Before the day unfolds,
before the noise begins,
pause.

Just for a moment —
give yourself the space to arrive.

Let your breath settle naturally.
No forcing.
In… and out.
Even. Quiet. Reliable.
Like the ticking of a clock in a still room.

Begin to gather your attention.
Not sharply — but gently.
Let the mind return from wherever it drifted.
Come back to your center.
Back to this moment.

Today will ask for your attention.
So right now, you train it.
Like adjusting a lens.
Like opening a window.
Clear. Simple.
Direct.

Think of one thing — just one —
that matters most today.
Something that deserves your focus.
Hold it lightly in your awareness.
Let everything else fall to the background.

Take one more breath — slow and grounded.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Your spine tall.
You are awake.
You are clear.
You are ready.

Welcome.
Let’s begin with the breath.
In through the nose…
and out through the mouth.

There’s nothing you need to change.
No perfect way to breathe.
Just notice the natural rhythm…
as air flows in…
and air flows out.

Feel the rise of your chest,
the soft fall of your belly.
Breathing in...
Breathing out…
like gentle waves on the shore.

Let the breath become your focus.
Each inhale is a quiet arrival.
Each exhale — a letting go.
With every breath, your body settles deeper.

If thoughts come, that's okay.
Just notice them… and return to the breath.
The steady, soothing rhythm of your breath.
Here. Now.

Let the breath slow.
Let it soften.
Almost like you’re breathing through the body itself.
The breath moves... and you follow.

With each breath, feel yourself drifting —
not trying to sleep,
just being breathed, gently, into rest. Breathe in...
Breathe out...
Let go.
And sleep.

Some mornings begin with clarity.
Others feel heavy before they even start.
Both are part of being human.
This meditation is not to fix you,
but to sit beside you — with kindness.

Take a breath.
Let it arrive as it is —
tight or open, short or full.
There’s no right way to breathe here.
Just this inhale. Just this exhale.

If there’s a part of you that feels tired…
disappointed…
uncertain…
bring your attention there, gently.
Not to change it — just to notice.

Can you speak to yourself, now,
as you would to a dear friend?
Not with pressure.
Not with perfection.
Just a simple message:
“I’m doing the best I can today.”

Let that be enough.
No more effort than that.
Just breathe…
and be kind to yourself
in this beginning.

Welcome.
You're here now — and you're safe.
Feel the breath enter gently...
and leave even more softly.

The day is done.
The doors are closed.
The outside world has quieted.
And this space — your space —
is a sanctuary of rest.

Let your body sink into the surface beneath you.
Feel the support — strong and steady.
You are being held.
You are allowed to let go.

Imagine a soft, golden light surrounding your body.
It’s gentle, warm, and protective.
This light knows how to comfort you.
It asks for nothing.
It simply wraps around you like a shield of peace.

With each breath, you draw in safety.
With each exhale, you release tension.
There is nothing to fear here.
You are watched over.

If your thoughts wander,
let them drift — knowing they can’t harm you.
This is your time to rest.
To soften.
To trust.

In this space, you are protected.
You are grounded.
You are free to fall —
not down, but inward... into the comfort of sleep.

Let go now.
You are safe.
You are safe.
You are safe.

Take a moment.
Not to plan, not to prepare —
just to be here, in this small space between sleep and movement.

Let your body stretch slightly if it wants to.
Or remain still.
There’s no rush.
There is time.

The day ahead is unknown.
And that’s a gift.
You haven’t lived it yet —
it’s unwritten, wide open, full of possibility.

Let that idea settle:
Anything might happen today.
Not everything will be perfect —
but something good is possible.
Something unexpected.
Something kind.

Feel that possibility stir in you.
It doesn’t need to be loud.
Just a quiet, steady sense that life can surprise you…
in soft, bright ways.

Let this feeling be your lens today.
Not forced cheer, not empty hope —
but a simple openness
to the idea that good things are still ahead.

Breathe into that space.
Carry it with you now.
The day is yours —
and it just might be beautiful.

Welcome.
Take a gentle breath in through your nose...
and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Allow your eyes to close now,
and begin to feel the quiet gathering around you.
Like a soft blanket of night,
the stillness is arriving.

There’s no place to be.
No voice to answer.
No expectation to meet.
Let the outer world fade,
as you come into this peaceful pause.

Notice your breath.
The gentle rise and fall...
as if the air itself is rocking you.
There is nothing to control —
just the rhythm of being.

Beneath the thoughts, beneath the stories,
there is a deeper silence.
Still. Steady. Unchanging.
Can you feel it?

Let yourself rest here,
in this quiet space within.
Not trying to sleep —
just resting in stillness.
Sleep will find you.

Imagine the body as a calm lake.
No ripples. No disturbance.
Only quiet.
Only peace.

Let the music carry you now.
Let the stillness carry you deeper.
You are safe.
You are home.

