Laurinda H. Spear, FAIA, PLA, LEED AP, IIDA
Principal of Arquitectonica
As a founding principal of Arquitectonica and ArquitectonicaGEO, Ms. Spear has been active from the beginning, and has participated in the design of many projects undertaken by both firms. She studied fine arts at Brown University, received her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University and later a Master of Landscape Architecture from Florida International University. She has taught at Harvard and the University of Miami. Ms. Spear is interested in educating others in design excellence, she has lectured around the world, and her work has been exhibited in many prestigious museums.
Laurinda has designed many of the firm’s signature projects, and her designs have won over a hundred design awards. Many of Ms. Spear’s projects have been featured in books, as well as prominent magazines and professional journals. She was also instrumental in the expansion of Arquitectonica into design fields beyond architecture and planning. She first established the interior design practice, Arquitectonica Interiors, which earned the firm its place in the Interior Design Hall of Fame. She also created the design products group, Laurinda Spear Products, which has over 150 products on the market under dozens of global brands. In 2005, Laurinda established the landscape architecture practice ArquitectonicaGEO, focusing on environmental land planning, sustainability, innovation, and landscape design.
Laurinda is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a Registered Landscape Architect, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional. She is a recipient of the AIA Silver Medal, the Rome Prize in Architecture and the ULI Lifetime Achievement Award.
Cecilia E. Ramos of Lutron
Cecilia leads Architecture & Design at Lutron where she drives strategy, creative direction, and design engagement globally. She holds degrees in architecture from MIT and Princeton and has traveled the world as a lighting designer for luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Dior Parfums. A frequent international speaker and co-author of the book Architectural Lighting: Designing with Light and Space (Princeton Architectural Press, 2011) she finds creative energy though hiking the world’s stunning landscapes, painting, and designing jewelry for her own brand.

Barbara Peterson, Landscape Architect
Barbara is from Texas and has been in Oklahoma for just over 4 ½-years. She’s a
registered Landscape Architect in both Texas and Oklahoma and spends her weekends traveling the state where she has now been to and photographed over 420 towns which is over 400 more than she ever stopped at in Texas where she lived since ‘73.
She doesn’t photograph residences or drive through neighborhoods but has seen every architectural style from historic 1800’s brick work to modern glass clad structures. She has been pleasantly surprised at the diversity of Oklahoma architecture because she had previously only drove through Oklahoma on the highway so she never expected the stunning diversity of the state or its architecture.
She was involved for a short time with OK ASLA. And before moving to Tulsa, was
involved and supported a 4-year high school architecture program in north Dallas. Her son and a friend’s daughter both graduated from that program, and both went on to study architecture. Her son is working on his ARE and the friend’s daughter is finishing her university studies.

Alexandra Lange
Alexandra Lange is a journalist, design critic, and author. Her essays, reviews and profiles have appeared in numerous design publications including Architect, Harvard Design Magazine, and Metropolis, as well as in The Atlantic, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, and the New York Times. She is a contributing writer for Bloomberg CityLab, and has been a featured writer at Design Observer, an opinion columnist at Dezeen, and the architecture critic for Curbed. In 2025 she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism for a series on how urban design and architecture affect children and families.

Lee Bey is architecture critic for the Chicago Sun-Times and ABC7 News Chicago.
His column covers the Chicago area’s built environment and the architectural, political, racial and historical forces that shape it.
He was a member of the Sun-Times editorial board for six years where he wrote editorials on city governance, neighborhood development, politics and urban planning.
Bey is the author of the much-praised book, Southern Exposure: The Overlooked Architecture of Chicago’s South Side (Northwestern University Press, 2019), which showcases his architectural photography and social commentary.
He was also the host of the public television special, Building Blocks: The Architecture of Chicago’s South Side, which aired on WTTW in 2023. Bey earned a 2023 Midwest Emmy nomination for his work on the program.
He is also an in-demand speaker and media commentator on the subjects of architecture, urban planning, Chicago history and late 20th century Black history and culture.

