President Dallin Hoaks has gone on record giving us every reason we need to not trust what he says. In this episode, Radio Free Mormon brings the receipts, showing that the current president of the LDS Church is the kind of guy who will try to get you to believe something, even when he knows it isn’t true. That is quite the allegation! And RFM more than backs it up in this remarkable episode!

The LDS Church claims huge growth in membership numbers in Africa. But is this claim true? Or is it manufactured like the baptism numbers claimed for Central and South America back in the 1970s? During Mormonism Live last night, an African named Riya Ngambi called in and spilled the beans on the whole operation, showing how the Mormon Church baptism numbers reported for Africa are largely fictional, and do not represent a state of burgeoning membership as the Church claims!

Jacob Hansen has been slowly but surely losing his mind over the last several years. Okay. Not so slowly. But still. Radio Free Mormon details the circumstances leading up to the guilty plea last Thursday in federal court by Wade Christofferson to CSA charges. What did D. Todd Christofferson know, and when did he know it? And based on the little information the Church has disclosed, D. Todd definitely knew about the danger his brother posed to small children at least as recently as 2020 or 2021. Which means if D. Todd had reported it to police at that time, the child abuse to which Wade just pleaded guilty would never have happened! This is inexcusable. It is definitely time for D. Todd Christofferson to step down from his position in the First Presidency, and to resign from his office as apostle! (This is a segment from the 7-13-26 Mormon Newscast previously aired.)

RFM was a Mormon apologist 40-years ago, and as part of that ended up writing a paper on Lehi’s Dream that was published in The Journal of Book of Mormon Studies. It is an important paper that continues to be cited by Mormon apologists in various publications and formats, even as recently as March of 2026, long after I have slipped the surly bonds of Mormonism, and reached out to touch the face of RFM. This is an important part of my story, and how it is that a dream I had when I was younger came true; but only in the strangest and most unlikely of ways!

Ever wonder what happens when you take all the earliest accounts of the Angel Moroni appearing to Joseph Smith and compare them? The answers can be problematic but always fascinating. RFM is joined by an all-star panel of Bill Reel, Randy Bell and everyone’s favorite Rando, Kolby Reddish, to hash through the sources. I had a faith crisis in my mid-twenties. A big faith crisis. It involved a salamander and it involved a letter. It made me question everything I thought I knew about Joseph Smith, the book he produced, and the religion he founded. The LDS religion. MY religion! And in that time of despair, I clung to the most significant single evidence that the Book of Mormon is ancient, and therefore authentic, and therefore true. I clung to the presence of “chiasmus” in the Book of Mormon; that incredible ancient Hebrew literary form that shows up in such abundance in the Nephite record. But had I been told everything there was to tell about chiasmus? Or had information been withheld from me to make “chiasmus” look like a much more impressive evidence for the Book of Mormon? Was it a solid evidence, or was it fool’s gold? And if I had known it was fool’s gold in my twenties, would I have clung to it as such strong evidence for the Book of Mormon? And if I had not clung to “chiasmus,” as proof of the Restoration, might I have left the church in my mid-twenties and lived a very different life; a life lived on my own terms as opposed to the terms dictated to me by Mormonism? These are the thoughts that I try to work through in this podcast. I hope you will join me on this journey.

Joseph Smith was a treasure seeker in his youth. But it didn’t end there. The religion he founded, and the book he dictated into existence, also bear unmistakable signs of his treasure-seeking activities, specifically the process he used to locate buried treasure. Dr. John Lundwall shares his new theory that the Book of Mormon fits best within the framework of performative spell-casting by a treasure-seeking Joseph Smith. Radio Free Mormon shares his perspective on how this framework also fits astonishing well when laid alongside the LDS Temple endowment ceremony. This week, Radio Free Mormon gathers an all-star panel of Mormon influencers to respond to President Dallin H. Oaks’ recent devotional address delivered at Brigham Young University on Tuesday, February 10. Front and center is Oaks’ warning about “speculation and false information in podcasts and on social media” — and his counsel to avoid being persuaded by those voices. Instead, he urges members to seek out “faithful, well-informed friends,” renew covenants weekly, attend the temple regularly, and stay firmly on the covenant path. So what does it mean when Church leadership cautions members about podcasts… in a media landscape where podcasts are one of the primary spaces for discussion, nuance, and historical transparency? Is this about protecting faith? Controlling narrative? Reducing doubt? Or something more complicated? Our panel dives deep into the psychology behind information control, authority, and epistemic trust. Who gets to define “well-informed”? Why are certain conversations labeled speculation while others are framed as revelation? And what happens when members are told to avoid sources that challenge official claims? Expect thoughtful analysis, sharp humor, and candid reflection as we explore what this devotional signals about the Church’s current moment — and what it means for creators, critics, and everyday members trying to navigate faith in the digital age. If you care about truth, trust, and who controls the story, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.