Before the day begins,
take a few moments just for you.
No rushing. No urgency.
Simply arrive.

Notice your breath.
Not to change it, just to feel it.
The inhale — cool, clear, and fresh.
The exhale — long, grounding, steady.

Begin to draw in energy with every inhale.
Feel it light up your chest.
Wake up the muscles.
Reawaken the mind.
Let each breath stir a little more life through the body.

Picture the sun rising behind your eyes.
Golden. Expansive.
It spreads through your shoulders, your spine,
down your legs, into your fingertips.
You are charging up — gently, fully.

If there’s any resistance or fatigue,
just notice it… and breathe right through.
This moment is all you need to begin.
Nothing else is required.
Your body knows how to rise.

Take one deep, awake breath in —
and release it fully.
Now, open your eyes when you’re ready.
You’ve already gathered the energy you need.
Let today begin.

Welcome.

Take a slow breath in... and gently let it go.
Let your body begin to settle. Let your eyes become heavy.

You are here now — in a quiet space.
There is nothing to do. Nothing to fix.
Just this moment. Just this breath.

Begin to notice where your body touches the bed.
The gentle weight of your limbs.
The warmth of the blankets around you.
Let your body grow heavier with every exhale.

Imagine the day melting away.
Each breath out is a soft release.
Let go of thoughts. Let go of tasks.
Let go of the need to be anything at all.

You are safe. You are supported.
The night holds you gently.
There is nothing to worry about. Not now.
Not here.
Let yourself drift — like a leaf on still water.
Floating. Surrendering.

If a thought comes, smile at it... and let it pass.
Return to the breath.
Soft. Slow. Spacious.

Your body knows how to rest.
Your breath knows how to guide you home.
You are letting go now.

Sleep is coming.
You are already halfway there.
Sweet dreams.

Good morning.
Welcome to a new day.
Let’s begin by arriving — right here, right now.
Take a slow breath in…
and let it go gently.

As your body begins to wake,
notice the soft light around you…
the warmth of your bed…
and the miracle of simply being alive this morning.

Bring to mind one thing — just one —
that you’re grateful for.
It could be small.
A kind word.
A soft pillow.
The breath in your lungs.
Let it come naturally.

Now, notice how that gratitude feels.
Where do you sense it in your body?
Does it have a temperature? A shape?
Let it grow… gently.
Let it spread across your chest, your face, your breath.

This feeling — this quiet appreciation —
can guide you today.
You don’t need to rush.
You don’t need to chase.
You’ve already begun the day with something beautiful.

Take one last deep breath in…
and breathe out slowly.
Gently open your eyes.
Bring this gratitude with you.
Into whatever comes next.

Hello friends,

This meditation was inspired from a conversation I had with a close friend when she was telling me that her boundaries were overstepped and she felt she needed some help in building a stronger auric field so that she wouldn't feel so vulnerable in the real world. This meditation will help build that strong energetic bubble, so that you can walk around feeling more poised and assured through life. Also - with consistent practice, you will give off a "vibe" of "don't f*ck with me" and as a result help keep your boundaries in check.

Enjoy the meditation!

With love,

Steph

Hi friend! This simple breathwork couples a simple arm movement with the breath. It was inspired by guru Mark Whitwell.

"Try inhaling a strong, smooth ujjayi breath as you raise your arms and look up at your hands, keeping the shoulders relaxed. Exhale an even breath and bring the arms down again. After the first breath, try another. The first two breaths may be difficult, but the third comes sweetly. Inhale and receive God. Pause and be with God. Exhale and surrender to God. Pause after exhaling. You are surrendered. When you consciously participate in your own breath, you are connecting directly to That which is breathing you — and beating your heart and all the rest.

Like sex, breath is a natural function of life that we cannot suppress without damage. The same way that you love to dance, love to love, learn to love to breathe. Breathe to feel your intimacy with your partner and with yourself. Breathe to feel how you love and are loved, heal and are healed. Breathe to embrace the opposites in your body and in your life, and feel the current of all life run through you." - Mark Whitwell

Enjoy this meditation.

With love,

Steph

This week, I speak to Nikki Muller is a Swiss-Filipina, Third Culture Kid. The FLY Entertainment Artist landed her first regional TV job when she was just 15 years old, hosting MTV@Mbassy. At 20 she was nominated as “Best Entertainment Presenter”at the Asian Television Awards while interning with Diane Sawyer for ABC News in New York City. She’s covered tennis and motor sports on Fox Sports Asia, talked food science on National Geographic and moderated discussions ranging from sustainability, inclusivity in the workplace and the future of tech.

While working at the United Nations Headquarters, Nikki’s interest in organizational leadership and cultural competence was first sparked. Nikki now focuses her area of expertise on the Third Culture Kid (TCK) experience and the unique lessons that come from having lived a highly mobile and multi-cultural childhood. Nikki, and many TCKs like her, are acclimatised to disruption from an early age and seek out the opportunities that accompany change.

