Hello and Welcome to In Pursuit of Gratosis®, my name is Shannon Missimer! For the past four years I have been on a journey to live life differently, to stop chasing happiness as defined by the world, and instead live life in pursuit of Gratosis®. Gratosis| The state, process or condition of Gratitude. My mission with this podcast is to share my personal journey of what Gratosis® means to me and how it has impacted and shaped my life and the life of my family. To share research done by incredible scientists to dive into the science of Gratitude. And to connect with other individuals who have chosen to live their life differently whether personally or professionally. My hope in sharing my story of remembering that there is more than one way to live this is life, is that it might encourage you to explore your life in different ways knowing that you are not alone in your journey of living life in pursuit of Gratosis®. Thank you for being here.

In this episode, Shannon sits down with Dr. Jordan Graeme for a raw and relatable conversation about navigating life’s “messy middle” — the in-between season where old chapters close before the new ones fully arrive.
Jordan shares her deeply personal journey: rebuilding after an abusive marriage in her twenties, facing fertility challenges, becoming a mom, losing her hair to alopecia, and most recently, being laid off from her hospital career of 10 years. Together, Shannon and Jordan talk about what it feels like to lose your identity, question your path, and find your footing again in a world that often expects you to keep it all together.
This episode is not about fixing the hard seasons — it’s about honoring them, finding support, and making space for the whispers that show up when life finally quiets down.
In this episode, they explore:
About Today’s Guest:
Dr. Jordan Graeme is a chiropractor and integrative medicine practitioner based in Portland, Oregon. She’s also a mother, farm owner, and a woman walking through a powerful season of reinvention. Jordan is currently writing a book about her journey and the tools that helped her rebuild through multiple messy middles.

And as always — there is more to life than going through the motions. 💛

In this episode of The Motion of Gratitude podcast, Shannon sits down with creativity coach, award-winning author, director, and speaker Elizabeth Blake-Thomas, founder of Medicine with Words.
Elizabeth’s life is anything but linear—from moving across the world with two suitcases, to directing films, writing children’s books, and becoming a professor. Through it all, she’s become fiercely devoted to one thing: the power of words to shape our inner world, our sense of safety, and the way we move through life.
Together, Shannon and Elizabeth explore how language can either confine us or set us free, how grief can completely rewire our foundation, and why finding your word (like Elizabeth’s word, “safe”) can become a compass for how you live, love, and create.
This is a heartfelt, thought-provoking conversation about intention, grief, creativity, and giving ourselves permission to live by our own inner algorithm—not the one the world hands us.

In this solo episode, Shannon Missimer shares the story of how The Motion of Gratitude is bringing emotional resilience, mindfulness, and breathwork practices into schools — helping both students and teachers reconnect, regulate, and thrive.
What started as a personal journey has grown into a movement now reaching classrooms across the country. Shannon shares the story of working with Principal Steve Torrez in Wisconsin, whose school became one of the first to implement The Motion of Gratitude Guidebooks — a four-week gratitude and mindfulness program for youth.
Through their work together, Shannon reveals what happens when students are given tools to pause, breathe, and connect — and how even one year of practice can shift an entire school culture.
This episode is an inside look at what it takes to build emotional resilience in schools — and why caring for the caregivers is the first step toward supporting the next generation.
In this episode, Shannon shares:

Quote from the Episode:
“When we normalize presence and breath inside our schools, we give students more than coping skills — we give them safety, self-awareness, and the ability to thrive.”

Psychotherapist, founding EFT Master, and bestselling author Carol Look joins Shannon to demystify Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)—aka “tapping.” Carol explains why opening the “file” (naming the real stressor), tapping specific acupoints, and then layering gratitude can calm the fight-or-flight response and create lasting behavior change. Shannon shares her own session experience, and together they explore safety in the nervous system, why “positive thinking” isn’t enough, and practical targets anyone can use to start tapping today.
What You’ll Learn EFT 101: What tapping is and how it calms the nervous system * “Open the file”: Why focusing on the actual trigger matters more than generic positivity * Safety first: How a dysregulated nervous system quietly drives avoidance and self-sabotage * Targets that work: Four categories—emotions, limiting beliefs, physical symptoms, and specific memories * Gratitude as a superpower: Research-backed benefits and how to pair it with tapping for deeper change * From stuck to steady:* Questions that uncover the hidden “upside” of staying stuck

They explore why hyper-independence keeps us stuck, how to start receiving support without shame, and simple, practical shifts that move you from daily band-aids to real, sustainable change.
If you’ve been “holding it together” but feel fried, this conversation is your invitation to step out of performance mode and into true healing.