Stephen K. Chung, AIA is a registered architect in Florida and Massachusetts and principal of Stephen Chung, Architect. His Boston-based studio is focused on residential and hospitality projects. www.stephenchung.com Stephen received his architecture degree from Harvard.
His recent projects include a new 89 room boutique hotel in called The Sarasota Modern, three new houses in Sarasota and a townhouse development and residential building both in Boston. In 2020-2024 Stephen won a “Best of Houzz” Award for his residential design work. In March 2009, Casas Internacional published a monograph on his residential work. The book features eleven of his residential projects.
In addition to practice, Stephen has taught architectural design at several institutions, including Cornell, Rhode Island School of Design, the University of Texas at Austin and Yale University. Currently he is an Adjunct Professor of Interior Architecture at Suffolk University.
Stephen is committed to bridging the gap between the architecture profession and the general public. To this end, Stephen was the creator, executive producer and host of the acclaimed public television series called “Cool Spaces: The Best New Architecture”. Season 1 of this landmark series debuted on PBS in 2014.

Few things are more important than ensuring people have the dignity of a safe home to live in. In 2006, Ralph designed the OPCC/Annenberg Access Center, which provides essential services to over 200 homeless individuals daily, including food, health care, counseling, job placement, laundry, and showers.
Since 2017, Ralph has served on the Board of Directors of the Community Corporation of Santa Monica, where he helps oversee the development of new affordable housing projects and the maintenance of over 2,000 units across Santa Monica and neighboring areas. His connection to Community Corporation dates back to the 1980s when he designed its first ground-up project—a 43- unit development across five sites in an older neighborhood for low-income individuals and families.

Brad Northcut of Tinker Ma
Brad was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. He attended the University of TN School of Architecture in 1996-2001 where he also played in the Pride of the Southland marching band, and was a member of the UT Men’s rowing and volleyball club teams. When he’s not representing clients in real estate, Brian enjoys spending time with his kids, doing hot yoga several times a week—sometimes followed by a cold plunge in the ocean or Barton Springs when in Austin—hiking, mountain biking, surfing, touring architectural homes, organic gardening and chicken husbandry (he has seven raised beds and eight laying hens in his front yard), traveling, meditation and Native American studies. Brian holds a BS in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and MA in Architecture from UCLA. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

John Sather is an Architect and Land Planner based in Scottdale, Arizona, and is the Managing Partner of Swaback Architects + Planners. He and his business partner, Vern Swaback, started the firm almost 45 years ago, after both left the Frank Lloyd Wright (FLLW) Foundation based at Taliesin and Taliesin West. Vern Swaback was a direct apprentice to FLLW and John was a student at the School of Architecture that continued on after Wright’s death. He currently serves as a Board of Trustee member of the School of Architecture founded by FLLW.
John’s work spans the US, Mexico, and Hawaii. His architectural involvements are centered on special case assignments where the project goal is to create precedent-setting design, such as Univision Television Headquarters, one of the largest rammed earth structures built in modern time. Additionally, he has designed numerous resorts and residences, and recently perhaps the most important environmental education and research center focused on desert and arid lands, which will be located in the Sonoran Desert.
His land planning/community design work in Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, and Sedona includes some of the most environmentally sensitive communities in the US. He has received awards for virtually all of his work, and has had numerous articles published about both his planning and architectural work. He has traveled to virtually all parts of the world in his ongoing study of architecture and community design.

One of the things that I have been doing during the pandemic opening up are reaching out to different architects and going to their offices to meet in person and
I have been visiting a lot of residential architects lately and I have my own projects so this is first in a series on #HousesHousing that I will be focusing on in the new year.

Interview with Lisa Raynes, architect and creator and owner of the Pride Road Architecture Franchise.
Lisa is an architect that specialises in the domestic sector which, she discovered, is perfect for getting her "work-life balance just right."[1] After being made redundant twice due to maternity leave, she decided, in 2010, to set up Raynes Architecture, [2], out of necessity, as there were no architecture employment opportunities at the time. However, the gender inequality within architecture continued to frustrate her, so recently she created the franchise Pride Road in June 2016, which has been a Chartered Practice for only six months (as of January 2018), [3] yet is a "game changer for women in architecture,"[4] as it allows her to give her flexible business model to other architects, so they too could enjoy their families, as well as their work. Raynes argues that "On entering the architecture school, there is 50/50 split across genders but once you get into practice, the numbers fall to 20-30% of all architects being women," [5] so despite women being equally interested in architecture, they "fall prey to economic cycles far more than men and once [they] decide to have a family."