As a trained journalist, Nikki’s research on identity, belonging and managing transitions is extremely relevant to today’s most significant workplace challenges. We’re seeing organisations prioritise diversity, equity and inclusion as they face remarkable changes within their own companies across all sectors. Nikki’s keynotes share small gearshifts that can make a big difference in reinvigorating collaborative teams amidst uncertainty. Her keynotes are brought to life through her own personal stories and interwoven with the latest science around the power of positive transitions and the tools to cultivate a culture of belonging. Having spent her formative years navigating copious change and grappling with a search for roots and community, Nikki has found a way to take the lessons of her childhood and make them relevant to today’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.

Episode Highlights:

  • Life as the new Mrs. Nikki Muller
  • Deciding on next moves as a TCK
  • The need for restlessness, the anticipation for change
  • Being acclimated to discomfort as a TCK
  • The relationship to taking risks as a TCK
  • The loss and grief that comes from a move
  • What happens in our limbic system when experiencing culture shock

This week I speak to the Founder and Managing Director of Riviera Ozone Nicky André previously worked in the Pharmaceutical industry. It was at this point, she decided Pharma was not the only health option available.

In 2017 and 2018 she suffered 2 strokes; the first whilst 8 months pregnant (but went on to have a healthy girl), however Nicky was left with acute hypertension and associated complications.

Her desire to find complimentary therapies to aid her health, amplified and finally in late 2017 she discovered ozone and PEMF (pulse electromagnetic field) therapies.

In only one 30-minute session her blood pressure normalised and with weekly sessions, she was able to stop taking her medication (with her Cardiologists agreement) and has seen her health go from strength to strength.

In late 2023 Nicky decided to make a move to Singapore where the Ministry of Health invited her to bring ozone into the country for the first time. Riviera Ozone Singapore has been incorporated and subsequently launched in May 2024.

All listeners to the podcast get 50% off their FIRST VISIT to Riviera Ozone in Singapore! Just quote the Listening Well Podcast to receive the benefit!

This week I introduce a breathing exercise made popular by Dr. Andrew Huberman.

This is a breathwork practice I usually start my yoga practice, as this not only helps my students feel centered and settled at the start of practice, but also by allowing them to open and expand their lungs at the start of class.

Taking two inhales and one long exhale reduces CO2 levels, slows your heart rate, and leaves you feeling calmer, less tense, and more focused.

Enjoy this short breathwork, as I know it will make your day much better!

Stephanie

This week, I share my thoughts and reflections on the deeper meanings behind the popular Netflix show, Eric.

Set in 1980s New York, the thriller series brings to screen many harsher realities of the period it reflects.Eric wants to say something about systemic racism, police brutality, the unhoused, 1980s homophobia, mental illness, and parenting, among other things

There are so many ways to interpret the show - but I'll focus on the one that stood out to me and really my quest to emotional health.

One of my favourite lines from the show:

"Eric is a monster, yes, Eric is that which we fear true. Eric is the shadow that lurks behind us all or Lies under the bed. But he is also, YOU, and you, and you, and all of us. He is the very best and very worst of all of us. He is the monster that walks with us side by side, he's the monster that every child wants when they are lost. And need to be found."

The real monsters are not under the bed, they are within each and every one of us. Are they your friend, foe, or stranger?

Who is YOUR "Eric"?

This intermediate meditation involves visualising a bright white light that resides at the base of the skull, right at the nape of the neck. This is where your brain meets the spine, and the part of the brain that resides here (medulla oblongata) carries multiple important functional centers. It dedects sensation, regulates our hearbeat and so forth.

We start the meditation by finding presence, to detect the areas of tightness in the body, and we send the white light to these places. Like this healing white light that floods the areas of our body that are filled with tension.

Enjoy your meditation!

Steph

Anxiety lives in our chest, between our brows, and in our jawline. By focusing our attention on these areas in our body, we can allow the breath to sooth those places.

Enjoy the meditation :)

In every relationship, there are three entities to consider. There is yourself, your partner, and the relationship as a whole.

This conversation was so enlightening with Dr. Oberdan, as we explored the importance of getting to know one's Self, and how that extrapolates into the health of a relationship with another. Sharing your life with someone is a constant dance, and as continuously evolving creatures we always have to give and take, push and pull, and do so effectively with the help of effective communication. Easier said than done, of course! But as Dr. O so eloquently articulates, getting to know one's Self is first and foremost the most important thing.

Dr Oberdan Marianetti is a UK-trained psychologist with a US doctorate in Clinical Sexology and combines over two decades of international experience. First as an in-house psychologist for financial institutions where he was the Global Head of the Learning and Organisational Development team at the peak of his career and then as an independent professional.Having successfully transitioned in and out of the corporate world twice, he is well-versed in navigating and understanding the challenges of modern life from both ends of the spectrum.