In order to avoid turning over Helpline records, the Church has previously sworn all the records are destroyed at the end of each day. Now suddenly, in order to defend itself against the allegations of Beau Oyler, a former bishop, the LDS Church miraculously goes back to August of 2013 and . . . finds the Helpline records for one particular phone call! How is that possible if those records were destroyed at the end of the day? How indeed? Watch this eleven-minute clip from the February 6, 2026 Mormonism After Dark show for details!

RFM and esteemed co-counsel Kolby Reddish dissect Chapter 12 of Austin Fife’s “Lite on Truth Letter.” They completely decimate the apologetic attempt to make excuses for why Mormon prophets have a historically disastrous record of making failed prophecies and disavowed doctrinal pronouncements. Astonishingly, some new apologists such as Austin Fife and Jacob Hansen are trying to stake out the position that it’s okay for prophets to get doctrinal pronouncements wrong . . . but you can totally trust everything else they say! What does it say when you have to lie to defend your religion? Time to get a new religion? Not if you’re Jacob Hansen! For Jacob, lying is all in a day’s work for a Mormon apologist. Radio Free Mormon was an apologist for ten years back in the 1980s. RFM got to the same point as Jacob Hansen; where he realized he was actively misleading his audience to convince them Mormonism was true. That’s when RFM gave up apologetics. When Jacob Hansen got to that same point, however, that’s when he doubled down. In this podcast, RFM exposes how Jacob Hansen misrepresents fundamental teachings of the LDS Church in order to win an argument. Talk about selling your birthright for a mess of pottage! What this shows us incontrovertibly is that the Mormon Church cannot be defended as it is; it must first be changed into something else. And even then it isn’t defensible. RFM and Kolby Reddish take Austin Fife out behind the woodshed yet again in this newest analysis of “The Light and Truth Letter.” The more Austin defends the LDS Church, the deeper the hole he digs for Mormonism. In Chapter 19 titled “Critical Myths,” Austin Fife proves that truth should be no obstacle in defending the Mormon Church. RFM and Kolby are right there to point out all the lies, half-truths and distortions that Austin must use to make Mormonism defensible. Radio Free Mormon and Kolby Reddish dissect chapter 17 of Austin Fife’s Light On Truth Letter. Easily the worst chapter so far, Austin inadvertently reveals a lot about himself, including the fact that the way he deals with critics of Mormonism is to “stop listening to them.” This was surprising from somebody who wrote an entire book to address their arguments, but there you have it. Austin also lets us know that he systematically mischaracterizes critics of Mormonism as the worst people on the planet so he can make Mormons look good by comparison. Radio Free Mormon is joined once again by esteemed co-counsel Kolby Reddish to take apart yet another chapter of Austin Fife’s “Light On Truth Letter.” RFM and Kolby agree this has got to be the crappiest chapter in an otherwise crappy book. But sometimes, the crappier the chapter, the longer it takes to break down. We point out numerous logical fallacies Austin Fife engages in to try to make Mormon plural marriage defensible, many of which Austin Fife mentioned earlier in his own book! That’s right! Austin Fife sets forth in the first chapter of his book a list of logical fallacies to be aware of when used by critics. This turns out to be a timely warning, as Austin Fife proceeds to employ pretty much every logical fallacy he lists; seven of them at least in this chapter alone! Bill acts as the jury weighing the evidence and speaks to why this matters for anyone trying to do responsible Mormon scholarship. And in the end you get a front row seat as RFM attempts to catch a thief. They also explore what happens to a community when influencers cut corners, how repeated plagiarism undermines trust, and why ethical standards in religious commentary are more than just academic nitpicking. The Book of Mormon makes it clear that the gifts of the Spirit are a sign of salvation. If a church has the gifts of the Spirit, it is a true church that leads to salvation. If a church does not have the gifts of the Spirit, it is a false church that leads to damnation. How does the modern LDS Church fare when this test from the Book of Mormon is applied to it? Not well, I’m afraid. Ultimately, the Book of Mormon has the unfortunate honor of destroying modern Mormonism. Tune in for the details!

