We have the mind-set that self-promotion is self-serving, and therefore distasteful. Even if we attempt to talk about our accomplishments and take credit for our success, doing this with confidence and conviction is challenging. Why? How do we develop this skill then?
It is important to see that self-promotion is a leadership skill. It is your responsibility to talk about what you and your team have achieved, not only for your own benefit, but also for the team and the company. It’s how to create influence. It’s how you sell your ideas across the organization. It’s the basis of building relationships with key stakeholders and gaining access to the power networks.
Kevin Britz is joined by Meenakshhi Iyer the founder of NorthStar Solutions and they discuss self-promotion as a leadership skill. HUMILITY IS NOT THINKING LESS OF YOURSELF, IT'S THINKING OF YOURSEL LESS!

How you speak and treat yourself is exactly how you will speak and treat those who work and live with you. Self- promotion is an important leadership skill. When you get outside of your comfort zone and talk about yourself, you learn how to inspire others to engage in your work. Real change happens when you bring other people along for the journey.

Human-Centered leadership is fairly simple: leadership that puts people first. But what does this look like on a daily basis? Being human-centered shapes our communication style, our mindset, and our sense of trust. It changes how we approach problems and think about advancement. It also calls on us to shift priorities and make employee well-being a strategic imperative, particularly in the face of employee burnout, quiet quitting and other working stresses.
The term “human-centered leadership” may seem redundant, as the whole idea of leading is to deal with people. But "traditional" leadership is all about performance, profitability, deadlines, projects, status reports, and results. Human-centered leadership, on the other hand, puts people first and makes success happen with people, not despite them. Ultimately, this leadership style acknowledges that fostering employee wellbeing can also lead to better business outcomes.
But what does a human-centered culture look like? Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee, hosts of our weekly Lunchtime Marketing & Leadership show frankly discuss this and offer some insight and guidance to leaders.

Our staff have all changed over the last 2 years, they have found new ways to do things. We can no longer base performance on time and location, now we have to base it on outcomes. Having said that, there are very difficult conversations that are taking place.
How do we as business leaders approach these conversations?
How do we grow and develop our teams and not demoralize and dictate?
How do we become more inclusive and encourage these difficult conversations?
Kevin Britz is joined by Colleen-Joy Page and share insights of the current leadership landscape and how leaders can be assisted into changing, growing and learning from the various discussions and decisions being made and how to navigate through this with positivity and good outcomes.

Is your business struggling to turn quick growth into sustainable business? Can Direct To Consumer (DTC) marketing work if you simplify the value chain and can you build a sustainable business?
Working with established retailers definitely has its perks – but if you’re focused on building a strong brand, you don’t need to rely on retailers at all. If you’d rather go it alone, direct-to-consumer (DTC) marketing provides a strong path forward. DTC brands are exceedingly popular among Millennials, Gen Z, and other audiences who are principled, deal-savvy, and spend plenty of time online. This is because direct-to-consumer products thrive in the open, digital marketplace, instead of being placed next to a competing product on a retailer’s cluttered shelf.
However, enjoying the benefits of direct-to-consumer marketing will require new marketing skills and capabilities that can match or exceed the power of retailers. Let’s dive into the benefits of marketing directly to consumers and uncover how certain DTC brands became an unmitigated success. Join Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee, hosts of our Thursday Marketing & Leadership show and they delve into the various layers of this and help you find your way in your Direct to Consumer marketing journey.
Some key benefits to DTC: * Greater control * Better understand your customer * Faster time-to-market * Better margins

Am I happy? What am I expecting? What am I experiencing? Do I actually want to be here and part of this? Questions we are all asking right now. Why are they important and why is EQ important to you, your colleagues and your business.
What is emotional intelligence or EQ? Emotional intelligence (otherwise known as emotional quotient or EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
Kevin Britz and Anja van Beek tackle this issue today and share insights as to what EQ is and how you can develop yours.
To scale efficiently and effectively, expansion-stage companies need to focus their efforts on a specific subset of customers who are most similar to their best current customers, not a broad universe of potential customers. Customer segmentation is the way.
Kevin Britz & Craig Page-Lee, hosts of Lunchtime Marketing & Leadership on www.ebizradio.com delve into what customer segmentation is and why it matters?
Also known as market segmentation, customer segmentation is the division of potential customers in a given market into discrete groups. That division is based on customers having similar: Needs (i.e., so a single whole product can satisfy them) and Buying characteristics (i.e., responses to messaging, marketing channels, and sales channels, that a single go-to-market approach can be used to sell to them competitively and economically)
Can you easily describe your workplace culture? If you can’t, that could be a sign of a bigger problem. A weak or non-existent culture is not neutral; it signifies a lack of direction and cohesion. A strong and clearly defined culture is critical to taking your business to the next level. Workplace culture is complex and unique to every organization, but at the same time, it’s often simply described as “the way things are done around here. Can you actually measure what you Culture is?
Kevin Britz is joined by Jerome Parisse-Brassens, Walking The Talk to delve into and unpack this issue of culture and measurement
The professional services sector has soared over the past 2 years and will continue to do so well into 2023. What was the defining factor for this growth?
Exceptional service is what sets competitors apart. Service from the initial connection with a client, to continued support way beyond the purchase. Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee, unpack the growth in this market segment and share insights as to why they grew and in which particularly business segments. They also look at how technology and talent have played a massive part in this growth.