In 2015, Dr Marianetti pursued his calling and opened his first clinic in Singapore to serve the local community, focusing on relationship and sexuality challenges.

Dr Marianetti’s trailblazing spirit extends beyond his field of work. Continually driven by a thirst for knowledge and innovation, he remains on a perpetual quest for new theories, approaches, and techniques, all aimed at finding more impactful ways to assist his clients in rediscovering their inner power and purpose.

To find out more about Dr. O's retreats, VISIT THIS LINK!

Episode Highlights:

  • Dr. O’s explanation of the Self and the importance of getting to know yourself
  • The 3 Core Types of Self
  • Getting to know your own dashboard
  • How to know when you’re veering off path and how to better listen to the alerts/signs that come from within
  • How conditioning prohibits us from connecting to the Self
  • The importance of connection as a predictor of success, longevity, health etc.
  • The three entities in a relationship (me, you, us)
  • The equation: Familiar = Safe and how this equation shows up in our relationships
  • Having awareness of your own triggers/patterns, and being curious of your partner's
  • What are the barriers to couples that are "stuck" in their marriage/relationship
  • Should couples stay together just for the kids?
  • The importance of course correcting when couples are in conflict

"Wise mind" is a concept often used in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a type of psychotherapy developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan. It refers to a state of mind where an individual integrates both emotional and rational thinking processes in order to lead to better decision-making and emotional regulation. In DBT, wise mind is considered the optimal mental state for making decisions and coping with life's challenges, and through my DBT journey and learning and integrating more of wise mind in my interactions, it has completely transformed my life in more ways than one.

The idea behind wise mind is that there are three primary states of mind: emotional mind, rational mind, and wise mind. Emotional mind is dominated by emotions, while rational mind is dominated by logical thinking. Wise mind is the balance between the two, where emotions are acknowledged and considered alongside rational thought.

Don't get me wrong I don't always get it right. I often get overwhelmed by certain choices and decisions and it is then that I feel my emotion mind come in. But like with everything, it's a journey. My goals are to make decisions that are both logical and emotionally healthy, and it all starts with a little mindfulness, baby.

In this episode, I reflect on how can we access our BEING mind in the midst of a DOING world?

Upon recording this episode, I am in the depths of the alps, in a valley called Roseg, just outside of the bougie town of St. Moritz. My holiday mode is in full activation, and I can feel my body and mind in a very quiet, serene state of rest. I am far from the bustling city of Singapore, I am away from the friendship orbs and home responsibilities, I am away from the sheer buzz I can feel from my fellow neighbors. The complete change of environment has put in me in a state of BEING which I can feel so intimately.

It's like I’ve taken a back seat in life, where this time and space has allowed me to relish on the little miracles Life has to offer. I can find my breath with greater ease, and more often. The attitude of gratitude becomes more apparent. A stark contrast from the constant swirl of energy and the need to fill in moments of down time that I experience in Singapore. I often wonder why simply doing nothing proves to be such a challenge in the city, not to mention the perception that if you aren’t doing anything, you are wasting your time and thus aren’t moving efficiently on the hamster wheel.

As I feel my nervous system "smoothen" out, it has got me reflecting on what it means to be in BEING state of mind vs a DOING state of mind. I am reflecting on the ways I live in both extremes, and why it is that we can’t find this middle ground where there is a healthy balance of simply BEING, and thus so tied into the moment, but also to operate in a healthy state of DOING where we can support ourselves financially and to keep that drive and fire in our bellies burning.

Have you reacted to a trigger out of an assumption?

It is important to take the opportunity to step back, as the observer, and sort through what we are noticing, rather than getting caught up in and carried away by unchecked thoughts, without realising that we may be consumed by them. This is when we become prone to reacting from emotions rather than responding to the facts of the situation. We end up experiencing these really intense emotions and have unnecessary suffering. Suffering is not necessary.

I find that one of the outcomes of working on your emotional maturity, is being able to examine whether our emotional reaction FITS THE FACTS of the situation we are in. How many times have you reacted to what someone said because of a situation and you become completely engrossed in that emotion. You have justified the ways that you are right for feeling a certain way when really, it might have been stemmed from a fear, or an unearthed trauma, or simply a trigger embedded deep into your subconscious. It happens!

But, one of the biggest lessons and takeaways on this journey of emotional regulation, and really on my mental health, is actually training myself to take the time to slow down, and check the facts of the situation before I react. To RESPOND to the facts of the situation instead of REACTING to the emotions that I flood my system.

I learned this tool from the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy course I have been doing for the past couple of months, and it's proven to be soooo effective!

I do hope you enjoy this episode!