RFM is joined once more by Kolby Reddish as they break down the Light and Truth Letter. In chapter 10, Austin Fife argues the LDS temple endowment ritual is better explained by links to the ancient Near East, as opposed to the contemporary Masonry going on in Joseph’s own backyard. In presenting his case, Austin Fife never tells you exactly what the correspondences are between the LDS temple and Masonry. RFM and Kolby Reddish show the connections, and once you have seen them, it is hard to believe Joseph Smith came up with the names, signs, tokens, penalties and symbols of the LDS temple in any way other than from Masonry. Watch and decide for yourself!

Did David O. McKay lose his testimony of the Book of Mormon? Not as a kid or young man, but while serving as the ninth president of the LDS Church? Incredibly, the evidence actually seems to support the idea! Join Radio Free Mormon as he sets forth the case that David O. McKay, the most popular president and prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 20th Century, did not believe the Book of Mormon to be ancient, but instead believed that Joseph Smith himself wrote it. This is one you won’t want to miss!

Defenders of the Book of Mormon point to the war chapters as evidence of its truth. Tonight, Radio Free Mormon reviews five important aspects of the war chapters and comes to a decidedly different conclusion. He Was Too Honest About Mormon Scripture—So They Made Him Pay! David P. Wright, a brilliant scholar of the Hebrew Bible, once taught at BYU—until his academic integrity put him at odds with LDS orthodoxy. In 1989, he was fired for holding views deemed incompatible with Church doctrine. But the campaign against him didn’t stop there. After securing a position at Brandeis University, a General Authority issued instructions to excommunicate him—all triggered by a scholarly paper showing literary parallels between the Book of Mormon and the New Testament. In this episode, RFM walks you through the evidence—Wright’s own words, the paper that sparked the backlash, and the Church’s behind-the-scenes moves to silence him. This is the story they didn’t want you to know.

In this powerful episode of Radio Free Mormon, six bold and insightful women join RFM to dissect the explosive “Women in the Church” chapter from Austin Fife’s controversial Light and Truth Letter. With raw honesty and lived experience, these women share how the Church’s teachings on gender have shaped—and in many cases, harmed—their spiritual journeys, relationships, and sense of self. Together, they expose the psychological toll of patriarchy dressed up as revelation, confront long-standing cultural assumptions, and offer a window into what true spiritual autonomy looks like. This isn’t theory—this is real Mormon women, telling the truth.

Every Mormon alive can tell you without hesitation about the Godhead; how there are three members in the Godhead, the Father and the Son, with bodies of flesh and bones, and the Holy Ghost with a body of spirit. What most Mormons are not aware of, however, is that Joseph Smith taught a radically different doctrine of the Godhead before this version. And on top of that, Joseph Smith taught that you had to believe in the earlier version of the Godhead in order to be saved. Which would seem to mean that any Mormon who believes in a different version of the Godhead will not be saved, or other words, will be damned. This is the story of the Lectures on Faith. And this is the story of why it is all Mormons go to hell!

The Book of Mormon tells of a group of giant people named the Jaredites who came to the Americas long ago, direct from the destruction at the tower of Babel. Several extra-biblical elements are mentioned relating to the tower of Babel story, and surprisingly, these stories exist in ancient legends unavailable to Joseph Smith. Well, the original documents were unavailable to Joseph Smith. But Joseph did have access to a certain book in which those legends were written down. Stay tuned! This one you won’t want to miss!

When Jacob Hansen got called out for his sleight-of-hand tactics, he didn’t offer a defense—he offered a diagnosis: Kolby Reddish and RFM are “psychotic.”
But if anyone’s losing touch with reality, it might be the guy slicing and dicing evidence like a Benihana chef trying to make Book of Mormon logic sizzle.
In this episode, RFM and Kolby turn the tables on Jacob’s latest attempt to revise reality. Watch as the apologetic illusionist gets exposed for doing what he always does: cutting out inconvenient facts, spinning what’s left, and hoping nobody notices the smoke and mirrors. It’s sharp, it’s hilarious, and it’s a masterclass in how not to argue.