Pamela Magnus didn’t plan on having her own firm, but priorities change when you have children. With her husband, Hector, they created Architects Magnus to watch their children grow and make their own hours. Both being architects, they designed their home to function for their lifestyle of both family and business. Twenty years and two sons later, they are still passionate about designing for the lifestyle of each client.
On the side, Pamela currently enjoys volunteering with her son on everything from Bingo with Seniors to making burritos for the homeless. Sustainable design and healthy buildings have always been a passion for Kristi. She became a LEED Accredited Professional in 2007 and has served as LEED Coordinator or LEED Project Manager on several notable, sustainably-designed projects around the country. Government and corporate clients have sought her expertise for educating their staff about sustainability, greening their building operations, strategizing for building and site purchases and planning for future sustainable renovations.

Liza Hausman is Vice President of Industry Marketing at Houzz, an innovative residential building and design platform and community. Houzz has transformed the process of home design in the luxury market and beyond by applying mobile, visual and other technologies that are driving design in today's digital age. Ms. Hausman is a frequent speaker at design events across the country, from the AIA Conference to the International Builders' Show, and is a board member of the Home Improvement Research Institute (HIRI). In her role at Houzz, Ms. Hausman is focused exclusively on the trade community, from architects, interior designers, and luxury builders to brands and manufacturers. Ms. Hausman has experience spanning advertising, consulting, marketing and social strategy for Fortune 500 brands and a host of innovative startups, and shares her expertise on topics ranging from brand-building to the economic and structural trends that are changing the home design and construction industries. Ms. Hausman graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and earned her MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management. Over a decade-long tenure at Houzz, she's brought in architects as well as interior and landscape designers to create a special home for herself and her husband, two children and dog Suki in Palo Alto, California.

Ann Sussman, RA, is an architect, author and researcher passionate about understanding how people experience buildings. Her book, Cognitive Architecture, Designing for How We respond to the Built Environment (Routledge, 2015) co-authored with Justin B. Hollander, won the 2016 Place Research Award from the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA). A 2nd edition, featuring 40 color images of eye-tracked architecture, came out in July (2021). Ann teaches a course on how buildings make people feel, called Architecture&Cognition, at the Boston Architectural College (BAC). (it’s open enrollment so feel free to sign up!) She also serves as President of the educational and research non-profit, the Human Architecture and Planning Institute, Inc. (theHapi.org) based in Concord, MA. Djana Venolia, AIA International Associate
Djana is a Brazilian architect and urban designer. She has worked with architectural services, interior and landscape design, and media services for residential, commercial and hospitality projects in Africa, Europe, U.S., and Brazil for over 20 years.
After moving to the United States, Djana has engaged in various projects supporting her community. She volunteers at her church, local YMCA and she has collaborated with other non-profits teaching art, architecture, robotics to name a few.
Djana joined the Western Lighting and Energy Controls family in 2019 and has dived in the LED world through the lens of a designer as well as the sustainability aspect of energy savings.
Whenever it is possible, she enjoys traveling throughout America visiting national parks and landmarks.
Djana lives in San Diego County and frequently visits her daughter, Ana Manoela in Kansas where she lives with her husband and Sea Punk, the cat.

Katharine MacPhail believes that architects are for everyone, and is on a mission to relieve as much of the stress from home renovations as possible for homeowners through sharing information and tips from experts and those who have gone before on her podcast Talking Home Renovations with the House Maven. She received her Masters in Architecture in 1996 in Los Angeles at Southern California Institute of Architects and is now a registered Architect in Massachusetts where she grew up. She homeschooled her 3 kids over a total of 13 years and along the way picked up a passion for Scottish fiddle playing. Now she plays with the Boston Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, is secretary of the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club, and manages the fiddle band Scottish Fish.

Elsa Contreras attended California State University, Fresno and received a BA interior design with a minor in construction management. She is also a Graduate from California State University, Northridge, and received an MS in family consumer sciences- Interior Design option. IShe is currently pursuing a license in architecture (alternative path to licensure) and NCIDQ certificate. In the past She has taught building codes at her local community college and currently works as a project designer overseeing projects from schematic design to project closeout. She is a past Associate Director on the Board of Directors of the AIA Golden Empire chapter.