This episode was a deep reflection on my lifestyle, as a result of a conversation with a friend. She asked, is it possible to be in the "wellness space" when you like to go out, stay out late at night, dance, and not live completely "green"?

I thought about what being "well" meant to be, and came to the conclusion that it's all about balance. About tuning in and doing what is right for your body, mind, and spirit.Yes, it will take some discipline, yes it will require you to say "NO" to opportunities/events. But this doesn't mean you have to give up going to a party, or having a 3rd glass of wine.

I am curious, what does wellness mean to you? Reach out to be with your thoughts!

Love,

Steph

This week, I recap the Netflix series "Living to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones." I was absolutely thrilled to watch this series as I feel it was so in line with the ethos of this podcast. The show was hosted and created by author, researcher, and explorer Dan Buettner, who is best known for his exploration of Blue Zones.

The Blue Zones are specific regions around the world where people have a notably higher life expectancy and a lower incidence of age-related diseases. These areas include regions in Italy, Japan, Greece, Costa Rica, and the United States. Buettner's research aims to uncover the lifestyle and cultural factors that contribute to the longevity of individuals in these regions.

Dan Buettner's work has contributed to a better understanding of how lifestyle and environmental factors can impact human longevity and well-being. His research has encouraged individuals and communities to make positive changes in their habits and environments to lead healthier, longer lives.

We've all heard about the importance of "staying grounded" amidst the storm. But what we may not fully understand, is that it takes a real sense of effort to embody this sense of grounding when you're about to do a presentation. And to whatever capacity, we all have to present to someone or a group of people at some stage or another.

So this shorty is to remind you to come out of your head, and rest down into your body. I have shared many episodes on mindfulness techniques, breathing exercises, and vocal warm ups (Public Speaking Pt 1 & Pt 2) in previous episodes - so this episode is to really remind you to get out of your head, and spend time connecting with your body so that the confidence you seek can emerge from the inside out.

Enjoy this episode!

This week, I have a beautiful artist on the Pod.

Carmen Ceniga Prado uses her work as a medium to reconnect with the internal body and its cycles of subtle shapeshifting. Through abstract painting and carved wooden sculptures, her works grapple with the invisible but potent pulses of vitality that move through and around us. Using the body as a starting point, the pieces are a reflection of the range of emotional states or embodied sensations, such as darkness, clarity, anxiety as well as the moments in between.

Carmen started her studies in Fine Arts at Pratt Institute in New York in 2015 (supported by their International Merit Scholarship), before finishing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Wimbledon College of Arts at the University of the Arts London in 2018. Recent notable shows include Rationale for Fables (Singapore, 2023), New Makers at Atta Gallery (Bangkok, 2023), Entre Aguas at Aldama Fabre Gallery (Bilbao, 2022), and At Dusk, We Tread the Earth at starch (Singapore, 2022).

Episode highlights:

  • Art as a means of embodiment of internal body experiences
  • Life as an endless spiral, and what that means for Carmen
  • Carmen’s shift from physical practice to her mindfulness journey, and how she relays her internal observation through her art-making
  • Experiences as abstract
  • The impact of AI on modern day art
  • Art therapy and what it’s all about

Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I am a recovering approval addict.

We all seek external validation to affirm our sense of purpose and self worth. It's a primal instinct. We crave approval by our peers, our seniors, our partner. Our desire to feel belonging is so ingrained that we will bend over backwards and say yes to situations that intuitively have us screaming no. Sometimes, it's easier to say yes to things we disagree on than face the possibility of rejection!

But the more we dishonour ourselves and our innate knowing, we may start to live and act in ways that are inauthentic.

In this episode, I talk about what approval addiction is, signs that you may be an approval addict, and spend the last minutes reading an article written by Lori Deschene, founder of the blog site Tiny Buddha.

So huddle in close, and enjoy this episode!

This week, I speak to Helen Rozario on her experience as a chronic alcoholic and how she overcame the disease and her steps to recovery. She is now 10 years sober, and as she so openly describes, it was not an easy journey. She still doesn't know if it was the mental illness or alcoholism that came first is still to be discovered and understood.

Helen's journey to recovery is what sparked Nirvana Mind, a Mindfulness-Based ecosystem dedicated to supporting and providing the community with practical science and evidence based offerings through programs, talks, workshops, retreats, products and consulting.

Helen is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher in training with University of California San Diego’s Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness and serves as Chief Mindfulness Officer at Nirvana Mind.

This week's episode is inspired by one of my favourite shows, Ted Lasso.

If you have Apple+ you most likely have seen this award winning comedy-drama series - with its embedded life messages and obscure movie references. It's a show that lifts the spirit while also addressing pertinent issues around mental and emotional well-being.

