Moving from one database to another is easy - just create tables, move the data and connect.

It's easy, right? Well, it's not...

Let us show you what it actually takes to migrate a large legacy system that was optimized to work on Oracle for over 20 years.

In this talk, we will be sharing our experiences and learning opportunities with you. We will give a high level overview of the why, what’s and how, and give some examples of things that worked good and not so good

Was it easy? - No...

Was it doable? - Absolutely!

You will learn about:

  • Reasons to switch database
  • Example of Proceedo migration project and results
  • Lessons learned and how such projects could be done better

What will you find in this Talk:

  • Application scaling can be challenging

  • What options are there for scaling a database?

  • A closer look at using read replicas

Application scaling can be challenging, database throughput often emerging as a bottleneck. This talk briefly introduces a few different solutions for this problem and their trade-offs. The option of using read replicas is then explored in more detail and shown how it was applied to the Tripletex system.

About the speaker: Zsolt is currently working on Tripletex as Tech Lead, responsible for practices, architecture, frameworks.

He is rarely satisfied with a solution and aims to find the balance between a pragmatic approach and exploring new, interesting ways and solutions.

We, developers, have tools and techniques that ensure we follow the best security guidelines when writing code. But what if the code we write and the logic we build is not what will be executed?

In this TechTalk:

In this presentation we will look at the application security beyond coding. I will present the SolarWinds supply chain attack and how hackers were able to control the application delivery pipeline and inject malware.

We will be looking at the source code injected and analyze the safety measures they took to prevent being discovered by the product delivery team.

We'll conclude by reflecting on the attack vectors and lessons learned.

This tech talk aims to show an understandable, straightforward use case of AI and optimization applied to a problem that most of us are familiar with.

Have you ever invited friends and family to a wedding or other big dinner party? Then you have probably faced the problem of seating these guests in an optimal way so that all of your guests end up having a good time.

First, we'll show how such a problem can be modeled mathematically and solved using AI and optimization.

Next, we create a scalable cloud service that takes a problem definition as input and outputs a solution.

Finally, we reflect upon the potential of this type of service, how we utilize this in Visma today, and how you can proceed to get started yourself!