Shannon welcomes licensed professional counselor and founder of Collective Therapy & Wellness, Alyssa Scarano, LPC. Alyssa blends psychotherapy with mindfulness and yoga to help people heal childhood wounds, interrupt generational patterns, and build relationships that begin within. Together they unpack why we feel “connected” yet lonely, how regulation makes empathy possible, and simple ways to model resilience for our kids. If you’ve wondered why you keep reacting the same way—or how to meet big feelings without blowing up or shutting down—this one will help.

• Childhood roles that quietly shape adult dynamics
• Blending talk therapy with somatics, breath, and mindfulness
Time-Stamped Guide
00:00 — Welcome & why whole-human healing matters
01:30 — Alyssa’s path: from feeling alone to building a sanctuary
05:10 — Therapy × yoga: somatics as lived practice
08:30 — A “privilege lens” for clinical work: reverence and care
12:05 — Connected yet lonely: the cost of speed and surface
19:50 — Modeling discomfort tolerance at home

• Patterns are practiced; tiny experiments create change.
• Model the hard stuff—kids learn resilience by watching repair.

Today’s episode is one of the most raw, real, and powerful conversations we’ve had on The Motion of Gratitude Podcast. Shannon sits down with Joe Smarro, a decorated Marine Corps combat veteran, nationally recognized mental health advocate, and CEO of SolutionPoint+. You may recognize him from the Emmy Award–winning HBO documentary Ernie & Joe: Crisis Cops or his TEDx talk, I See You.
But this conversation goes far deeper than credentials.
Joe shares the story behind his mission — the childhood trauma he survived, the systems he once believed in, and the turning point that brought him face-to-face with his own suffering. What unfolds is a deeply moving look at what it really takes to come back to yourself, take full ownership of your life, and help others do the same.
From surviving sexual abuse and combat trauma to transforming police departments and creating a nationally recognized mental health training model — Joe’s story is a testament to the human spirit.
This is a must-listen for anyone who has ever felt broken, stuck, unseen, or afraid to feel.
🧠 We explore:
🔥 One of our favorite quotes from Joe:
“I’ve learned to become grateful for the things I wish never happened.”

In this deeply personal and eye-opening episode, Shannon sits down with Brianna Riser, VP of Experience at Toothpillow—a mission-driven company reimagining how we support oral posture and healthy jaw development in children.
What starts as a conversation about dental health turns into something much deeper: a look at how chronic mouth breathing, disrupted sleep, and underdeveloped facial structure can quietly affect our children’s well-being—and how gentle, proactive intervention can support more than just teeth.
Shannon shares her family’s own journey using Toothpillow with her daughter, including the subtle and powerful changes they’ve already seen. Together, she and Brianna break down what every parent should know about jaw development, the link between sleep and behavior, and why it’s not just about fixing a smile—it’s about supporting the whole child.

In this thought-provoking conversation, Shannon sits down with Dr. Lee Humphreys—professor at Cornell University, researcher, and author of The Qualified Self—to explore how our digital habits reflect deeper human needs for connection, identity, and meaning. Together, they unpack the emotional weight of social media, how platforms shape our lives, and what it really means to engage with technology intentionally.
Dr. Humphreys offers a powerful reframe: what if social media isn’t inherently good or bad—but simply a mirror? A tool we can use mindfully, just as we've used diaries, scrapbooks, and photographs for generations.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by digital life or simply curious about how to use media more consciously, this episode offers grounding insights, practical guidance, and a refreshing reminder that presence is always possible—even online.
In this episode, we explore:
• 🌱 The historical roots of social sharing and why they matter today
• 💡 The role of social media in identity, memory, and connection
• 🧠 Mindful media use as a tool for well-being (not comparison or overwhelm)
• 📱 AI, communication, and how to stay human in a digital world

