In our second episode, editor-in-chief Michelle Sheen and special sections editor Krishna Thaker sit down with Sunny Hills physics and computer science teacher Jack Adams to discuss his views on the statewide vaccine and mask mandates and how he made his voice heard on the issue.
Upon Governor Gavin Newsom’s mandate requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for students attending in-person school on Oct. 1, several Sunny Hills students and faculty noticed Sunny Hills physics and computer science teacher Jack Adams standing outside the school parking lot on “Lancer Way” before the start of 1st period.
On these mornings, from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15, Adams held up a sign that read: “I’m a computer science and physics teacher who believes in critical thinking” in protest of the mandate for cars passing by to see. Most of these cars were those of students and parents.
Now, as the first semester comes to an end, Adams reflects on his protest and voices concerns about the recent developments in COVID-19 government mandates. Regardless, he continues to abide by all current COVID-19 guidelines and gets tested regularly.