I rewatched the episode where Rupert (the antagonist of the show) challenges Ted to a game of darts, and much to Ruperts surprise, Ted proves to be a more worthy opponent than he let off. Rupert did not ask fruitful questions that yielded open-ended answers, which deprived Rupert of information and and only perpetuated his pride and hubris towards Ted. Let's just say that Rupert was humbled almost instantly after Ted's little monologue on what it means to be curious, not judgemental.

I hope you enjoy this little reflection, and that you feel inspired to ask better questions, to become a bit more curious, and to wane the judgemental person that lives you.

I was thrilled to have one of my friends Eric open wholeheartedly about his experience working with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He is in fact my neighbour, and my newfound mental health buddy. It is with him that we discuss all things Cluster B Personality Disorders, and I had to have him on this podcast to share this story.

With over 17 years of risk management experience in banking, insurance and private equity, Eric is a seasoned risk manager who understands client needs for growth as well as he does portfolio management and distressed asset management. He currently works for Standard Chartered.

In parallel to his day job, Eric has made a long mental wellbeing journey; he has been working as a volunteer mindfulness counsellor in Changi Prison for nearly 12 years, and has in the past years expanded his activities to coaching and mentoring, both inside the bank and externally.

His main driver for these activities is his own journey of recovering from complex post-traumatic stress disorder or cPTSD. He is paying forward the guidance that he received from his therapists and support groups, through his pro bono mental wellbeing work and he started writing a book about his life journey.

His background puts Eric in a unique position of combining insight in and empathy with the
intricate interaction of mind, body and emotion, with the capacity to offer safe space through a coaching platform.

We get organised this week, folks!

I was stoked to have a quick chat with Dana, a specialist in the well-known Konmari Method and is also Feng Shui practitioner.

A mother to four little ones living in a cramped space in Singapore, Dana had to get organised and thus focused all of her attention towards getting certified in getting organised! She believes that by adding a little mindfulness and asking good questions when it comes to the thousands of household items you have in your home, these benefits will ripple out into your everyday life, and you'll be able to see the changes not just in the aesthetics and "feel" of your home, but also in your own personal life.

I learned that the Konmari Method is just another mindfulness practice. And it has made me be honest and real with myself when I ask that famous question: "Does this spark joy?"

Have you ever found yourself immersed in your self-deprecating thoughts? Your inner critic speaks so loudly it overshadows all your unique strengths and attributes that you share with the world.

I’ve been fascinated with my shadow side lately, the part of myself that makes me feel disconnected from others and most importantly, myself.

I have been listening to many Jungian podcasts and audiobooks and thought I would give you a brief overview on the concept of the shadow self, where it stems from, and how to befriend this side so that you can reach your full potential as a unique beautiful human being. Carl Jung's work has helped me immensely in overcoming my own self-sabotaging behaviours, and has helped me bring all that is stuck in the subconscious into the light.

I am not a psychologist nor a therapist but instead am coming to you practically as a chick who is on her own healing path. I hope you can obtain a nugget or two of wisdom that will inspire you to acknowledge your own shadow side, and befriend them so as to be reminded of the light within you.

Have you found yourself ruminating in self-deprecating thoughts? What is your inner critic telling you about your own beliefs?

Our inner critic is one that is loud, stubborn, and often self-imposed. We all think negatively about ourselves at some point, and this can breed a lurking shadow side that festers beneath the surface.

In this episode, I nerd out in Carl Jung's perspective of our subconsious, the shadow side that lurks beneath. What is it? How is it formed? And what can we LEARN from it, to become a more integrated, complete person. The shadow can teach us so much, if we are brave enough to face it head on.

I hope you enjoy this episode!

Nikki Muller is a Swiss-Filipina Presenter, LIVE events host and Third Culture Advocate.

At 20 she was nominated as “Best Entertainment Presenter” at the Asian Television Awards. She’s covered tennis and motor sports on Fox Sports Asia, talked food science on National Geographic and cycled 6 countries along the Mekong Delta for Channel News Asia. Nikki adores the theater and was a recent Straights Times Life! “Best Actress” nominee for Pangdemonium’s one-woman production Girls and Boys.

Nikki has since focused her area of study on the Third Culture Kid experience and the unique gifts that come from having lived a highly mobile and multi-cultural childhood. Nikki’s research on Third Culture Kids (TCKs) through the lens of identity, culture competence and resilience has led her to see the immense value and impact that they bring to workplace dynamics and organizational leadership. For TCKs, globalization is in their DNA. Global experience builds cultural awareness, a broader world-view, inspires flexibility and open-mindedness, and develops highly impactful global leaders.

Nikki’s research interest is to help other TCKs become more aware of the instrumental
opportunities they’ve been given and to encourage them to leverage these superpowers within their teams and in positions of leadership.

I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with fellow TCK gal pal, Nikki!