Sometimes we can think of careers as only one way to go about doing them. Take a CPA for example. Most people would think of them as being behind a desk, going into an office, living the "typical" lifestyle. Well that is not the case for my guest today, Penny Rose.
She is a CPA for content creators. Her passion is for creatives in the RV and personal finance space. She and her husband have RV’d full time, stationary, for over three years and started full time Rving in June! She is passionate about helping content creators who want to turn their side hustle into a full time business. She is thankful for the opportunities that have evolved the last few years where Working from home lead her to start her own business and see that there is more than one way to do business.
In this episode we talk about thinking outside the box when it comes to living and careers, how she decided to move forward and start her own business while living full time in in her RV and sharing some insights into how she helps RVers and content creators treat their business like a real business through their flexible way of living.
I hope you enjoy!

Parenting is a huge responsibility, and it can sometimes feel like we are put in a massive predicament. We are given access to so much information that can sometimes be on completely different sides of the spectrum, yet it can feel like if we question any of it, we get labeled or seen as "crazy.". As a parent it gets frustrating, and Matthew and I wanted to have a real conversation around it.
In this episode we dive into:
- some predicaments we feel like we are put in as parents/ we personally have felt on our parenting journey
- how we try to do our own research and ask the questions that need to be asked
- insights into how we can continue to have open and honest conversations as parents
- and how we as a family make choices that align for us, even if they don't follow the decisions being made by the masses.
As a reminder, this is our personal opinion, and we believe, and hope that this point is reiterated over and over again throughout this episode, that every parent should be entitled to their opinion and have space to make decisions that work best for themselves and their families.
If you find yourself in a space where it doesn't feel aligned for you and your family to take everything at face value, you have questions but feel like you aren't being fully supporting in asking them, take a listen. And as always feel free to reach out if anything resonates.
Best,
Shannon & Matthew

High school sweethearts, perfect family, excelling career, extravagant trips, a beautiful home, Gina and Alex seemed to have it all—until the vacation that changed everything.
Gina received two types of news no woman wants to hear:
“I’ve been having multiple affairs throughout the past fifteen years.”
“You have stage 2 breast cancer.”
The confession from her husband and the diagnosis from her doctor blew up Gina’s world.
The truth is we all receive unwanted news at some point in our lives.
Despite the tragedies, Gina found a way forward. On this episode, Gina shares the impact that she has had to support Breast Cancer research, how she continued to turn towards her family, even when it felt like hope was lost and how her relationship with God guided her through.
Gina Tronco was born and raised in Albany, NY. She considers her faith and her family to be the most important things to her. After receiving a cancer diagnosis at the age of forty-two, she found herself even more immersed in her faith and being of service to others who have also been diagnosed. Her inspirational message and love for people can be found throughout every community that knows her. She has participated in various charity events and was named Albany’s 2023 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Visionary of the Year having raised almost $1 million for cancer research and is now in the running for National Visionary of the Year.
At a very young age, Gina cultivated a love for music and helping her friends and family. If she wasn't working in the family business, you could find her playing classical piano or volunteering her musical talents for her high school's chorus and theatrical performances. Gina's passion for music led her to pursue her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from The College of St. Rose, and she later became a music teacher. She enjoyed being a cheerleader throughout high school and college where she met some of her lifelong friends. Gina married her husband Alex in 1999 and decided to stay home and be a mom to their three children, Julia, Bella, and Olivia, starting in 2001, with that role being her proudest achievement and divine purpose in life.
She currently resides in Albany with her husband Alex, her three daughters, Julia 22, Isabella 20 and Olivia 18, and their dogs Leo, Knox and Quentin.
Why is This Happening to me is Gina’s first book which is now available on Amazon!