Have you ever heard of the Book of Mormon Challenge? It is a way Mormons have of trying to prove the Book of Mormon is true, by challenging a non-believer to write a comparable book in the same amount of time as Joseph Smith used on the Book of Mormon.
Well, it looks like RFM may have done that very thing. Can you imagine what will happen to the apologists if it turns out Radio Free Mormon is the one who beat the Book of Mormon challenge??? They’ll be like those Nazi guys at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Mormons are taught not to lie. And for the most part, they don’t. One of the only times Mormons will consistently lie to you is when talking about their religion.
Any time a Mormon has to lie (or stretch the truth) to make Mormonism look good, it is completely permissible. I know this may be hard to believe. But we have proof.
We take as an example a Mormon apologist named Jacob Hansen sitting down with non-Mormon Alex O’Connor to discuss Mormonism. We clock Jacob Hansen using deceptive techniques over twenty times with Alex O’Connor to try and make Mormonism look better than it is.
Don’t believe Mormons lie to you about their religion? Here’s the evidence that proves it!

When a Mormon apologist accidentally broadcasts damning evidence against Joseph Smith, RFM just has to do a show about it! The story is made only the more remarkable when the apologist actually calls the evidence he presents against Joseph Smith “damning.” What apologist would do such a thing? None other than our good friend, Jacob Hansen. Join RFM and Kolby Reddish for an astonishing and hilarious episode!
One correction and one clarification: 1. Jacob’s re-uploaded video is back up now—We couldn’t see it when we recorded yesterday. We encourage people to go watch for themselves. As someone in the comments noted for us, Jacob’s original epilogue DID explain the error he had made regarding the handwriting. Because Jacob had taken his video down when we were recording, we just had access to the clips we played and memory. So our criticism that Jacob didn’t explain what the error was is incorrect–shout out to Bro. Bear in the comments for noting that. Apologies to Jacob for getting that part of our commentary wrong. Because this is a very small part of our commentary regarding transparency, we’ve decided to just note in the comments (with the shout out to Bro. Bear) this correction. Jacob’s epilogue still doesn’t credit who brought his original error to his attention. The larger issue about how very significant facts can change, and the apologists’ conclusion never does, still stands. 2. As Elder Igloo states in the comments, we called this document the Grammar and Alphabet of the Egyptian Language and should have simply called the specific one written by Joseph the “Egyptian Alphabet,” to be more precise.

But in doing so, Joseph Smith managed to leave his fingerprints that he is the actual author; that he is not translating a history but creating a fictional account.
Here is the evidence. Listen and see if you don’t agree!

On May 15, 2024, Judge Faust of the Salt Lake City District Court issued terminating sanctions against Jenn Kamp in the defamation case brought against her by John Dehlin and the Open Stories Foundation.
In the order, Judge Faust found that Jenn Kamp had engaged in a pattern of hiding evidence from the other party so severe that it warranted terminating the case, holding as a matter of fact that Jenn Kamp had defamed John Dehlin, there would be no jury trial on the issue, and all that remained was to have a hearing in front of the judge in order to determine what the damages should be.
This is that order.

And on the other hand to be burdened and feel hopeless thinking its their only option if they stayed home to raise kids.

In this explosive episode of “Radio Free Mormon,” RFM delves into the shocking revelations surrounding “Operation Underground Railroad” (OUR) and anti-trafficking activist Tim Ballard (OUR). Documents obtained by VICE News unveil a complex web of connections, alleging that a prominent figure within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President M. Russell Ballard, played a secret role in “Operation Underground Railroad” activities. Insider information describes Ballard’s claims of a covert collaboration between OUR, his personal ventures, and the senior church leader Russell M Ballard. Their alleged aim: to use the anti-trafficking cause as a means to draw Americans into the Mormon faith. As RFM uncovers the intricate details, listeners will learn about the extent of the ties between the two Ballards, involving business arrangements, blessings, and even interactions with a psychic claiming to communicate beyond the veil. Moreover, the episode highlights the fallout from these revelations. Tim Ballard’s departure from “Operation Underground Railroad” amid internal investigations coincided with the unexpected success of “Sound of Freedom,” a fictionalized account of his child-rescue missions. RFM dissects the statements provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which firmly denounces any endorsement or support for “Operation Underground Railroad” and Tim Ballard’s projects. The podcast uncovers a trove of psychic readings, purportedly used in OUR’s operations, raising questions about the legitimacy of their missions. As the episode unfolds, RFM explores the ramifications of these revelations on Tim Ballard’s professional and political aspirations. Despite being effectively denounced by the Mormon power structure, Ballard’s persistence and ability to reinvent himself remain remarkable. Listeners will be captivated by this in-depth exposé, shedding light on a controversy that challenges perceptions of faith, activism, and personal ambition. “Operation Underground Railroad Unveiled: The Tim Ballard Controversy” promises to be a riveting and thought-provoking installment of “Radio Free Mormon.”
