When the Israelites leave, everyone knows now who Yaweh is. When that name was unknown before, it is now spoken of in hushed whispers of reverence, or angry whispers of resentment toward Pharaoh.
Today covers the moment that creates the identity that will span thousands of years for the nation of Israel.
When the nile runs red but the king's magicians know how to do it too. You can get hung up on the how, or eat some popcorn and watch gods fight.

After a short break we're back with one of the more complicated character in our lineup:Jacob.From his origins as a mirror image of the serpent in the garden to his disastrous effects on his family, he is a singular man with a multitude of effects on the world, and on discussions surrounding ethics.
This is really important.Don't try and worship the God that God isn't.Because then you're worshipping your own imagination, and that is problematic.
This is probably one of the best known stories about Abraham.He was perfectly okie dokie with sacrificing his only son because God said so.Huh?
It's still no laughing matter. But along the way we discover an important question. Does God change His mind because we ask Him or was His plan to change the plan when we encounter the plan?
It's really important to look at humans in the Bible, not through the lens of "Black hat" and "White hat" but as people. The "protagonists" in the stories are hardly virtuous in perpetuity, and the "antagonists" are not without redeemable realities.God, however, holds up as a consistent protagonist and the people He serves and saves are absolutely fascinating.
Enter Abram. Abraham.Abe.Creation through Abraham's parents got eleven chapters of the Bible. Abram/Abraham will have twelve. He's a man of consequence so let's use him as a foil for study, first to study the Bible as a view of God, and secondly as a way to understand the role of mankind in relationship to God.
Concluding the lesson with students about how to read the Bible, we also discuss how to prepare a space emotionally, mentally, and audibly for the best possible chance to approach Scripture and, even then, be content that some answers will not be immediate in satisfactory answers.
We're kicking off the new year with Andy and Damien taking the show on the road in front of actual people. Youth people, to be exact. In part 1 we will talk about a 3 step approach to studying the Bible and preparing the mind for a fuller experience.