I don't know if I can say it any clearer, but the day to day intentional choices that we make have a MASSIVE impact on our lives. My hope in sharing my experience and the impact that it has had on my life, is that we can all see that if we are in a phase where we can't do the retreat, take the week away, make the massive shifts, that by choosing to make little choices every day, it is enough to change our current reality and shift our life.
After five years of being on the river, choosing a consistent, slower pace to my healing and self-discovery, I had an opportunity to go on my own waterfall. If you haven't listened to our first episode where Matthew and I talk about his experience with the plant medicine Ayuhuasca at Rythmia in Costa Rica, take a listen. We share Matthew's experience and talk a lot about the journeys in which you can explore what it means to feel conscious and to live in a conscious state in your own life. Well, my time had come to experience my own waterfall. I had the opportunity to go to Rythmia and have my own plant medicine experience during their women's week, called Majesty Week.
In this episode, we dive into my experience at Rythmia (include details about the actual nights in the medicine), the impact it had that week, and the impact it has had since, and the ongoing conversation around different modalities in which to find consciousness and be present.
I am so Grateful for the week that I had, for the incredible women that I experienced it with, and for the ongoing journey of self-discovery that keeps me on this journey pursuing Gratosis.
If you are curious about plant medicine, or looking for an incredibly intentional, safe space in which to explore it, Rythmia is the place to go. Learn more here Rythmia Life Advancement Center | #1 Spiritual Retreat and reach out if I can answer any of your questions.
I hope you all have a beautiful day today!

This April 2023 we had the opportunity to spend the entire month in Costa Rica as our family of five. It was our first opportunity to travel outside of the country together as a family and truly dive into a new culture.
In this episode we share insights in
- where we traveled
- how it isn't always perfect traveling with little kids
- why we continue to travel even after things are "returning to normal"
- Finding Dandelion Wild Schooling in Nosara, Costa Rica (short and long term bilingual holistic Educational Program (spoiler: its a truly magical space!!)
- and some other fun topics and things that came up while we were traveling.
No real agenda, but if you wanted to listen in to some of our dialogue, hear what we have been up to, and get some insights on Costa Rica take a listen!

We all have them. Those moments in our lives that makes us sit so deeply to explore things in our life. What happens when we take that pain and turn it into purpose?
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Liv Ryan on this week's episode. Liv Ryan is a business coach and yoga teacher + retreat leader from Iowa. It's her passion to help women embrace their gifts, connect with their vision and live with purpose, clarity and joy.
Ever heard of holy yoga? In this Episode we talk through what brought Liv to holy yoga (and what it is!), how it impacted her life, brought her grounding in a time of darkness, and how her experience with yoga led to finding clarity and peace in her own life, so much so that it led to helping other women do the same through coaching.
As mothers we put so much on our plates and forget that in our fullness, we bring that fullness to our families, our loved ones and everyone around us. If you want to hear two mothers, women and passionate individuals share how powerful it is to take ownership, find the present moment and experience the good even through the hard, take a listen!
If you want to follow along on Liv's journey you can find her @livhoperyan on IG and find more about her classes and retreats at www.livryan.com.

Brooke and I got a chance to sit down and talk about transitioning from a career that feels like a forever, starting a new business from a passion project, and choosing to live life as a family in a different lane (In an RV!). If you are a mother who is feeling a pull to do something differently but not seeing how you can make it work, take a listen. Brooke is a beautiful example of trusting her intuition and bringing dreams to live while living in the moment.
In 2015, Brooke Happe stepped away from her dream job. She was practicing as a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and was working in the career she had spent a decade training for. But with two young kids at home and another on the way, she realized her heart was yearning to be home with my family. Right before her daughter was born, she left her job and became a full-time mom.
In 2016, she started a business without meaning to. She started crocheting to keep her hands strong, intending to go back to practice one day. Then she realized the hat she designed to hide her greasy mom hair could help other moms feel put together too.
When people started asking where she got my slouch hat, she tarted selling the beanies locally. b.e.happe was born.
In 2019 Brooke knew her kiddos weren’t going to be kids forever. But instead of spending time together, they felt stuck in the monotony of their daily routines. That’s when Brooke and her husband sold their home and all their belongings and moved into a 41ft 5th wheel and hit the road full time.
Brooke and I got a chance to sit down and talk about walking away from a career that feels like a forever, starting a new business from a passion project, and choosing to live life as a family in a different lane (In an RV!). If you are a mother who is feeling a pull to do something differently but not seeing how you can make it work, take a listen. In this podcast, we will be discussing how gratitude can be utilized as a tool during times of fear and worry. Our guest today is Katie Kershner, a Health coach focused on supporting individuals during their busy season of life. This is our second conversation around Gratitude and its impact in our day today lives. Katie and I talk abou personal experiences around how having a daily Gratitude practice allowed us to show up differently in our life and utilize the tools practiced to have a different perspective of intense situations.
The sound was a bit funky from my end, but the conversation felt like it needed to be shared. So hoping that you can take what you need from it and the sound quality doesnt take away from your experience.
Key takeaways:

