Before Bill Barton became a real estate investor, he had a W-2 job doing sales for a tech company. Bill’s interest in investing started when a coworker introduced him to the world of real estate investing.
After a stalled start, ten years later, Bill joined the DFW Real Estate Investing Club and started going every Sunday to learn about real estate investing. There, he gained as much knowledge as he could without being hands on and actually owning real estate.
Now, Bill mainly deals in rental properties, and he owns his own property management company for his properties.
In this episode, he shares his start, why he chose multifamily properties, owner financing, crazy and memorable stories, investor burnout, and his advice for new investors.

Misty and I's days are completely different, but the common denominator between our days is food. We always make time to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together.
My day is more regimented and scheduled out, while Misty's is more about putting out fires when they arise.
Bill Barnett started out as an investment banker in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. Getting divorced twice in one month changed the trajectory of his life from investment banking to real estate investor and author.
Bill Barnett is the best selling author of Are You Dumb Enough to Be Rich?, a book that helped guide Misty and I into our real estate investing journey. He started out rehabbing houses before getting invited to speak, where he found his true passion: teaching real estate.
