The Progressive Students’ Forum has constantly been working towards attaining clarity and demanding proper facilities, including hostel accommodation from the administration. As a part of this effort, PSF had submitted a detailed charter of demands to the administration via mail, which demanded clarity regarding the hostel allocation process and accommodation for all students, in addition to other crucial needs. In response to the communication, the TISS administration released a notification regarding the accommodation eligibility criteria. The notification released yesterday, however, is extremely distressing for the student community as it essentially departs from the earlier practices and reduces the quantum of accommodation available for students, leaving the bulk of them at the mercy of the rapacious real estate market of Mumbai.
We strongly condemn the change in accommodation policy which essentially amounts to profiteering. The notification also gives no clarity whatsoever about the process of application to the hostels by the students. The ambiguity regarding the process has put the students in a dilemma. The administration must provide accommodation to all while also making the application and selection process transparent. PSF demands the administration to not abdicate its responsibility of providing affordable accommodation to students, and not putting the burden on the students.

PSF-TISS once again demand the TISS administration to conduct a full-scale student election at the beginning of the next semester. To this end, the administration must immediately constitute the student-run Election Committee to oversee the upcoming semester's elections. We demand that the administration pay heed to the basic right of the student community to have representation, have their voices heard and make the Student Aid process transparent, and resolve to continue our struggle till the rightful demands of the student community are met.

The reopening guidelines issued by the TISS Administration on February 14, 2022, is grossly indifferent to the concerns raised of the student community that were raised by PSF in our letter to the Admin on February 10, 2022. It appears that the TISS administration is only interested in levying hefty fees and creating more restrictive spaces on the campus.
We appeal to the student community to help us identify various issues relating to the reopening exercise. The Progressive Students Forum shall continue to be watchful of, and raise voice against all the unnecessary restrictions of TISS administration that hampers student interest during their stay on the campus.

TISS admin must note that the student community can see through their agendas and none of their diversionary tactics would stand our patience. PSF calls upon the student community to stand in solidarity to ensure that we are not made scapegoats in this apathetic approach of TISS admin.

Progressive Students' Forum-TISS has taken the initiative to assist students in their UGC NET/JRF preparation by conducting a tutorial session on Paper One of the exam like previous years.
The aim of the tutorial is to help students in adverse circumstances, given that the exam is positioned at a time when the student community is dealing with the aftermath of the pandemic, the limitations posed by the online mode of learning and the increasing uncertainty and apprehensions regarding the third wave of the pandemic.
We hope the recording of the session will help you to crack the exam.
All the best for your attempt!

CELEBRATING 10th ANNIVERSARY YEAR OF PSF-TISS
A small step forward, a long way ahead for the students
On this day, we would like to announce that PSF will be celebrating its 10th anniversary throughout the year, by conducting more academic and other socio-political events, building more solidarity among students and mobilising more students under the banner to fight all forms of discrimination and exploitation within the classrooms and on the streets. At this milestone, the secretariat of PSF would like to thank, congratulate and salute each and every member, pioneers who paved the way ahead, all students and fellow travellers who have been with the organisation, all individuals who joined us on various occasions in these nine years of our journey in building and strengthening the organisation.
Students’ Unity Long Live. Inquilab Zindabad. Red Salutes.