Welcome to the second recording that Matthew and I have done together. We decided that in this episode we wanted to talk about what happens when your foundation gets rocked. So many times we are able to talk about what we were able to do AFTER we go through an intense phase of life, but we don't always let people see the messier, confusing part. Although we are looking back on our experiences, we wanted to share the not so pretty side of change and questioning that has happened for us to get to this point of living life differently. It wasn't as easy as waking up one day, having a clear direction and not having any confusion, sadness or fear along the way. Those all still exist. Here we both share our stories of when in our lives that our foundations got rocked, what it felt like, what it looked like and what it lead to. We hope that in sharing our experiences if you feel like you are in that chapter of your foundation getting rocked, you will know you are not alone. And maybe there may be some thoughts or experiences that might help you on your journey.
We hope you enjoy.

We've all heard in our life "just trust your intuition." But have we ever taken time to really understand what our intiution is, or HOW we can start to trust it?
I had the pleasure of talking with Tara Soto Regester, the host of A Mother's Intuition Podcast and a practitioner who specializes in highly intuitive children.
Throughout the podcast, we talked about what actually is a mother's intuition and why we as mothers aren't always encouraged to listen to it (especially if it doesn't follow the status quo).
Tara shared her story of how trusting her own intuition when her son Dominic, who was 5 at the time seemed to be a loose cannon. Blowing up and lashing out spontaneously at things like meeting a new a person or being in the presence of certain foods. He became very tenacious about escaping school and scaling the walls. Psychologist after psychologist began throwing out diagnosis’ but in the same breath admitting to not knowing how to help. And then a hard stop came when Dominic became suicidal in the beginning months of kindergarten. As a family they stepped out of the rat race and began to deeply explore every crevice of how they could have a suicidal five year old. As Tara explored and searched for answers, they didn't come from traditional avenues, like doctors and pediatricians, but clarity started to come from practitioners who understood energy and lead her to a Reiki Master who explained energy and began to ask exact questions pertaining to how Dominic navigated the world. Her belief in how she perceived her children and her world turned.
Tara learned so much through her experience, which no road map existed for and she hopes to show what magic can happen when we follow our own intuition about the connection that might be the deepest connection we have ever known with another person. The connection between a parent and child

A life lived in Pursuit of Gratosis is a life fully felt and lived consciously. It is through the experience of life that we can find Gratitude and appreciation for life in a way that we might otherwise miss. Today's episode I am so excited to introduce you to my husband Matthew. Our journeys to live life consciously and to be present in our lives have been unique in our approach, yet both have gotten us to the same outcome. In this episode we dive deep into the approaches that we took, Shannon being the river, a slower more day to day approach to intentional living and being present, and Matthew the waterfall, diving into his experience with Ayuhuasca and the impact it has had in his life and ours as a couple.
We explore what consciousness means to us individually, as a couple and how we hope to support others on their journey through The Motion of Gratitude.
We hope you enjoy this episode, and it is the beginning of many more to come!