She graduated with a bachelor of architecture from the University of Miami , with a focus on urban design, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Bianca has worked on a variety of project types including mid- and high-rise buildings, mixed-use, commercial and hospitality.
With a passion for supporting her peers, Bianca is a Licensing Advisor for NCARB and co-founder of Mothers in Architecture, a support community for moms in the AEC industry.”
Tara Wood Dozark
Tara Wood Dozark is a licensed architect in St. Petersburg Florida who has worked in the profession for over 20 years. She is a mother of three children ages 5, 8 and 20 and she teaches design architecture as an adjunct professor at the School or Architecture and Community Design at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Women’s Soccer Team. In 2003 she received her Masters of Architecture degree

2012, Evelyn finished a dual MPA Masters Public Administration)/MBA Masters
Business Administration) in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate
School.
She is widely published, wrote a monthly column for Contract magazine for over 3
years, and now is a frequent contributor to Architect Magazine. Evelyn has
received numerous industry awards including the 2016 40 Under 40 award
for Building Design + Construction and the 2014 AIA National Young Architects
Award. She currently serves as the first ever female Treasurer to the AIA National
Board in 20202021.
Evelyn has been a featured Keynote Speaker, Invited Guest, Panelist, and
Moderator at national design and architecture conferences including AIA National
Convention, Dwell on Design, and Women in Green. Her topics focus on
developing knowledge leadership, organizational change management, capacity
building, stakeholder engagement, and strategic approaches to put design
thinking into practice.

Dr. Karen Makoff is a psychologist with a private practice in Los Angeles. She has a specialty in child and adolescent psychotherapy. She has a PhD in clinical child psychology and did a fellowship in clinical child and adolescent psychotherapy. She also has a Masters in Architecture from SCI-ARC, and a master’s in Russian Language, and a BA in Russian and Soviet Studies. Currently she works as a psychologist remotely from home.

As co-Director of the Sports practice at a large architecture firm, Craig focuses on development/delivery of the firm’s professional
sports, entertainment and hospitality projects. His passion for designing sports and entertainment
venues grew out of his love for sports as a youth.

in action in a stadium I helped create.”
Craig has become recognized in the stadium design industry for his knowledge and skills managing and
directing the diverse group of engineers and specialty consultants associated with such facilities. He
proficiently understands the planning stages and drivers of design behind athletic and mixed-use
facilities, bringing a thorough knowledge of the functional requirements, building program elements and
revenue-enhancing elements associated with public assembly buildings. He is a hands-on Principal and
Project Manager and remains involved through all aspects of project development, from programming
and concept design to design development and construction administration. Among the many projects
he has led over the years, two of the firm’s largest projects standout - Citizens Bank Park (Philadelphia
Phillies) and MetLife Stadium (NY Football Giants and NY Jets).
Craig began his career in 1987 after earning his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Penn State
University. He joined the firm in 2001 and became a Principal in 2005. He is active in various sports-
design related organizations where he often shares his expertise as a speaker or panelist. He has lived
and worked on both coasts, and holds licenses in 5 states.

Bill Martin grew up In Northern New Jersey just outside New York City. He attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh where he studied architecture and for a time, managerial economics. He then returned to the New York area and completed his study of architecture at Pratt Institute in New York City receiving his degree in 1988.
Bill is licensed in five states as an architect and is also a licensed professional community
planner In New Jersey. He is also a licensed New Jersey construction official and building
inspector.
With over 38 years in this field, Bill has been in private practice for 29 years. He has been
involved in the design of many building types. From consulting on hospital projects to designing office warehouse distribution centers, malls and shopping centers, Bill now focuses on historic preservation and high-performance single-family home configuration with integration of sustainable and resilient features. His projects are sustainable both economically and environmentally.
Bill is a certified LEED AP home design professional and was the recipient of a 2011 AIA New
Jersey committee on the environment top 10 project merit award.
Bill is currently Co chairman of the AIA New Jersey Public Awareness committee and engages
frequently with the press and on social media. Bill has been seen on Fox News, CNBC, and
MSNBC discussing preservation issues, trends in design and sustainability.

