Join Macalester senior Hufsa as she explains her experience as a 2023 Frederick Douglass Global Fellow (FDGF). As the flagship program of the Council on International Educational Exchange, FDGF selects a small cohort of undergraduate students of color to embark on an international experience. This most recent cohort (that Hufsa and I both had the privilege to be a part of) traveled from D.C. to South Africa to Ireland, examining different leadership and social justice strategies. Students studied the legacies of influential leaders like Frederick Douglass, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Daniel O'Connell, and more.