In order to chart our own course, we need a vehicle in which to do it. Whether you are looking to start a movement, have an impact on the world, or support yourself and your family, the vehicle that you choose to pursue that purpose has a massive impact.
I had the joy to sit down with Jaime Lynn Curley, Founder of The Tailor Made Life. Jaime Lynn shared her story of working in a career that she loved and was incredibly passionate about until the day came that she realized that she was missing so much of her life with her little babies. She was getting on the train early in the morning to go from Philadelphia to New York City and was missing all the milestones that she always dreamed of being a part of.
She was introduced to a product that helped her physically and mentally and she realized that she had an opportunity to shift the direction of her life by partnering with a Network Marketing company to build a business of her own. She knew that she had to make a choice to make a change and she has spent the last 8 years building a successful business in the Health and Beauty industry.
As someone who is not in network marketing yet has had a wonderful experience with the products and the professionals in the industry it was a pleasure to talk with Jaime Lynn about the business, the opportunities that it provides, and how business as we know it is shifting. Networking marketing can be the vehicle to life a live of purpose and passion, it's what you chose to do with it.
I hope you enjoy this conversation with Jaime Lynn! If you want to learn more about Jaime Lynn or follow along to her story you can find her on social media @jaimelynncurley

For everyone out there looking to learn more about the beautiful voice behind the meditations for The Experience, I am overjoyed to introduce you to Jaki Reynolds! Jaki has been a yoga and meditation student and teacher for over 15 years and brings a beautiful perspective of what meditation truly is.
In this conversation Jaki shares her story of how she got into yoga and meditation and the impact it has had in her life. We took time to discuss the individual meditations that we chose for The Experience, to give you a feel of what to expect as well as to give a better understanding of how these meditations tie into the intentional Gratitude initiative.
If you are someone who has shied away from meditation, said its not for you, or you are wanting to learn why it is so meaningful in a daily practice (especially for moms with little kids!) this is a must listen!
I hope you enjoy!

I had the honor and opportunity to sit down and interview Genevieve King, the Founder and CEO of Origins Curriculum. Origins Curriculum is the homeschool curriculum that we are using for our family and is rooted in an understanding of mindfulness and ecoliteracy in early education.
Geneveve has over 25 years experience in early childhood education and an extensive background in sustainability. Genevieve decided to combine her passion for teaching children with her expertise in the principles of sustainability with the opening of Origins Education in 2011 and Origins now has 4 brick and mortar locations with the 5th on the way.
By supporting children in fostering a solid intellectual, emotional, social and physical connection to the earth, Genevieve believes that we develop an understanding of our place in the eco-systems of life as well as gaining a love for life-long learning. She created an eco-literacy and mindfulness curriculum that is both play-based and place-based and is honored to teach young children about the earth, it’s fascinating cycles and how to respect and care for it and all of its inhabitants.
Throughout the episode you will hear Genevieve's story of how Origins Education and Curriculum came to be. Our conversation explores the impact ecoliteracy and mindfulness has for the early years of our children's lives and how it can help shape and positively impact the next generation.
If you are looking for a homeschool curriculum OR looking to supplement the learning that your children are currently learning- This is a MUST listen! Also, for more information about the offerings of Origins, check out Origins Curriculum - Pre K and Homeschool Conscious Curriculum.

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a beautiful holiday season. This year I wanted to start out by sharing some thoughts on the year ahead. If you were on social media during the week between Christmas and New Years just about everyone was sharing their word for 2023. I told myself I wasn't going to do it, but then remembered how my word of 2022 stuck with me last year, and really drove so many of my choices and thoughts and so I had to think it through. I couldn't keep you guessing what the word was and felt the need to share it. My word for 2023 is Intention. Intentional choices became the catalyst to truly living my life, not just being on autopilot. I wanted to share a space where I went into how I plan to use intention in 2023 (especially as a mom!) and how it has guided me in the past.
I hope you enjoy!

