fat

P.S. This podcast is about learning to lead yourself so that you can one day lead others well. My personal belief is that a huge part of leading yourself is learning how to take care of your body. The more you take care of your body, the better you will show up for the people who need you.

If you've followed me long enough, you know that this episode title is not totally accurate. Just because you don't have a leadership title DOES NOT mean that you are not a leader. In fact, there are many great leaders that don't even have leadership titles.

My guest today, Mallory Messer Price, is a perfect example of that.

Mallory went to Samford University with me and excelled at a very high level. In this episode, we will talk about...

-The impact that sports and her parents had on her growing up

-How she invested in herself in the early days of college, which led to tons of leadership opportunities

-What she learned from serving as the president of her sorority (200+ girls & a multi-million dollar budget)

-How she is soaking up as much as she can in the early years of her career so that she can continue to grow into the best leader she can be.