Perfection is the enemy of progress. A big challenge for many, so how do we find our lane and do the best we can in that lane? Work-Life balance is not spending hours on social media telling the world how hard you work - no one cares. You need to care about yourself, do what you need to do, do it well and switch off from work. Today, many organisations are seeking to make themselves future-fit.
The term ‘future-fit’ must be placed in context. It is most relevant at times such as these, when the whole world is moving from one paradigm to another – in this case, what is sometimes caused a change from the third Industrial Revolution to the fourth. Kevin Britz delves into Future Fitness with Chris Verrijdt, Future Factor and cuts through the layers of this future fit business training.
https://youtu.be/UTgn3hQ9kSw So how do we Future Fit ourselves and our businesses today?
What we knew and did, is not what we need right now. We have to evolve as leaders and managers in a business world that is changing weekly. How do we do this and how are other doing it. The massive upheavals of 2020 and 2021 have threaded crisis and uncertainty throughout just about every organization around the globe. In considering this, I'm reminded of the fact that when severe storms hit, yes, buildings fall and communities are disrupted, but something as simple as a palm tree can survive by bending, not breaking.
Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee, host our weekly Marketing & Leadership show, every Thursday at 12h00 on ebizradio.com. This week they move slightly away from Marketing and focus on Leadership, and thy explore 10 Leadership essentials and their importance of building leaders within an organisation. this however applies and influences all aspects of business, including how we marketer our business.
Key takeouts: * Sharpen your future leadership skills * Harness emotional intelligence * Become a feedback expert * Grow tomorrow's leaders today * Invest in capabilities * Nurture employee wellbeing * Row like a crew * Generate an inclusive workplace * Embed practices * Remember lessons
We are all bias - its ingrained, learnt and taught and you take it with you everywhere. So how do you become aware and try change your behaviour.
Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs about various social and identity groups, and these biases stem from one's tendency to organize social worlds by categorizing.
Kevin Britz is joined by Anja van Beek. They have a look at Unconscious Bias and how we all have biases whether or not we are aware of them, and discuss how we are influenced by our biases.
Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest and motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place. Burnout reduces productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Eventually, you may feel like you have nothing more to give.
The negative effects of burnout spill over into every area of life, including your home, work, and social life. Burnout can also cause long-term changes to your body that make you vulnerable to illnesses.. Because of its many consequences, it’s important to deal with burnout right away.
Kevin Britz is joined by Leonie Coetzee (who herself has suffered from burnout). They delve into the effects on your world and how you can help yourself recognise it and work through it.
We’re not getting any younger. In fact, we are all getting older — living longer, working longer, and transforming the consumer landscape, so why are so many brands and businesses ignoring us?
There are about 962 million people over the age of 60 in the world today — more than twice as many as there were in 1980. By 2050, that number will more than double again to nearly 2.1 billion. This rise in older adults along with declining birthrates means that by the middle of this century, there will be more people over age 60 than under age 15.
Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee, host Africa's leading Marketing & Leadership show, every Thursday at 12h00 on ebizradio.com. In this weeks discussion Craig takes us through what the Silver economy is, their spending power and why brands and business should start paying attention to them.
What actually happened at this years Cannes Lions? What impact does advertising and creativity have on us globally?
Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee, hosts of our weekly Lunchtime Marketing & Leadership show, every Thursday at 12h00 on ebizradio.com, delve into some of the key issues that we highlighted at this years Cannes Lions and what impact this has and will have on the ways brands connect and communicate with their audiences?
Creativity has always been at the heart of business, but until now it hasn’t been at the top of the leadership agenda. By definition the ability to create something novel and appropriate, creativity is essential to the entrepreneurship that gets new businesses started and that sustains the best companies after they have reached global scale. But perhaps because creativity was considered unmanageable—too elusive and intangible to pin down—or because concentrating on it produced a less immediate payoff than improving execution, it hasn’t been the focus of most leaders attention.
Kevin Britz is joined by Cassandra Julius, a Marketing Executive from Omni HR Consulting. They discuss how leaders can foster a culture of creativity and innovation in the workplace.

How and why creative, digital, advertising, video and content agencies need to stop working with Fossil Fuel brands and be the catalysts in the market place by turning away from working with them. If we don't do something immediately, you, my and our children's futures will be catastrophic. Clean Creatives SA, inspired by Clean Creatives in the US, is bringing together leading SA media agencies, their employees, and industry clients, to address the SA ad and PR industry’s work with the fossil fuels that are the principal cause of climate breakdown.
This week Kevin Britz and Craig Page-Lee are joined by Stephen Horn, Director at Bouncing Biscuits Studio, a Cape Town based agency whose key focus is on social issues and news media content, and today they will be discussing Fossil Fuels and the impact of this on our children’s futures. * Its every Advertising Agency, PR firm and Creative Digital Agencies duty and responsibility to position the dangers and effects of fossil fuels and be part of the global move to save our planet and work with clients that are actively reducing their emissions into the world. * Fossil fuels are coal, gas and oil. Burning and using fossil fuels is the biggest source of excess carbon in our atmosphere. Excess carbon is like a blanket, bringing global heating that threatens South Africa with a likely 6C–8C average temperature increase by 2100. * This temperature increase will compound water stress and threatens our food security. It brings sea-level rise, ocean acidification, increases in drought and wildfires: harming everyone, but harming vulnerable and poor people the most. * Continuing to work for fossil fuel companies hurts our communities. It also poses risks to brands that sincerely prioritise sustainability, and to their agencies. * The Clean Creatives pledge is the best way to show you are committed to a future for the creative industry that doesn’t include promoting climate-breaking carbon pollution. * As creatives or leaders of agencies, the pledge says that you will decline future contracts with the fossil fuel industry: any company that derives more than 20% of its income from selling fossil fuels, or selling to fossil fuel companies. * As clients, it says you will decline work with agencies that retain fossil fuel industry clients.