Biography
The work of Lawrence Scarpa has redefined the role of the architect to produce some of the most remarkable and exploratory work today. He does this, not by escaping the restrictions of practice, but by looking, questioning and reworking the very process of design and building. Each project appears as an opportunity to rethink the way things normally get done – with material, form, construction, even financing – and to subsequently redefine it to cull out its latent potentials – as Scarpa aptly describes: making the “ordinary extraordinary.” This produces entirely inventive work that is quite difficult to categorize. It is environmentally sustainable, but not “sustainable design;” it employs new materials, digital practices and technologies, but is not “tech” or “digital;” it is socially and community conscious, but not politically correct. Rather, it is deeply rooted in conditions of the everyday, and works with our perception and preconceptions to allow us to see things in new ways.
Over the last ten years, Mr. Scarpa’s firm BROOKS + SCARPA received more than 50 major design awards, notably 18 National AIA Awards, including the 2010 Architecture Firm Award, the 2006 and 2003 AIA Committee on the Environment “Top Ten Green Project” awards, 2005 Record Houses, 2003 Record Interiors, 2003 Rudy Bruner Prize, and finalist for the World Habitat Award, one of ten firms selected worldwide. In 2004 The Architectural League of New York selected him as an “Emerging Voice” in architecture and in 2009 he received The Lifetime Achievement Award from Interior Design Magazine. In 2010 his firm Pugh + Scarpa received the AIA National and California Council Firm Award. His work was recently exhibited at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC and featured in NEWSWEEK. Mr. Scarpa has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show in an interview with Leonardo DiCaprio.
He has taught and lectured at the university level at numerous schools including the 2012 Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He was also the 2009 E. Fay Jones Distinguished Professor, the 2008 Ruth and Norman Moore Visiting Professor at Washington University, the 2007 Eliel Saarinen Visiting Professor at the Alfred Taubman College of Architecture at the University of Michigan, 2005 University of Michigan Max Fisher Visiting Fellow, and 2004 Freidman Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley. He is a co-founder of Livable Places, Inc.; a nonprofit development and public policy organization dedicated to building mixed-use housing on under-utilized and problematic parcels of land.

MWA Architects has created master plans, and has designed several mixed income affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization projects in San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Detroit, St. Louis, Memphis, and post-Katrina New Orleans Faubourg Lafitte in New Orleans, the Cecil Williams Glide Community House, and the GEDC 125 Mason housing tower in San Francisco. He has facilitated planning studies in St. Louis’ Downtown, North Central, and JeffVanDerLou neighborhoods, demonstrating that good design does not have to be expensive to be comprehensive. He was principal on large public projects including the International Terminal at San Francisco Airport, Terminal 2 at Oakland International; and the Central Subway Yerba Buena/Moscone Station in San Francisco.
Mr. Willis was President of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIASF) in 1995 and was elevated to Fellowship in 1996. He has served on many committees and juries for the national AIA. II was a 2015 recipient of the AIA California Chapter Norma Sklarek Award. He is a 2013 Distinguished Alumni of the Washington University, a Distinguished Alumni of the WU School of Architecture, a Distinguished Alumni of the WU Brown School of Social Work; and a holder of a National Black Achievement award of the Black Alumni Council (1996). Michael gave the Commencement Address to the Brown School Social Work graduates in 2007.