Sufen is an Advanced Certified BodyTalk Practitioner and runs the a BodyTalk clinic in Singapore, Release. After receiving a seemingly "irreversible" diagnosis of Graves Disease, Sufen wanted to explore alternative therapies before resulting to the cocktail of medications that were prescribed to her following the diagnosis.

Instinctively, she knew that there was more to be explored in the way of holistic treatment and about a month into her illness, a friend introduced her to BodyTalk. It only took one session for her to feel significant improvement in her body and see changes in the symptoms she had been experiencing. With regular BodyTalk sessions, her overall health condition began to transform and the progress she saw in herself was validated by monthly blood test results and consultations with an endocrinologist. To the amazement of medical professionals, she made a complete recovery within 9 months and the disease has never returned!

BodyTalk System is a holistic therapy grounded in the belief that living organisms have the capability to heal themselves more effectively than any technology used today, combines elements of both Eastern and Western medicine to facilitate personal healing and growth.

By addressing the entire person rather than one specific issue, BodyTalk provides a “whole-healthcare” system that promotes emotional, physical and physiological well-being. who practice BodyTalk use a number of techniques, all of which are non-invasive, to help those in treatment tap into the body’s natural system of healing.

Ahh loneliness. It is said to be a killer is it not? But recently I've been reflecting on the idea of being "alone but not lonely." That instead of feeling "alone," and feeling sorry for myself, or brewing in my own stuff... that I should use this time, this moment of "loneliness" and instead be thankful for the opportunity to be in solitude.

Many people seek out solitude, whether for a few hours or many days. Periods of solitude can help clear the mind or, conversely, focus it. Loneliness is a different state of mind. It is associated with sadness, and being cut off from others. People can feel just as lonely in a crowd as they can on their own. But loneliness is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s natural to feel lonely at times, and even people who seem to have friends and family all around them can feel alone. The key, perhaps, is to not let that feeling take control: Loneliness doesn’t have to last forever, and nor should it.

"Loneliness is only an opportunity to cut adrift and find yourself." - Bruce Lee

How do you spend your moments of loneliness?

This week, I'm going to share with you some very accessible ways where you can soothe those nerves that keep tension in the body, and the chaos stirred in the mind. These methods are one that really allow the body to become tuned, like an instrument, and is less focused on the "logical" ways of trying to calm  yourself. Of course, there are some amazing cognitive behavioural therapies that you can do to make sense of what's happening in your reality, but this episode will be focused mainly on more subtle ways that you can soothe those nerves, calm the body, so that you can see more clearly into the mind. This includes visualisations, affirmations, and mudras to name a few.

Enjoy the episode!

Ahhhh relationships. They are one of the most difficult things to navigate through in life, don't you think? We all come with our individuality, our history and belief systems, and are expected to create harmony and hopefully a "happily ever after scenario." But being in a relationship really acts as a mirror, and can make you see the not so attractive aspects of yourself you try to forget or neglect.

This episode is more of a rambling of the lessons I've learned in my own experience in my relationships, and it is most definitely still an ongoing journey. I’ll be drawing on the works of renowned psychologist John Gottman who has illustrated so clearly the four missteps of relationship breakdown. His work has influenced my perceptions on how to navigate through my own romantic relationships.

Take a listen and maybe you'll find some tools in here to support you through the conflict you'll experience in your own relationships!

This week, I thought I'd share with you a bit on my journey to Colombia, where I spent two weeks over the New Year on retreat in a small rural jungle town near the city of Pereira. I was on a spiritual retreat and I thought I'd share with you a little on my healing journey where I was introduced and supported by indigenous ways of healing.

I was reminded on the importance of turning to Nature for council, to honour those moments of silence in her presence to inquire about questions you may have in life. While the answers may not be obvious at first, taking the time to rest in Nature sure does provide more clarity and direction.

Colombia, I love you. And I thank you for the diamond you left in my heart. For helping me reset my mind and body and to really love myself again. I will keep your spirit with me alive and well as we embark on a brand new year.

Till next time, aho!

"Authentic yoga is about having the personal means to actually participate in the reality of life in body, breath and relationship. These means are easily learned and applied without any struggle." - Mark Whitwell

Mark Whitwell has worked as one of the OG yoga teachers around the world for the last 45 years and is the author of four books on the topic of yoga.

I am so grateful to have caught Mark on a brief layover in Singapore, where our conversation really became a healing vessel for me during a particularly difficult time. He reminds me that I am the cosmos, and that I am ultimately enough. His authentic approach to yoga stems from his teachings under the "Father of Yoga" T. Krishnamacharya, and his son TKV Desikachar, of which he helped write a book called The Heart of Yoga.

I was going through a big change during the recording of this episode and became quite emotional in some parts. I am grateful for Mark for offering a safe container to hold my vulnerability.

Mark’s teachings clarify the profound passion and relevance of ancient wisdom to contemporary life. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.

This week, I share about the 4th Perfect Virtue of Buddhism - Equanimity.

