I'm Nate Klemp. I'm here to offer guided meditations, tips, science-based insights, and mindfulness practices designed to help you navigate the hard stuff in life (stress, anxiety, and anger) and experience more of the good stuff (happiness, wellbeing, and presence).
Each week, I'll be posting podcasts on mindfulness-based insights and guided meditation. You'll learn age-old techniques for training your mind and becoming more present in all of life.
Why am I doing this? As a former philosophy professor, mindfulness author, and founding partner at Mindful Magazine, I LOVE teaching and sharing these ideas. There's just one problem: I no longer have a classroom to do it in. So I decided to create my own virtual classroom where we can explore these powerful practices and insights together.
If you're up for exploring meditation in real life with me, be sure to subscribe so that you never miss a podcast. You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel -- "Nate Klemp" -- for the videos.
Stress = small mind. Anxiety = small mind. Happiness, contentment, and equanimity = big mind. We all know this to be true. We all know that something special happens when our perspective on the world gets bigger. We see possibilities instead of problems. We feel more relaxed, at ease, and available to the present moment. In this practice, we explore one of the most powerful mindfulness techniques for opening the size of the mind: the practice of open awareness.
What’s the best way to start your day? Two things. First, seeing the sun rise. Second, if you can’t do the first, mindfulness and meditation practice. In this video, you get to experience both, an exquisite sunrise and a morning guided meditation practice designed to help you kickstart your day.
Feeling distracted? Aren’t we all? The continuous state of stress and distraction seems to be the problem of our time. So we need these short practices to remind ourselves to focus and concentrate on the task at hand. In this practice, we use the sensation of breath as our anchor to cultivating a more focused, energized, and concentrated mind. In just five minutes, you will feel this powerful shift.
How can you cultivate a calm mind? In this practice, we explore a guided meditation designed to unwind the stress in your nervous system and allow you to open up to a calmer, more peaceful, state of mind. The practice begins with a science-based breathing technique that will help you quickly relax your mind and nervous system. We then take this journey of relaxation one step further, dropping into a state of wide open awareness.
How can we learn to surrender and let go in a world that has gone mad? In this practice, we use the metaphor of a river to bring the mind into a deep state of surrender and letting go. This skill is essential for navigating life in the modern age. We are good at struggling to hold onto control. We are often not as good at letting go and accepting things as they are. Use this practice to make the shift to surrender and letting go.
Feeling stressed? Use these powerful meditation techniques for managing stress and anxiety. In this video, you will learn about the two primary forms of mindfulness practice for managing stress. The first form of practice is all about change. These are breathing techniques we can use to relax the nervous system so that we can respond more skillfully to stress. The second form of practice is all about acceptance. With these tools, the goal isn’t to change anything. Instead, the goal is to train our ability to allow and except whatever happens, exactly as it is.
How long should you meditate for each day? This is one of the most frequently asked questions about mindfulness practice. In this video, we look at two ways to answer this question. The first is finding your unique minimum effective dose for meditation. The second is an answer based on cutting edge research in the field of neuroscience. The goal is to give you the tools and insights you need to determine your perfect minimum effective dose of meditation. And please subscribe to the podcast. Is that ringing in your ears or tinnitus driving you crazy? This video offers a powerful 10 minute guided meditation to help you begin to change your relationship to tinnitus. The big idea is to approach instead of withdrawing from the sound. This meditation will help you do just that by bringing your full attention to the nonjudgemental awareness of the sound of ringing. The power of this practice is that it will allow you to begin to habituate to the sound, which, as of right now, is the only scientifically validated way to cure tinnitus.