This Interview with Angela Brooks, FAIA was done during the AIA California Monterey Design Conference in 2019
As the Managing Principal at Brooks + Scarpa, Angie supervises all of the office operations and ensures that each project remains on time and on budget by enforcing project deadlines, coordinating communications between all parties, and rigorously tracking finances. Her hands-on involvement runs from schematic design through completion of construction and post-occupancy and she is a recognized leader in the field of environmental and sustainable design and construction. She has pioneered more holistic ways of delivering affordable housing, sustainable architecture and advances in social equity.
Angie has been practicing architecture since 1991 and is also responsible for firm development in the area of housing and policy, leading the firm’s sustainable initiatives and overall management. She was a peer reviewer for Global Green USA’s book Blueprint for Greening Affordable Housing and was featured in the book Women in Green: Voices of Sustainable Design for her policy work with Livable Places and on Fuller Lofts, a sustainable mixed-use project designed to be a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization.
Angela received the National AIA Young Architects Award in 2009 and her firm has received more than twenty National AIA Awards, five Top Ten Green (COTE) Awards, the State of California and National AIA Architecture Firm of the Year Award in 2010 and the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award in Architecture in 2014.
Ms. Brooks was a co-founder and past President of Livable Places, Inc., a non-profit development company dedicated to building sustainable mixed-use housing in the city of Los Angeles on under-utilized and problematic parcels of land as a reaction against Southern California’s suburban sprawl. She has served as an advisor to the National Endowment of the Arts, Mayors Institute on City Design, the Advisory Board of Solar Santa Monica and currently is past-chair of the National AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Advisory Group, whose mission is to lead the profession’s involvement in environmental and design initiatives towards a more sustainable planet for all.
Angela is a powerful advocate for the rich, multivalent impact of good design. Ms. Brooks sees architecture as an instrument for the triple bottom line and the delivery vehicle for space that encourages occupants to flourish. She has pursued advancing ideas that promote larger societal well-being through policy organizations and her work in this area has garnered her mainstream recognition in print and media, such as Newsweek Magazine and her USA Network 2010 Character Approved Award.

Interview with Jared Basler, a San Diego native with over fifteen years experience in the local construction and architecture community. He is a graduate of NewSchool of Architecture and Design a licensed architect in Georgia, NCARB certified and he is working to towards his reciprocity for his California license. He established his firm Basis Studio in 2016 to respond to the state's legislation that removed many of the barriers that prevented homeowners from building Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). He also carved out a niche in the in the ADU market as the go-to expert not only in design but also in assisting jurisdictions in the creation of ordinances that promote the development of ADU's and that are consistent with the letter of the law.
He was awarded the 2018 YAYA Young Architect of the Year Award by AIA San Diego

So, I knew that I was going to be in Scottsdale, AZ so I called the office of an architect who I met a few years ago when I was here with a friend who was visiting their office for a project and I got to tag along for a few hours with Vern Swaback of Swaback Partners. Now for those who don't know who Vern is, let me tell you of an architect who you might know, and that would be Frank Lloyd Wright. Vern Swaback was the youngest intern at Taliesin and Taliesin West, as he is one of the people who can still tell the stories of being an apprentice at the studio. I just love to listen to the stories that he tells of Wright but also he speaks of Buckminster Fuller and just of his life and his philosophy which is just appreciation of creativity and life and it is just the most positive experience being there in his studio and being among his work and books and out in the courtyard that he shares with his daughter's adjacent interiors studio.

Marilyn is the founding principal of Runcible Studios. Like the runcible spoon, she is happiest operating at the seam[s] between practicality and whimsy, utility and beauty, the esoteric and the mundane.
She previously practiced architecture at Utile, Inc. in Boston, and worked as a construction project manager, contractor, and estimator in Charlottesville, VA. She has also taught design studios, construction detailing, and theory courses at Boston Architectural College and Wentworth Institute of Technology, and was the Director of Practice Instruction and Community Engagement Projects at the BAC, where she directed nearly 80 student-led projects. She has lectured on her research and/or been a guest critic at Northeastern University, University of Virginia, UC Berkeley, Harvard GSD, Elon University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Rhode Island School of Design, and University of Cincinnati, as well as various architecture and design firms in Boston and nationally.
She is a Chair of the Advisory Board for Northeastern University’s NuLawLab, and a weekly volunteer at MSPCA Boston Adoption Center.

ROBERT SWINBURNE AIA of Bluetime Collaborative
Was a mediocre student in high school.
Bob's grades were fine and he was a band geek but he was too busy reading, drawing and building things to bother studying. During the summer in Harrison, Maine he worked for one of those people who could do anything. Bob didn't learn to do everything but he learned a lot.
After a few false starts at college Bob found architecture school and it was good. Time consuming and expensive, but good.
After graduation, Bob headed for the hills of Vermont, worked for several architectural firms and spent six years as a carpenter before becoming a licensed architect and starting this firm.
Bob lives in Halifax, Vermont in a little house with a big barn, lots of woods, a wife, two kids and assorted animals. He takes off into the woods everyday with the K-9 patrol.
Lots of people think Bob is a pretty good architect.