We've made it, guys! In this episode I unpack a definition of equanimity that I found quite comprehensive and that illustrates the essence of equanimity nicely.

"Equanimity is neither a thought nor an emotion, it is rather the steady conscious realization of reality's transience. It is the ground for wisdom and freedom and the protector of compassion and love. While some may think of equanimity as dry neutrality or cool aloofness, mature equanimity produces a radiance and warmth of being. The Buddha described a mind filled with equanimity as "abundant, exalted, immeasurable, without hostility and without ill-will.”

If this definition confuses you, don't worry. It confused me too! Listen to the full episode to find out more about what it means to be equanimous.

This week, I share about the 3rd Perfect Virtue of Buddhism - Happiness & Joy.

Ah, the pursuit of happiness. A virtue that has set the foundation for the billion dollar self-help industry as it tries to help the majority of us improve the level of happiness and contentment in our lives.

It seems as though we’re all striving for happiness, and sometimes, no matter how much we want it, it still feels hard to come by. But Like with any new habit you wish to install, it has to be practiced, even on the days where you feel blue. Happiness is something that needs to be cultivated, a word I use quite often, and to be nurtured when we do achieve some level of contentment in our lives.

Have a listen, and let me know your thoughts! When you wake up in a funk, what choices do you make to switch gears and instill a little happiness in your life?

This week, I share about the 2nd Perfect Virtue of Buddhism - Compassion.

If I were to sum up an attitude I’ve tried to embody this year, it would be compassion. And in particular, compassion towards one self, which I find has a rippling effect with regards to feeling compassion towards others.

"If compassion doesn't include yourself, it is incomplete" - Jack Kornfield

As a chick on her own spiritual path towards happiness and peace, I always felt like there was some level of self love that I embodied. But I started to notice some tell tale signs that maybe I needed to cultivate a little more compassion in my life. I noticed that the moments where I was reacting with such emotional intensity were the moments where I need to practice a little more self compassion. They are wildly interconnected.

I hope you enjoy this episode and learn a few ways that you can practice a little compassion in your own life.

Over the next four weeks, I'll be sharing with you each of the perfect virtues as it pertains to the Buddhist Philosophy. The first perfect virtue being "Loving-Kindness".

These virtues are some of the core teachings that the Buddha shared during his life, and really are the mind states that are practiced by all enlightened beings. When properly put into practice, they create an atmosphere of ease in the mind, and also guide us like a North Star to do the right actions in life and to live in a way that is morally sound. They are removers of tension, and can really allow for peace to be felt both internally and also during times of social conflict. I find that they are wonderful tools to explore when you wish to heal the wounded inner child that we all know and try to love.

The four perfect virtues or divine abodes are: Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Happiness, and Equanimity.

This week, I speak about the First Noble Truth from the Buddhist tradition, the idea of pain and suffering in our lives. Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing more on some Buddhist philosophies that can be applied to the modern day person. Having just finished a two-year mindfulness meditation training course that was premised around the Buddhist philosophy, I find that many of the Buddha's teachings are invaluable. And while they are difficult to embody fully without practice, a brief awareness of its philosophies can help you live a life that is filled with more harmony, peace, and understanding. It ain't an easy journey, but the Buddha's Way is a path I will continue to follow and refine in my own life, and I hope you find value in it too!

She is a founding member of Untam3d, a space dedicated to women in tech. I think my favourite part of the conversation however, was learning about the personal development that ensued during her travels. How she is training herself to operate from a place of love and joy rather than fear and anxiety, and how to strengthen that Witness that resides in her.

The theme for this week is "Ayerveda 101".

This week, I speak to Vasanthi Pillay, President of the Ayurveda Association of Singapore. When I first moved to Singapore a decade ago, I promptly enrolled in an ayurveda 101 course that propelled my studies in yoga and meditation. Next week, I will be sharing with you on my experience at my panchakarma retreat, but before you take a listen I thought it'd be helpful for you to understand the basic principles of Ayurveda, one of the oldest holistic healing systems recorded.

I feel like everyone should understand even only slightly the principles of Ayurveda, if only to gain a better understanding of your biological constitution, and also how you can monitor your lifestyle so that you can live your healthiest life, and ultimately prevent disease.

We had a wonderfully engaging chat, and even though I would consider myself well versed in the concepts of Ayurveda, my understanding for it deepened greatly as a result of my conversation with Vasanthi. There may be some words or phrases that may have you scratching your head at times, but not to worry. Just pause the episode, and look up these words and concepts on Google if you want to learn more.

Thank you so much for being my guest on the Listening Well Podcast, Vasanthi! Enjoy the episode!

This week, I talk about the healing power of nature. Nature has always been a refuge for me, and there is literally nothing else that makes me feel as amazing and refreshed than when I am completely submerged within Mother Nature's organic burrow.
