Forgiveness is a personal journey - a decision that we make to release someone from an unhealthy hold in our heart. Unforgiveness is the breeding ground for bitterness, resentment, and anger. It can poison our relationships with others and our relationship with ourself. Forgiveness doesn’t require reconciliation, neither does it require you to forget the wrong done to you. It just requires that you let go, and it makes you all the better for doing so.

You will be all the better for doing so

Watch today’s episode on how to overcome comparison and jealousy when it comes to building up your talents and aspirations.

There is no beneficial fruit in unhealthy comparison, it leads to the breakdown of relationships and dreams.

If one does not master their emotions in the place of comparison, they are at risk of ruining everything they have worked for. We must learn to be content in our own journey. We must learn to stay in our Lane.

Join us in today's episode on the value of connections with our guest Toni!

When I first met Toni I admired his ability to connect with people on a genuine level. In today's episode we discuss the importance of putting yourself into new environments and being intentional about the relationships we make and keep. Networking is more than just a corporate transaction - great benefits come from interacting with great people.

It would be a shame to deny ourselves the opportunity to grow with others. When we show up, we do ourselves a big favour.

Throughout the weeks I've been learning some uncomfortable life lessons, but as always, I've decided to embrace the growth. Time has taught me more about the relationships I have and the value of waiting things out. Things don't always stay the same and people change in response to the developments happening in their life. As friends and family, we are to respect this growth, and we should understand when life is taking us different ways.

Another thing I've been learning about is communication, and how every feeling we have doesn't have to be expressed, but that doesn't mean they have to be ignored. Sometimes we need to be open with those around us about how we feel, sometimes we don't. The best phrase to use here is 'it's all about finding balance'.

And last but not least - Feedback. Simple lesson: if it's coming from the right people - take it.

As long as we have a destination, we have a journey, and in this journeying we are developing and achieving things that are worthy of our recognition.  There is power in the journey, and often it equips us for the end goal. Embrace it!

Listen to today's episode on the strength we garner from staying in the race towards our end goal. There's so much beauty to be appreciated, we just need to recognise it.

Shame is a mental hindrance that prevents us from trying again and approaching life with the best of what we have. Shame distorts our reality, redirecting our focus from the truth of life, to the negativity of our self-condemnation. Shame says everything is over, the reality is that we should be trying again. As long as we are alive there is always room to grow, and if we fully want to make a change, we need to come to the understanding that our past can never keep us in its shackles.

Join me in today's podcast episode on the dangers of shame and the necessity of letting it go.

We all have gifts and talents which we can use to impact the world, yet many of us keep them hidden for fear of judgement or due to our failure to truly acknowledge their relevance. It's often through meeting others who can see our talents that we learn how to use them. Sometimes people can notice things about us that we've never seen for ourselves.

Let's try to affirm others, if we notice a strength in them let's draw their attention to it. Let us build each other up.

The season of preparation is a time period where we acquire things, lose things, and endure things as a result of surrounding pressure. The ultimate purpose of a season of preparation is to stir within you the character needed for your next level. These seasons are inevitable in life as they equip us for future events. What distinguishes a season of preparation from one of struggle is our perspective. We can use our challenges to develop our character.

We all need mirrors to cover our blind spots. We have people in our lives who are loving enough to tell us the truth and we shouldn't take them for granted. We need to build up our tolerance for offense and learn to separate a kind word of truth from an attack on our character. Similarly we too shouldn't be afraid of telling those we love the truth. It's a blessing not many of us appreciate.

An area of myself that I am working on is inconsitencies in my character, like I'm super bubbly this week then super quiet and shy next week. I want to be consistent and to stop allowing my emotions to rule me the way they do. I'm already making a lot of progress and I'm on my way to healing. Another thing I've realised these past few weeks is that I really like being affirmed in private, when people choose to spend time with me one on one - it makes my heart swirl. Can you relate?

Motivation, it's everywhere. On Instagram in those inspirational quotes, on Youtube, with those perfect morning routines. The inspirational quotes and motivational speakers are telling us to follow our dreams, to work for what we long for, to chase that mirage of success to the ends of the earth until we finally catch it. But let's be realistic, how many of us actually succeed? There are bills, obligations, hardships, and unfortunately, not everyone has wealthy backgrounds to back up their endeavours.

Is chasing your dreams exclusive to the privileged and wealthy, is it right for us to encourage our children, students, and mentees to take the conventional job routes, the ones which guarantee employment? Can we ever justify the education system's demolition of childhood dreams with the prospect of financial security?

Why do we change the way we speak, is it insecurity, conformity, prejudice? Why do we try to sound posh, or urban, intelligent, or funny? Why does our language have to reflect so much of our personality? Code Switching is prevalent in many of our lives, yet our reasons for adjusting our accents and language differ greatly. Language can be a means to convey our identity, so by changing it so frequently, one could argue that we are changing ourselves in the process. Or merely ashamed of how others will perceive us if we spoke like we usually did, with our accents and slang.

We've all heard the common narrative, that we all have the same 24 hours in a day, the same access to higher education, the same opportunities as those around us. But is it really true? Do we all really compete on a level playing field? Does privilege really exist? One could argue that our society is fair and just, but personal experiences offer a different story.
