How do you create a community of 8000 women who love sports? It all began unwittingly in 2017, in Bangalore, India. What was assumed would be a one-off session for a handful of friends, turned out to be a 15-women-strong, super-successful event! Now with multiple sports formats including football, basketball, swimming, badminton, dance, etc,. the community is spread across Bombay, Delhi, and Bangalore. At the helm of Sisters in Sweat, you have Swetha Subbaiah, an authority on fitness and one of India’s 4 Nike certified coaches. Why is there so much misinformation around health? What's broken in health care in India? How can it be fixed?
This has been a top of my mind for a long time and the reason to have this podcast with Dr Abby Philip. I've to say this upfront. This conversation is not to prove anything good or bad. But to establish some tools and frameworks that everyone can use to create their own guard rail for health.
This is a 3.5hr+ podcast. I don't expect you to listen or watch it at one go. Maybe you should not. But when you finish, do make an attempt to relay your thoughts to improve the scientific temperament of people around us. That will improve their understanding of health.
Dr. Abby Philips is a specialist in Hepatology and Liver Transplant. He did his MBBs , MD & DM and is the presidents gold medal winner for academic excellence. He has 200+ research papers published to him.
But there is an interesting other side of him.
He is known as TheLiverDoc on Twitter for his work as a crusader against all sort of misinformation on health and pseudoscience. He is a father of three an avid gamer and a graphic novel enthusiast🙂 Follow his work on Twitter https://lnkd.in/gHqX2jQDThere is a lot we discussed:
There are a lot to takeways from this conversation and I hope this is useful to you.
