In today's episode I want to share with you how you can be active and doing everything you right yet still not losing any weight.

There are two main reasons as to why you may not be losing weight even though you are working out on a regular basis and even getting extra steps and extra walks in:

  1. You are doing the same thing everyday and it's building muscle memory like a habit and your body doesn't have to work as hard to do that activity anymore; therefore it is not expending here as much energy
  2. You may not eating enough for the amount of energy you are actually spending doing those activities

Action Steps:

  1. Take the next couple days to change up one of your regular daily habits like how you get dressed or brush your teeth

  2. On the first day pay attention to the order in which you do the activity

  3. On the second day try changing that order and see how it makes your body feel

  4. Take a look at your fitness routine and nutrition

  5. Do you need to make changes to your workout routine or your meal plan?

S.M.A.R.T. goals are great, but they are only a part of your goal setting strategy. In today's episode I explain why you need to use S.M.A.R.T. goals plus the 5 Ws of goal setting to actually achieve your goals.

5 Ws of Goal Setting

Where?

  • Where are you now?
  • Where do you want to go?

When?

  • When do you want/need to start?
  • When do you want/need to end?
  • When can you take action on your goal?

What?

  • What do you need to achieve your goal?
  • What steps do you need to take (S.M.A.R.T. goals)?
  • What do you need to modify?

Who?

  • Who is completing the action step?
  • Who is doing the goal?
  • Who is holding you accountable?
  • Who is there for moral support?

Why?

  • Why do you want/need to start this goal?
  • Why do you want/need to achieve this goal?
  • Why is it important to you that you achieve this goal/take this action?
  • Ask why at least 5 times.

How many diets have you been on in the last few years? You do not have to go through the struggle and frustration of:

  • Not having enough time to plan
  • The store not having what you need
  • Not being able to afford premade meals or having to buy double the groceries
  • Feeling hungry all the time
  • Constantly craving foods you aren't allowed to eat
  • Binging because you are starving or have too strong of a craving
  • Not being able to sustain the weight loss once you stop the diet

BONUS: You can still lose weight while enjoying a drink of alcohol here and there.

Use these guidelines when drinking alcohol:

  • Liquor has very few calories, it's all the add-ins and mixers that contain the calories
  • Wine is low in calories
  • Beer and other malted beverages contain higher calories because they are made from carbs

Action Steps:

  1. Create a meal plan with foods you & your family enjoys

  2. Look over your nutrition/diet journal and see where you may need to make a few modifications

Chicken Salsa Recipe:

This is a fairly easy recipe and one of my favorite go-to meals.

All ingredients go into the crockpot in the morning and are ready to enjoy at supper

  • at least 1 lb of chicken boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 bag frozen corn
  • 1 bag frozen carrots
  • taco seasoning
  • 1 can salsa
  • 1 can diced tomatoes

Right before you eat it, use a fork to shred the chicken. Most of the juice will be absorbed during the process and it won't be as juicy.

Put on rice or tortilla shells, or tortilla chips with your favorite taco toppings - or without, we actually do this most of the time.

You do not need a gym to lose weight, you can lose weight just fine without the gym.

You do still need a plan, ask yourself the following questions to help you create your workout plan:

  1. Where can I workout?
  2. When can I workout?
  3. What exercises can I do without a gym?
  4. What equipment can I use?

Once you've answered the questions and created your plan, schedule it in your calendar.

Why This Podcast

Losing weight is hard, frustrating, and emotional. I want to be able to help you along your journey by sharing my stories and strategies that worked for me.

Who I Am

I'm an everyday extraordinary mompreneur just like you. I have been on the weight loss journey twice, once as a single woman and once as a mom and entrepreneur.

My Vision for This Podcast

Share thoughts, tips, strategies, and stories that will help you along your weight loss journey and lead you to success. I will share my personal stories as I enter the end stage of my personal (second) weight loss journey and into maintenance, as well as bring other mompreneurs onto the show who have been living their own healthy lifestyles while running a business to share their stories.

Action Steps:

  1. Begin keeping a journal of what you eat and after a week, look over your entries and decide where you can make small changes.

  2. Add in small bits of exercise to your day, whether it's a 10 minute workout or walking a little faster through the parking lot.