In this Episode I interview Katie Kershner, she is an RN, Wellness Coach and owner of Scrub with Purpose. Her goal is to help busy, drained, and stressed-out women become the best healthy version of themselves. Katie and I share a deep belief in the impact of Gratitude and how powerful it is as a tool, ESPECIALLY as a mother with kids and we wanted to dive into it in a real way and share our stories.
In this Episode Katie opens up and shares her story of how Gratitude was the antidote to anxiety during a really intense time in her motherhood journey and how she continues to use it in her life, and how she supports her clients in her wellness business to slow down and do the same.
Obviously, we had a lot to talk about (I can talk Gratitude and Motherhood all day every day!) and I truly enjoyed the time of just having real conversations about how truly important it is to talk care of yourself as a mother and to put ourselves at the top of our to do list. If you are a mother in a chapter who feels overwhelmed, lost, stressed, or like you are becoming a shell of yourself this episode it for you. We have both been there and truly feel like there are simple tools that are overlooked to support you on your motherhood journey. They may not solve it all, but it could be the gateway that you need to move in a new direction.
We hope that in this conversation you can find peace and know you are not alone, and maybe give you the permission you need to slow down, take care of yourself and be present through the beauty and chaos of raising your babies.
You can connect with Katie Kershner at www.katiewellness.com on IG @katie.kershner.5 or www.Scrubwithpurpose.com
We will be taking a break until the new year, and look forward to reconnecting in the New Year! Happy Holidays and Happiest of New Years to you and yours!

For me, motherhood made me realize that there were sometimes in my life where I am in an environment that I cannot change (or may not want to change), and it may not be the external that needs to change, but the internal PERSPECTIVE that needs a shift.
In this episode I dive into how once I realized the impact that my perspective had on many of motherhood situations, it changed so much of my motherhood journey and how I viewed the day to day.
If you are in a state of motherhood where you feel stuck, or you feel like you can't control the external environment, I hope that this podcast can provide you with some thoughts on how shifting your internal environment might be everything that you need in order to feel better, calmer and more at peace with your current situation.

As a mother it is always such a gift to meet teachers who are impacting the next generation in such a beautiful way! I had the opportunity to talk with Maria Bolner. She is a gifted resource teacher at West Chester East High School in Pennsylvania. Following the pandemic, Maria took it upon herself to support her students beyond the day to day expectations & help provide them with tools to navigate the intense time of not only high school, but returning to school after the pandemic.
And the tool that Maria utilized was Gratitude. She shares stories of how utilizing Gratitude impacted her students throughout the year, as well as how it impacted her ability to connect with her students on a different level.
Maria provides great insights for teachers who might be looking for tools to support their students social and emotional learning and how this little change can have a huge impact.
If you are a parent, I hope (like it did for me!) it brings peace knowing there are wonderful teachers out there like Maria who are choosing to make a difference beyond the day to day for their students. I hope you enjoy this episode!
Best,
Shannon
As a small business owner, who is looking to build a business that is sustainable, both in product and in brand, marketing has always been an interesting spot for me. I get the importance of the bottom line, and selling your products, but the traditional way of selling doesn't resonate with me. I had the opportunity to meet Audrey about a year ago and we just connected on our values. Since we met, she has started her own marketing agency with a focus entirely on ethical marketing.
In this episode Audrey and I dig into what is ethical marketing, how to use it in your small business and why it is so beneficial in this world where consumers are looking for authenticity and true quality in the products they are purchasing.
I loved sitting down with Audrey and I hope that if you are starting a business, or running a small business and you are looking for marketing support in a way that more closely aligns with your brand, that you will take a listen!
You can find Audreys company, Sentient Marketing at Sentient Marketing | Digital Marketing Agency for Conscious Brands or on Social Media @sentient.marketing
Hope you enjoy!
Best,
Shannon
Todays Episode is all about building your own conviction as a mother. We are not always encouraged to trust our gut or do what "feels" right, especially as a mom. Time and time again, the decisions that I make that are intentional where I trust myself are the ones that take me exactly where I am meant to go.
This episode dives into how I have built conviction over the years to make choices that don't always align with the way the rest of the world is making them.
All the best,
Shannon
Hello! I hope you all are having a beautiful week! It is Episode 6 of In Pursuit of Gratosis® and this episode I am getting a little vulnerable. My journey of truly living life looking for the things that bring me joy and create moments of Gratitude has required a lot of soul searching and self understanding. And becoming a stay at home mom, it was the first time in my life that I wasn't given a playbook. With that came a lot of uncertainty and truly needing to redefine what success looked like in my life.
In this Episode I share my journey to redefine success, share my background of how I defined success prior to being a stay at home mom (spoiler alert $ was a huge motivator) and what I did to shift my perspective on success.
If you are a SAHM who might be feeling the same way, and needing to redefine success for yourself, I hope you take a listen!
All the Best!
Shannon
We have our first official guest on In Pursuit of Gratosis, and it couldn't be more fitting! I am so excited to introduce you all to Audie Hasse. Audie is a functional medicine dietitian and the owner of Rooted Well Nutrition. In the podcast Audie shares insight and details into how she teaches her clients how to use their mindset, diet and lifestyle to optimize their health, live well and feel their very best.
I have had the opportunity to experience life with Audie more closely than most relationships because she is my cousin! Watching her navigate life both in her career and motherhood and be along for the journey has been inspiring to me, and I know that if you are on the journey to find true health and well-being you will find inspiration in this episode as well!
Along with all things functional nutrition we also discuss motherhood and how the motherhood journey has impacted our professional ambitions and purpose. Come join us for a down to earth, friendly conversation about health, well-being and motherhood. I hope you enjoy.

It's been four years since I started having an intentional daily Gratitude practice and as you might have caught on by now the impact it has had on my life is hard to ignore and something I want to share! So no more secrets, here it is!! In this episode I share who this might resonate with (because it's not for everyone!), how my routine started and how it has evolved through newborn babies, change in routine, living on an RV and now in a phase where I have more time on my hands.
Check it out! If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message on IG @shannonmissimer, @themotionofgratitude or good old fashion email shannon@themofg.com
Have a beautiful day!

I hope you enjoyed Episode 2 that went into detail about the changes that I felt with getting intentional with my Gratitude practice. Today's episode is all about the science behind the changes. With all the changes I was starting to feel I had to do my own research to better understand what was happening in my body that made me feel so different. And the research is pretty incredible! In the same way I broke down the different areas that I felt a shift, I used those same categories to dive more into the science.
As a reminder I am not a scientist :) my intention is to share research that I found after experiencing a shift in my life and wanting to share the research to help others learn more about it. As I reference in the podcast there is a great podcast done by Andrew Huberman (The Huberman Lab) who is a true scientist (He is a neurobiologist and Opthamologist at Standord) and if you need to hear more details check out his podcast! (The Science of Gratitude & How to Build a Gratitude Practice | Huberman Lab Podcast #47 - YouTube)
Thank you and I hope you enjoy todays episode!
Hello and welcome to Episode 2! This one is a two-part series of the changes I felt and the science behind it. After the last episode I wanted to dive into the changes that I felt from getting intentional with Gratitude. I think it's easy to say it changed my life, but I want to share what I felt, where I saw the shifts and the feelings that came with the practice. In this episode I break down how Gratitude impacted my physical health + Sleep, clarity and focus and purpose. This episode really goes into the detail of how it played out in my life personally & check out the next eposide to dive more into the science behind it all!
ahhh it is officially the first episode of In Pursuit of Gratosis®! I am so excited to be sharing this with you! My name is Shannon Missimer. It's sometimes hard to describe who you are in a short bio, but right now I spend most of my time as a wife, mother and an entrepreneur building my business The Motion of Gratitude. As you can tell from the name of my company, Gratitude has played a massive part in my life, so much so that I am on a mission to help other people feel the impact of it in their own life. I started the podcast as a place to share my stories and experiences with Gratitude and the impact it has had for me. It has encouraged me to live life differently and I want to share stories of other individuals who have done the same. In addition to having a place to talk with professionals who have provided incredible research around Gratitude.
Todays Episode is all about Gratosis. You might be thinking- never heard of it. Well thats because we made it up :) Today I am here to share the story of What is Gratosis, how it came to be, and how its time to start getting some positive diagnosis in our lives instead of always hearing the negative.
Take a listen, I hope you enjoy!
